KILNER
I am researching our KILNER Family Tree. From letters, I know that John Washington KILNER (B: 1892) and his wife Dorothy Margaret KILNER, both born in England, immigrated to the Wenatchee area in 1920. Dorothy petitioned for US citizenship in 1937, in Chelan County. John and Dorothy had at least one son, John Patrick KILNER who is buried in Chelan County. He died in 1968. John Washington KILNER died in 1975.

I am an Australian but live in a remote province of China. I would be extremely grateful to any one who could give me any information regarding this branch of our family tree.

BROWN, Ray C.
Ray BROWN was my grandfather and all my relatives on that side of the family are deceased. I'd like to find out his birth date or any other info (parents, etc.)

I was told he was in law enforcement when my mom, Inez Elaine BROWN, was a child in either Cashmere, Chelan or Wenatchee. She was born 3 Oct 1932. I think she was the youngest of the 3 children. There was a son lost young (I think around age 7 to a fever or drowning?) and I'm not sure if he was older or younger than my mother. The oldest was my aunt, Rae Jeannine BROWN, 4 years older than my mother. All 3 are deceased.

I have marriage info on my grandparents as follows:

Groom: Ray C. BROWN

Bride: Jane H. BISPING

(I know her middle name was Henrietta.)

Auditor File Number: 111828

Date of Marriage: 3 August 1920

Date Recorded: 3 August 1920

Record Type: Marriage Application

Marriage License Number: 3064

License Issue Date: 5 August 1920

County: Chelan

I have my grandfather's military info as follows:

Last Name: BROWN

First Name: Ray

Middle Name: C.

Army Serial Number: 1,768,672

Birthdate/Age: 21 yrs

Ethnicity: White

(although my mother said that his mother was Pawnee.)

Birthplace: Merrimac, Oklahoma

Residence City: Cashmere

Enlisted/Inducted At or Training Camp: NA Ft Lawton Wash Nov 21/17

Grade/Rank: Pvt

Discharge Date: 15 Apr 19?

I know my grandfather had at least one sibling, a brother named Carl (also deceased).

I believe my grandfather and mother are buried near one another somewhere in Cashmere. (I was estranged from my family for many years.)

Any info will be appreciated.

MYERS
I am looking for information on a great-grandfather, Dawson MYERS, who is listed as living in Cashmere, Chelan, WA, USA on the 1930 US Federal Census. The Census indicates that he worked as a barber, a profession that he continued later in life. The Census does, however, indicate that he was born in 1890, whereas the SSDI and WA Death index indicate that he was born in 1885. The Census-listed birth state and, again, his profession, however match our information, which indicates that in most respects the Census lists him accurately. We know that he lived in Yakima for some time and then in Ritzville, but would like to learn more. If anyone has further information on Dawson or his parents, siblings, etc., please contact me!

BOLYARD, MURPHY, BUTLER
A branch of my BOLYARD family went to Chelan County in the late 1880s and early 1900s. They seem to have disappeared! I would appreciate any clues to the following:

1. Dora M. BOLYARD, b. abt 1880 in WV, m. in 1902 to David P. MURPHY, b. abt 1876. They were married in WV, and David returned to Chelan County WA with his bride. She had not returned to WV when her father died there in 1911. Did Dora and David have any children? Did they die in Chelan County?

2. Lilly D. BOLYARD, b. in 1877 in WV, d. in 1962 in Chelan, WA. She m. Thomas Martin BUTLER JR as his third wife, sometime after 1895 and probably after 1940 when his second wife died. Can anyone narrow down this time span for me?

3. Holsberry C. BOLYARD, b. 1849 in WV, d. 24 Dec 1932, buried in Chelan Co. Who were his children?

TESHERA
I live in Everson, WA, twenty miles north of Bellingham, near the Canadian Border. I am trying to track down the history of my great-uncle Joseph Warren TESHERA.

It has been family lore that at one time he was the Sheriff of Leavenworth. He could possibly have been, instead, a deputy-Sheriff, deputy or Chief of Police (if that was a position at that time). This would have been sometime between 1890's and 1940.

Is there anyone who might have some information on him?

GREEN
STEINBACH
McCOY

My father, Vern(e) Lester GREEN, and his brother, Richard Paul GREEN, were adopted in 1937 by Chelan County Sheriff Thomas H. CANNON and his wife Susan Elizabeth (DOWNING) CANNON.

Their last names were changed to CANNON and Richard's name was changed to David Paul. Their mother was Elizabeth (STEINBACH) GREEN, and she died in 1936. Their father was Lester Reeves GREEN; he gave the boys up for adoption but lived in Wenatchee until he died in 1972.

Vilas (Phil) GREEN was another son; he lived in Winthrop, but died in Wenatchee in 1972. Benjamin GREEN was living in Wenatchee when he died in 1967.

Elizabeth (STEINBACH) GREEN's parents were Christian STEINBACH and Magdalena (HUETHER) STEINBACH. One of her sisters, Catherine/Katherine STEINBACH, moved to Wenatchee in 1934 with her husband, William McCOY.

Thomas H. CANNON and his wife, Susan Elizabeth (DOWNING) CANNON were married in Bridgeport in 1911, but spent most of their lives in Wenatchee (they moved to GA in the 1960s.) Thomas H. CANNON had a brother in Wenatchee, Rupert CANNON, married to Lillian.

Susan Elizabeth (DOWNING) CANNON's parents were Henry Martin DOWNING and Margaret Aker (TIBBITS) DOWNING. They were buried in Sunnyslope Cemetery 1929 and 1913. One sister (maybe Mary (DOWNING) BARSTOW d. 1923) died with 2 young girls and they were raised by Susan Elizabeth (DOWNING) CANNON and Thomas H. CANNON.
Thank you.

Harvey probably died in the 40's [I'm guessing] because dad moved to Alaska in 1947. Any advice would be appreciated.

HUDSON, CONNER
I have HUDSON's that came to Wenatchee approx. 1904 or 1905. They were William Allen HUDSON and Sophronia (Fronia) Ethzelda Isabelle Gibbens. We believe their 5th child Edna HUDSON was born in Wenatchee. Wiiliam HUDSON, Fronia HUDSON, Patrick HUDSON, Clarence HUDSON (My grt grandfather). All died in Wenatchee.

My grt grandmother also came to Wenatchee with her family (James Buchanan CONNER and Matilda HUPP). Her name was Etta May CONNER. (She had been married before she came to Wenatchee.) Her marriage cert to my grt grandfather has her last named listred as CUMBO.

I am looking for any family related to these two names.

Also if anyone has old newspapers I am looking for this article:

(In a message dated 3/22/01 7:58:16 AM Pacific Standard Time, holley@wenworld.com writes:
The Wenatchee World did a write-up about him ( George " Bill " HUDSON ) and the flag of flowers he made for the bicentennial in 1976.

KIRBEY, MEADS
I am searching for information on my great-granduncle, Leonard W. KIRBEY, and his family. They were in Wentachee, Chelan County, WA in 1920 Federal Census. Listed with Leonard are his wife, Jennie (MEADS) and sons Harley, 30 years old, and Sherman, 28 years old. All except Leonard were born in Michigan, probably Bay City, Bay County. Leonard, age 58, was born in New York state. Leonard & Jennie were married in 1884 in Bay City, Bay County, MI. They may have had more children than the two who were living with them in 1920. I would like to know when they arrived in WA, how long they stayed, where they went when they left, wives of the two sons. Also parent's names of both Leonard and Jennie, what Leonard did to earn a living (he was a cigar manufacturer with his brother, Charles R. KIRBEY, Sr., in Michigan). Thank you to anyone who can give me some help.

BATEMAN, BUTLER
I am new at this so hope I get it right. William BATEMAN died in 1934 at the state hospital in Steilacoom, Wa. He was living in Ridgefield (Clark Co.) at the time and is buried there. He was a transplant from Michigan / Montana. I have located most info I can on him. In 1934 he was living there with his wife Frances (BUTLER) BATEMAN and her father James BUTLER; also, his daughter Rosemary BATEMAN, born in 1925, and daughter Martha May, born in 1927. It appears that William and Frances were married in 1924. Everything appears that Frances BUTLER was from Wenatchee or the surrounding area. That may be where they were married and even where the girls were born. After his death in 1934, the family disappeared from Clark County and may well have gone back to Chelan County. If (and I assume) they married, the BATEMAN name changed and I cannot find them or their offspring (who I have reason to believe are looking for us). We have the family history back to 1712 and it is growing all of the time. The BATEMAN girls and their offspring are a lost part of the group. If you can assist us or direct us to someone who can, we would appreciate it.

BARCLAY, WALKER, LOWE
My BARCLAY family arrived in Chelan Co., WA, from Polk Co., MO, after 1901. My grandparents were James Otis BARCLAY and Julia Frances BARCLAY (maiden name was WALKER). My grandfather was a prominent carpenter in Wenatchee and built a number of houses there from about 1901 to 1926. He died from a broken neck after falling off the roof of a house he was building. He died in Nov 1926. Julia died of heart problems in Nov 1936. They first lived on "E" St. in Wenatchee and later moved into a house that he built on Chelan Ave. They had 9 children, 7 born in POLK Co., MO; their names were: Gurney Agnes, Sidney, Otis Ray, Bulia Catherine, Maggie May, Ida Ruth, and Olympia Walker. These children grew up in Wenatchee. They had two more children born in the "E" St. house, John Alexander "Jack" and Vivian Mattie. Jack was born in 1906 and Vivian (my mother) was born 27 Mar 1909. Jack and my mother attended Whitman School. My mother graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1926. Jack BARCLAY was a prominent carpenter in Wenatchee from 1930s until his death in 1968. He helped build several schools in the Wenatchee area. From 1920-30 my mother worked in apple packing sheds along with her sister Bulia who worked in them until the late 1950s.

I am looking for any information on this family, especially obituaries of James Otis BARCLAY and Julia Frances BARCLAY. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery located in Wenatchee along with their children Otis Ray and Bulia Catherine Lowe and her husband William LOWE.

PHIPPS, STEVENS, WHITEHALL, CHASE, ROSS, CLARK, MOHLER
I am researching my PHIPPS and STEVENS surnames. My grandmother Mary Ellen PHIPPS was born in Wenatchee, WA, 11 Jun 1907. She married James Oliver WHITEHALL. Her parents were James Louis PHIPPS and Ellen Augusta STEVENS. Her maternal grandparents were A.A. STEVENS and Helen CHASE. According to the History of Central Washington, published 1929, A. A. STEVENS was a native of New Hampshire. When he was about eleven he with his parents moved to Minnesota and settled in Blue Earth County. In 1868 he married Helen CHASE and of this union seven children were born, one being Ellen Augusta. The others were Fred, of Boise, Idaho; Dr. Eugene M., of Doty, Washington; Mattie, Mrs. J. D. ROSS, of Wenatchee; Maud, Mrs. Henry CLARK, of Rosebud, Alberta; Josphephine, late Mrs. M. MOHLER, of Wenatchee; and Edward M. of Wenatchee. The family came to Washington in August, 1889, and located in Latah (not far from Spokane). It is unknown to me exactly when the family moved to Wenatchee. In 1918, A. A. STEVENS was elected Chelan County Clerk and reelected in 1920. It's only a guess but I believe that the first "A" in A. A. STEVENS' name may stand for Augusta. I have no information on James Louis PHIPPS as of yet. Any information on this family would be appreciated.
