McNew granddaughter dies after illness

"Word received in Goldendale last week told of the death at Yelm of Lauree Ann McNew. 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. McNew, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McNew of Goldendale. Her death followed a lengthy illness.

Jim McNew was associated with his parents in the Western Auto Associate store in Goldendale for about a year, before moving 3 years ago with his family to Yelm, where he had purchased a liquid gas distributorship. During their residence here, the James McNews lived on North High Street.

Lauree was born at Port Townsend, April 15, 1957. She was a McKenna grade school student at Yelm.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Marcus Eugene and John Warner, in the family home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon D. McNew, Goldendale, and Mr. and Mrs. Warner L. Curtis, Port Townsend, and the great grandparents, Mrs. Gertrude McNew of Spokane, John H. Curtis of Granite Falls, and Mrs. Hilda Myers of Marysville.

Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Burial was in Spokane."
