Mrs. Newsome, Descendant of Pioneer, Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Maple Newsome, member of a pioneer Seattle family, will be held at 1 o’clock tomorrow in the Bonney-Watson Mortuary, followed by burial in Lakeview. She died yesterday.

Mrs. Newsome, widow of Charles L. Newsome lived with her mother, Mrs. E.C. Roberts, at 1709 North 39th Street Mrs. Newsome was born in Seattle. The farm owned by her grandfather, Martin Luther Cavanaugh, is now the site of Boeing Airport.

Mrs. Newsome was a charter member of the Seattle Pioneer Society. She had been a switchboard operator at the County-City Building for more than 25 years.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ruth T. Meck, also of Seattle.
