Under "Clippings of the Past" see DIED: -- In this city   Emily Gobat was born in Switzerland in 1809. She was the mother of Victor and Samuel Gobat. Emily died at her son's home in Goldendale on the Monday before the newspaper issue of February 7, 1889, and thus, it appears her date of death was the 4th of February, 1889   [Researcher Resources: Newspaper Death Notice (link above); Ancestry.com (1880 US Census; 1883, 1885, 1887 WA State & Territorial Census) -- *Note: I believe that Emily is likely the mother of Justine (Gobat) Ganguin who is listed on this page.]
Gobat, Victor E. 1841-1892 Victor E. Gobat was born in 1841 in Switzerland. His mother's name was Emily (born in 1809 and died in 1889) who listed herself in the 1880 census in Goldendale as widowed and from Switzerland. Victor Gobat had a jewelry store in Goldendale in the 1880's; his occupation was listed as "watchmaker". In the September 27, 1888 Goldendale newspaper, Victor is cited as "moving into his brick building, the first one to be completed here" [Goldendale]. He eventually sold that jewelry business to Mr. Wendelin Leidl for $2,700. Victor is buried in Block Section 045 Lot 2.   [Researcher Resources: 1880 census; An Illustrated history of Klickitat... Counties; Washington State and Territorial Censuses of 1883, 1885, 1887, 1889; 1892 McKenney's Pacific Coast directory (Volume 1886-87); Looking Back at September 27, 1888 Goldendale Newspaper. I believe Victor is the sister of Justine (Gobat) Ganguin who is buried in this cemetery.]
