The Recording Division of the Jefferson County Auditor's Office is responsbile for recording and retrieving real property documents. All recorded documents are indexed and microfilmed.

Death Records:

County: August 7, 1891 to March 7, 1906

1856-1967

Indexes are kept by type of document and are found in books in the vault.

1968-1984

All documents are general records and are found in books in the vault.

1985-now

Indexes are on the computer.

When searching for instruments recorded prior to 1985, it is advisable to have the approximate recording date.

All marriage and survey records are indexed on the computer regardless of the date filed.
