County Records of Births, Marriages and Deaths

Marriage records are available from 1872 until the present. Jefferson County began keeping birth and death records in 1891. Records through 1906 are available at the County Auditor's office.

State Records of Births and Deaths

Jefferson County birth and death records have been kept by the state since July 1, 1907. Marriage and divorce records have been kept by the state beginning January 1, 1968.

Delayed Birth Records

Individuals who did not have a birth certificate may have applied for a delayed birth certificate at a superior court or at the State Department of Health. The state began keeping delayed birth records in 1907.
