Joseph Brown

Joseph Brown, 65, of 801 North I Street (Biltmore Apts), died Thursday (6 Jan 1937 of Lymphatic Leukemia) in a local hospital (Tacoma Gen.). He was most recently a mill worker for St Paul & Tacoma. (He had also worked on the construction of the Tacoma Municipal Airport which later became McChord Air Force Base). A native of Ashe County, N. C. ( who migrated west in 1919 to join his brothers and parents already in Montesano). He had lived in Tacoma three years, coming here from Montesano where he was a former logger. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Sullivan); two daughters, Mrs. (Dessie) David F. Shoemaker of Port Orchard and Mrs. (Bonnie) E. I. Marett of Bremerton; three sons, Coy, Aaron and Joseph Jr. of Tacoma (also Martin); a sister, Mrs. Melissie Caudill of Virginia, and five brothers, John, Roby Wm, Lillard Wilson Brown and Thomas Smith Brown of Washington and M. Green Brown of Virginia (also brother, James Wilda formerly of WA now in PA). Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Melinger chapel. Burial will be in Wynoochee Cemetery in Montesano.

NOTE—Joseph’s father, George Brown, died in Montesano 22 Mar 1931 and Joseph’s mother, Anna (Osborne) died in Montesano 24 Mar 1934. Dan Brown, the submitter, does not yet have obituaries for his great grandparents, if they exist.
