Wendel Hunt, Truck Firms’ Chief, Dies

Wendel E. Hunt, 50, President of two Seattle trucking firms, died suddenly in his home Sunday at 10224 Southeast 248th Street, Kent.

Funeral services will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow in the Edline Funeral Home, Kent, followed by cremation.

Mr. Hunt was born in Toano, Virginia. He went to Kent in 1918. He had been in the trucking business 34 years and was President of Strain’s Transportation Co. and the Garfield Transfer Co. Inc.

Mr. Hunt was a member of the Auburn Elks, the Washington Motor Transport Association and the Truck Owners’ Association.

Survivors include his wife, Opal; two sons, Frank, Port Orchard and Leslie Hunt at home; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Washburn, Renton; three brothers, Leslie N., Kent and Calvin J., Port Angeles and Lewis Hunt, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; a sister, Mrs. Myron Finch, Bellevue and several grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances to the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.
