Death Records of Dr R.D. McRae in Stevens County 1910-1928 This book of records was graciously provided by THE HUNTERS MUSEUM, HUNTERS, WASHINGTON. All information was copied from the original book of Washington State Board of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Register of Death Records during 1910 to 1928, that were filed by Doctor Roderick D. McRae, who practiced medicine in Stevens County, Hunters, Washington. There are some spelling errors in the names and with some things it was hard to decipher the handwriting, thus the question marks. We typed all information that was provided, deciphering the handwriting as best we could, then cross-referenced them with the cemetery rosters, the information from cemetery headstones has been added in the parenthesis (---). The sp (sp) in the parenthesis indicates that the spelling is incorrect. Using information on the certificate I tried to determine where they died. My information may not be completely accurate as Dr McRae did have a hospital in Hunters and some may have died there rather than at home. Doctor Roderick D. McRae moved to Hunters, setting up an office in 1896 and later even started a small hospital in Hunters. He was born in 1864 in Canada and was a veterinarian while he went to medical school. February 2, 1897 he married Mrs. Louise Peltier Brandamore. After her death he married his nurse Florence Collins. He was elected Stevens County Coroner in 1902. Dr McRae died in 1942 and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery. Florence re-married and moved to the Washington Coast. My mother who was born near Turk in 1916, said Dr McRae was attending her mother and told her it would be a while before she delivered, went to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and Mom was born while he was out of the room. Her mother was originally from the "show me state of Missouri". Doc McRae traveled by horse and buggy to minister to the sick, deliver new babies and attend the dying for many years. Greenwood Cemetery is about 4 miles East of Hunters, Cedonia Cemetery is at Cedonia 3 1/2 miles North of Hunters, The Fruitland Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery is about 5 miles up Fruitland Valley behind the church; LaFleur Cemetery is located approximately 1 1/2 miles North of Enterprise; Enterprise Cemetery is about 3 miles South of Fruitland. The towns in this area are Bissell, Cedonia, Fruitland, Gerome, Hunters, Miles, Turk, in Stevens County, Washington state. Davenport is in Lincoln County to the South and West is Creston. Colville is Northeast. Typed and submitted by Rella Gleaton, June 2002. ================================================================================ Name, Birthdate & place, Death date, age at death & town, Cause of Death, Where buried, Occupation, Marital Status: S/Single, M/married, W/widowed, D/divorced parents names and Birthplace of parents, Informant & residence ALBEROUSKY, Mary, b.Dec 8,1857,Bohemia, d.Apr 12,1919, @61y 4m 4d, Hunters; Cancer of the Stomach 3 yrs; Greenwood Cemetery; M; Frank Krenik, Bohemia & mother information unknown; Louis Alby,Hunters ALLEN, Manchious, b.Jan 3,1861, New Jersey, d.
