BARR, Anna M., 86, I Street Apartments, died Tuesday, November 28, (1972). She was a member of the Advent Christian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Murphy of Tacoma.

BARR, Archibald - Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Friday by Rev. John Haygood for Archie Barr, 82. He died Sept. 21, (1971). Mr. Barr had been a resident of the Ferndale area for the past 20 years. He was a retired logger. He is survived by a son Roy of Nevada; brother and sister, John Barr and Mrs. Rosalie Eastwood, both of Ferndale; two grandchildren, and several other relatives. Interment in Enterprise Cemetery was under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

BARR, Charles H., age 89 of 914 Nelson, Sedro Woolley, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, (1974). Mr. Barr was a 40 year resident of Whatcom & Skagit Counties and a retired sawyer. Surviving 2 nephews, Lavell Barr, Mount Vernon and Chet Barr, Sedro Woolley; 1 niece, Mrs. Burna Duthie, New Port Beach, Calif.; 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Reva Compton, Deming; 1 step-son Walter Krueger in California; 7 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.

BARR, Charles S., age 78, of 2905 Northwest Ave., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, August 3, (1957) following a lingering illness. Mr. Barr had resided in this community for the past 57 years, and was a retired logging contractor. He leaves to survive four daughters, Mrs. Robert Buckley and Mrs. Lawrence Tiscornia, both of this city, Mrs. Bert Shannon, of Marblemount, Wash., Mrs. John Lehman of Cle Elum, Wash.; five sons, Charles Barr of Roslyn, Wash., James Barr, of Seattle, Jack Barr, U.S. Navy, in the Philippines, Bill Barr of Bainbridge Island, Bob Barr of Cincinnati, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Pearl Watts of Portland, Ore., and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Tom Tate officiating. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

BARR, Elgin, age 57 of No. 5 Garden Terrace passed away in a local hospital Friday March 18, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Barr had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 25 years and was a member of the Lumber & Sawmill Workers Local No. 2667 & Machine operator for the Haley Crossarms Inc. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Barr at the family home, 2 daughters, Mrs. Norma J. Baker of this city, Mrs. Betty Kilpinski of Seattle, 3 grandchildren, 1 brother Ben Barr of this city, two sisters, Mrs. Susie Hall, Mrs. Nettie Cavanaugh both of South Dakota. Private graveside services will be conducted Monday March 21 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Donald Swerdfeger officiating. Interment Bayview under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

BARR, Ethel Mae, age 84 of White Rock, B.C., passed away in that city Sat., Feb. 19, (1977). A resident of White Rock for the past 5 years, Mrs. Barr was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association and Tell City Indiana Chapter OES. Surviving 1 sister, Mrs. Ellen Sweeney of Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services Monday, Feb. 28, 1 p.m. Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Bergey officiating.

BARR, Gertrude M., age 79 of 1400 12th St., passed away Wed., Oct. 3, 1979. A resident of this community for the past 50 years, she attended Garden Street Methodist Church, was a member of VFW Auxiliary and served as a ground observer for Civil Defense. She is survived by 1 brother and sister-in-law, Thornton B. and Sylvia Philpott of Ferndale; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Gladys & Leonard M. Tysver, City; 1 son-in-law, Allen Chervenock, City; 2 step daughters, Mrs. Frances Olson, City and Mrs. Helen Snow of Kennewick; 1 step son, Benjamin Barr of Seattle; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews. BARR, Gilbert N., age 83 of 214 Carolina St., passed away in a local rest home Tuesday, Oct. 21, (1975). A resident of the Everson Nooksack area since 1900, he made his home in Bellingham for the past 60 years and had been employed by Alvers Mill for 45 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Teamsters Local No. 231. Surviving are his wife, Marie at home; 2 daughters, Margaret Korthius of Edmonds and Lorraine Quiram of Lynden; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held in Veroske's Bellingham Chapel Friday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Carl O. Fischer officiating. Burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

BARR, John, age 51, of 1707 Humboldt Street, passed away at the family home Wednesday, November 30, (1949) following a short illness. Mr. Barr had been a resident of Bellingham since 1919. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Culinary and Beverage Workers Union, and the Naval and Military Masonic Lodge No. 206 in Bremerton, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise M. Barr; one step-son, Robert Kline, at home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Hansen, Seattle; one sister Mrs. Melba Glass, Bellingham; one brother, Howard R. Barr, Bellingham; his mother, Mrs. J. H. Slaughter and step-father, J. H. Slaughter. Also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 3 at 1 p.m., within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. Clarence Haugen, pastor of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.

BARR, Marjorie Esther, a life long resident of Bellingham, passed away on December 22, 2004, at the age of 85. Marge was born in Bellingham, WA on June 26, 1919 to Eda and V. W. Pearce. Marge worked as a bookkeeper in Bellingham for many years before her retirement. She greatly enjoyed spending the winter in California. Marge was always excited to spend an evening at one of the local casinos. She spent many evening's playing cards with her friends and took a lot of day trips around the area. Her husband Neil and daughter Cindy K. Peter preceded her in death. Marge is survived by her son Allen Barr of Garden City, ID; brother, Warren and Mary Pearce of Ranchchester WY, Derrie and Lilly Pearce of Mossy Rock, WA; granddaughters Tressa Peter of Bellingham, Tiffany Peter of Bellingham and great-grandson, Cody Peter of Bellingham. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at 11:30 am with Rev. Bob Marvel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association. BARR, Mary Jane, age 86 years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, July 31, (1945) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Barr had lived in Bellingham for the past nineteen years and was a member of the Episcopal church. A daughter, Mrs. M. L. Smith, of Vancouver, B.C., survives. Funeral services were conducted from the Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home by Rev. Roy L. Smith, Friday, August 3 at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Woodlawn Cemetery.

BARR, Robert L., 81, of 1228 State St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, Dec. 4, (1959). Mr. Barr had resided in Whatcom and San Juan Counties for the past 60 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are one brother, Will Barr, of Glendale, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. C. W. Kidwell Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 10:00 a.m. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

BARR, Rufus L., age 86, of 505 Garden St., passed away at home Friday, Oct. 11, (1955). Mr. Barr had resided in this city for the past 65 years and was co-owner of the Wilson, Noble and Barr Wholesale Grocery. Surviving relatives include Mrs. Claire Dwyer of Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow Hollingsworth where private services will be conducted by the Rev. William E. Strance Monday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation.

BARR, William H., age 26, of Rt. 3, Box 314, passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, October 23, (1955). Mr. Barr had been a resident of this community for 26 years, was veteran of the Korean War, and was a laminator at the Bellingham Shipyard. Surviving relatives include the wife, Stella Dolores at the family home, a son, Michael L., at home, parents, Howard Barr and Mrs. Earl Snow, both a Bellingham, a brother, Danny B. Barr of Bellingham, and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Snow of Kennewick and Mrs. Frances Olson of Spencer, Idaho; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Slaughter of Route 3, Bellingham; Mrs. Ed Glass of Everson. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence J. BARRAFORD, Fred, age 75 years, 1410 F Street, passed away at a local hospital, Friday, January 14, (1949) after a lingering illness. Mr. Barraford had been a resident of Bellingham for the past fifty-four years and was a member of the local Shingleweavers Union. Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Barbara Barraford; two sons, George F., and Lawrence W. Barraford, and one daughter, Mrs. Genett Clifton, all of Bellingham; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Berger, Portland, Ore., Mrs. May Courage, Sellack, Wash., Mrs. Helen Hunason and Miss Bertha Barraford, both of Seattle, also numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 17 at 2 p.m. within the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Martyn Wilson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. BARRETT, Andrew J. "Jack" 4511 Spring Street, age 58, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, (1969). A life resident of this City, Mr. Barrett was the former owner of Swanson Electric and Telecable. He was a member of Geneva Community Church; Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F.&A.M.; a 26 year member of int. Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 191; Charter Member of Geneva Water Corp; member of the Bellingham Yacht Club and the U.C.T Survivors are his wife, Lois E.; one son, Richard V., City; one daughter, Mrs. Ramona L. Corson, Pullman; 5 grandchildren; two brothers, Richard of Snoqualmie and Gordon of this City; four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Christi and Mrs. Elizabeth Todd, both of this City; Mrs. Lillian Cobb, Royal City, Wa.; Mrs. Beverly Anderson of North Bend, Wa.; also numerous nieces and nephews. BARRETT, Emma J., age 72 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bice, Sunday, May 13, (1945). Mrs. Barrett had been a resident of Blaine for the past five years and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bice; one brother, Charles Smith, of Chicago; two grandchildren, Virginia Gent, of Seattle, and Phyllis Eichhon, of Los Angeles, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews. The remains are resting at the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine where services will be conducted Thursday, May 17, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eric Sjolund, of Custer, officiating. BARRETT, Hattie Bell, age 81, of 1810 Knox Street, passed away at her home Monday, December 18, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Barrett had been a resident of the county for the past 43 years. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Byron Morgan, of Bellingham and two grandsons and a great-grandson. Services will be conducted within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home Wednesday, December 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles W. Muir officiating. Cremation.

BARRETT, Henry, age 74 years, of 1509 East Victor, passed away at his home early Wednesday morning, March 17, (1948) following a lingering illness. Mr. Barrett had been a resident of Whatcom County his entire lifetime, having been born in the old Townsite of Sehome. He was a retired Shingleweaver, and is survived by 1 brother, George Barrett, Blanchard; 2 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Winebremer, Bothell, Wash.; and Mrs. Julia Pifer, of New York. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

BARRETT, Isabella, age 81, 3413 Meridian Street, passed away in a local Hospital Saturday, November 30, (1963). Mrs. Barrett was a forty year resident of this community. Survivors are three sons, Richard M., Snoqualmie; Andrew Jack; City; Mrs. Hazel Higman, Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. Lillian Cobb, Royal City, Wash.; Mrs. Beverly Anderson, Snoqualmie; 21 grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Hale and Mrs. Pearl Kilby, both of Vancouver, B.C. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Grant Whipple Tuesday, December 3 at 3:00 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

BARRETT, Mary Ellen "Ella", age 78, formerly of 2323 Elizabeth St., passed away in Portland, Ore., Monday, Dec. 26, (1955). Mrs. Barrett came West at the age of 10, going up the Nooksack River in an Indian canoe to settle in the Enterprise district. She was married in 1894 to the late Samuel E. Barrett; was a member of the Congregational Church, and for the past few years had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Rosamond Rochefort in Portland. Surviving, other than Mrs. Rochefort are two sons, Wallace Barrett of Vashon, Wash., and Gordon Barrett of Redmond, Wash., also seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The remains will be received by Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. W. Carl Calhoun Thursday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Woodlawn.

BARRETT, Matty, age 87, of Route 2, Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, June 23, (1954) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Barrett had been a resident of the Ferndale community since 1905. She was a member of the United Church of Ferndale and a charter member of Orchard Grange. Mrs. Barrett is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lola Stuart, Santa Clara, Calif., Mrs. Hazel Willey, Blaine, Mrs. Cecille Allen, Everett; two sons, Harley of Bellingham, Wilbur of Ferndale; two brothers, William Way, Modesto, Calif., Fred Way, Santa Rosa, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at the Monroe Funeral Chapel, Ferndale, with Reverend Harry Martynse officiating. Interment, Enterprise.

BARRETT, Pearl E. of Bellingham died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Columbia Place. She was 80. A graveside service was held Thursday in Bayview Cemetery with A. W. Pattison officiating. Born June 11, 1916, to Ned and Bertha Webb Pattison in Aldergrove, B.C., she lived in Whatcom County for more than 50 years. Mrs. Barrett worked as a dietitian at Highland Convalescent Center for several years. She married Walde Knudson in 1934 and Jay Barrett in 1948; they preceded her in death. Survivors include son Rudy Knudson of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; brothers Arthur Pattison of Sedro-Woolley and Jon Linde of Grainger; stepdaughter Evelyn Crosslin of Bellingham; stepsons Ray Knudson of Union City, Calif., and Dave Barrett of Texas; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

BARRETT, Roline - A service for Roline Barrett, formerly of Bellingham, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Barrett died Monday, March 24, 1997, in Renton. She was 87. Born Nov. 21, 1909, to Rollo and Mary Brown in Eau Claire, Wis., she lived in Whatcom County before moving to King County nine years ago. She married Robert S. Barrett in 1928 in Eau Claire. A housewife, Mrs. Barrett enjoyed knitting, crocheting, plants, pets and visiting second-hand stores. She was preceded in death by her husband and by a daughter, Darlene Bikker. Survivors include sons Robert Barrett of Tacoma and Dennis Barrett of Seattle, daughters Sharon Lee of Renton, Marlys Harris of Placerville, Calif., and Janet Brookman of Sitka, Alaska, sisters Valerie Buettgenbach of Bremerton and Bonnie Brugman of Bellingham, 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home.

BARRETT, Ronald M., age 26, of Everett, passed away in the Everett Hospital, Wednesday, May 9, (1962) following a brief illness. His survivors include his wife, Shirley; four children, Glenda, Rodney, LaDonna, and Vickie, all at the family home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Barrett, and three brothers, Don, Lonni, and Jim, all of Bellingham. There are numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted in the Moles Funeral Home, Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ivan R. Smith officiating. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

BARRETT, Samuel Edward, 3408 Northwest Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Friday, January 15, (1937) following a lingering illness. Mr. Barrett was born in Whatcom County and had been a resident here his entire lifetime of sixty-six years. Deceased was elected to the office of county auditor several times and spent a number of years as deputy in that office. He was for many years a member of the B.P.O. Elks. Surviving relatives are the widow, Ella Barrett, at home; one daughter, Rosamond Barrett, of this city, and two sons, Gordon and Wallace Barrett, Seattle; also five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 18, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Fr. Russell Ingersoll at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth. Interment was made in Woodlawn Cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: John Attkin, John Kastner, Peter Thompson, Henry Shagren, Henry Slater and Allan Love.

BARRETT, William F. (Bill), beloved son of Frank and Alice (Weyandt) Barrett (both deceased) was born December 5, 1949, in Ashtabula, Ohio and passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham on March 25, 2007. He will be remembered fondly by his family; his sister Joyce Gudaitis, his nephews Tom (Bonnie) and Mike, his niece Katie (Kimiyoshi), his 3 grand-nephews and his grand-nieces Reilly, Canyon Lucky, and Jazmyn. Bill moved to Bellingham with his dad in 1984 and lived at Lincoln Square before becoming part of the M.O.R.E. program. He worked at Northwest Industries and enjoyed many activities in the community including SPIN dances, bowling and special Olympics. When his health deteriorated in 2001, he moved to Sagewood and later Heartwood Adult Family Homes in Lynden, where he lived until 3 days before his death. Bill's family thanks all the people who took such excellent care of him over the years, especially Jill and Scott Peck at MORE 2, the families and friends of MORE 2 and the staffs of Sagewood and Heartwood who were there at the end for Bill and his family. A Memorial Mass will be held at The Church of the Assumption on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a gathering of family and friends.

BARRIBALL, Ruby, age 69, of the Mt. Baker Apts., passed away in a local hospital Monday, June 19, (1961). Mrs. Barriball had been a 65 year resident of this community and leaves to survive two sons, William J. and Donald F., both of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. C. W. Danielsen of Seattle; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Orrin Willet of Bellingham, Fred Willet of Leavenworth, Wash., and Howard Willet of Olympia; one sister, Mrs. Axel Sundquist of Bellingham, also many nieces and nephews. the remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. W. Robert Webb Wednesday, June 21, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

BARRICK, Lura E., age 66, of 2812 Vallette St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, July 10, (1958). Mrs. Barrick had resided in this community for the past 29 years and was owner and operator of the Leopold cigar and magazine stand for 23 years. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Cora Riley of Glendale, Calif., one brother, Robert Riley, also of California; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Father George F. Pratt Tuesday, July 15, at 1 p.m., followed by cremation. BARRICKLOW, Wallace Edward, age 49 years, passed away following a heart attack in Ketchikan, Alaska Sunday, September 9, (1945). Mr. Barricklow was born in Blaine and was a member of the Alaska Fisherman's Union and the Moose Lodge in Ketchikan. His survivors are the widow, Helen M. and one step-son, Richard Grant, of Bellingham; six brothers, Luther, Clay, Gordon and William, Seattle, Marion, Anacortes, and Hurndon E., of Ketchikan; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Flora Shaw, of Yakima, Wash. The remains were received by Harlow-Hollingsworth where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 25 at 3 p.m. with Rev. C. Elroy Shikles officiating. Final resting place, Blaine Cemetery.

BARRINGTON, Dorothy Mae - A funeral for Dorothy Mae Barrington of Ferndale will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Moles Funeral Home. Mrs. Barrington died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. She was 82. She attended business school and Bible college in Portland, Ore., and was a member of Spokane Garden Club and a resident of Whatcom County for 17 years. Mrs. Barrington enjoyed gardening, bowling, her dogs and playing cards and games. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1995. Survivors include son Vernon Matson of Vancouver, Wash., daughter Patricia Shoemaker of Bellingham and sister Elsie Binford of Mountain Home, Idaho.

BARRON, Declan F., age 56 of 313 Highland Drive, passed away Sunday, March 5, (1967). A lifetime resident of this community, he was an instructor at Western Washington State College Biology Dept. for the past 20 years. Survived by his wife, Lucille R., his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barron of Sumner, 2 brothers, Herbert C. of Sumner and John F., of VanNuys, Calif., 1 sister, Mrs. Roger D. Lien of Seattle, 7 nephews and nieces. PRIVATE family graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 8 at 11 a.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home with Dr. Vincent J. Crane, pastor at the Congregational Church officiating. Followed by memorial services at the Congregational Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8. Remembrances may be made to the Declan Barron Memorial Fund for the purchase of books on the history of Science for Western Washington State College.

BARRON, Elizabeth A., age 69, 2620 G Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, October 21, (1963). Mrs. Barron was a thirty-eight year resident of Bellingham, where she was a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S.; Epsilon Orthopedic Guild; Bayside Garden Club; Bellingham Music Club; Bellingham Golf & Country Club; PLF Club and the YWCA. Survivors are her husband, Virgil L., at home; two daughters, Mrs. John M. King, Tacoma; Mrs. Joseph E. Scott, city; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frazier, Seattle; Mrs. J. L. Gundiff, Walla Walla; two brothers, George and William A. McLaughlin, both of Yakima. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Ray S. BARRON, Margaret A., age 99 of 510 Magnolia, passed away at her home on Sunday July 29, (1962) following an extended illness. Mrs. Barron was a pioneer resident of Whatcom County having lived here for the past 79 years. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption. She leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Lila Siemons at home, Mrs. Clara Thee of Bellingham, one son Dr. Fred T. Barron of Santa Barbara, Calif., also four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption. BARRY, Edward, age 53 years, passed away at his home in Ferndale suddenly Friday morning, January 12, (1945). Mr. Barry was an employee of the county, a member of the Ferndale American Legion post and is survived by his widow, Pearl; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Hughes and Doris, both at home; his father, James Barry, in Canada; also seven brothers and one sister. The body rests at the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale where funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 15, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ray Wagoner officiating. BARRY, Inez - Services for former Custer resident Inez Barry, 80, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunrise Baptist Church in Custer, with the Rev. Jon Aldrich officiating. Burial will follow at Lynden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at Gillies Funeral Home. Mrs. Barry, formerly of 8952 Delta Line Road, died Thursday following a long illness. She was staying at an Everett nursing home, where she had been for several months. She was born Jan. 14, 1909, in Fremont, Neb. A resident of Whatcom County since she was 35, Mrs. Barry and her husband, Howard, moved in 1955 to Custer, where they ran an 80-acre farm. Their son, Leslie Barry, died in 1962 in Seattle. Howard Barry died in 1981 in Bellingham. Mrs. Barry was a secretary for Diamond B Plumbing and Heating in Bellingham for five years in the 1950s, then went to work for Holman Transfer in Ferndale until 1971, when she retired. A charter member of the Mount Baker Good Sam Club, Mrs. Barry also was a member of Sehome Chapter of Eastern Star, Rebekka Lodge of Custer, Sunrise Baptist Church, Delta Grange and Ferndale Senior Center. Survivors include a brother, Ernie Lindquist of Bellingham; a daughter, Judy Kuiken of Bothell; a son, Merle Barry of Coos Bay, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BARRY, Leslie Howard, age 33, of 144 No. Sams St., Monroe, Wash., passed away in a Seattle hospital, Wednesday, Nov. 28, (1962) following an extended illness. A resident of Whatcom County since 1944 he had made his home is Snohomish County since 1960. Surviving are his wife, Arlene; one son, Scott; one daughter, Linda, all at home; one brother, Merle of Roseburg, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Judy Kuiken of Rantoul, Ill.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Barry of Route 1, Custer. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., Rev. C. S. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynden Cemetery.

BARRY, Marie - Funeral services for Mrs. Marie L. Barry, 71, 2116 Fairhaven Ave., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (July, 1973) in Veroske's Funeral Home. She died Saturday. BARSNESS, Ella B., age 83, passed away at her home, 2002 C Street Wednesday, May 23, (1951). Mrs. Barsness had been a 33-year resident of this community and was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church. Surviving relatives include two sons, Orville and Arnold, both of Bellingham; five grandchildren; one sister in Norway and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. David S. Land, Friday, May 25, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

BARSNESS, Wayne A. - Services for former Bellingham resident Wayne A. Barsness, 52, of Everett, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bayview Cemetery. Mr. Barsness died Saturday in a Seattle hospital. He was born March 13, 1939, in Bellingham, and was a graduate of Bellingham High School and Western Washington University. He was a teacher at Washington High School in Everett before his retirement. Survivors include a brother, Loren L. Barsness of Seattle; a sister, Sharon L. BARSTAD, Stella Hilda, age 38, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, June 12, (1952) after an extended illness. Miss Barstad had been a resident of Ferndale for the past six years. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Pauline Barstad of Ferndale; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Buss, Ferndale; and Mrs. Clara Wilkinson, of Grygia, Minn.; four brothers, Ed, of Fargo, North Dakota; Bennie, Arthur, and John, all of Ferndale; also numerous nieces and nephews. BARSTOW, Thomas, age 92, of 2416 Keesling Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, July 16, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Barstow had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 45 years, and was a retired logger. He leaves no known surviving relatives. Rev. D. H. Gault will conduct services on Wednesday, July 19th, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns, followed by cremation.

BARTEL, Frances Esther - A memorial service for Frances Esther Bartel of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hopewell Grange with the Rev. Michael Estoos officiating. Mrs. Bartel died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 82. Born May 14, 1915, to Rafael and Irene Harris Garcia in Hanford, Calif., she lived in Whatcom County for 52 years. She married John Bartel on Sept. 3, 1932, in Santa Ana, Calif. Mrs. Bartel was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kendahl Hanowell. Survivors include her husband, son John Bartel of Everson, daughter Bernice Bartel of Bellingham, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters in California. BARTEL, Katie, age 68, of 1760 Kline Road, passed away Friday, May 20, (1955) at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Bartel was a former resident of Bakersfield, Calif., and had made her home with her sons here for the past few months. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Bakersfield. BARTELDS, Rose Marie – A memorial service for Rose Marie (Radonski) Bartelds of Everson will be at 11 a.m. today in Everson Park. Mrs. Bartelds died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 64. Mrs. Bartelds was born June 12, 1936 to Joseph and Clara (Polus) Radonski in Blaine. Mrs. Bartelds worked for Draper Valley Farms for 19 years. An animal lover, she enjoyed garage sales, growing sweet peas, vacationing in Hawaii and collecting brass and Garfield items. Her daughter Shari C. Bartelds, sister Pauline Hubbard and brother Raymond C. Radonski died previously. Survivors include son Mike Bartelds and daughters Barb and Vicki Bartelds, all of Sumas; brother Richard J. Mr. Bartell had resided in this community for the past 47 years and was a retired lumber worker of Bloedel-Donovan. BARTER, Lloyd Edward, 76, 5095 Mitchell, Road, Deming, a long-time area logger, died Monday in a Bellingham hospital. He was born July 18, 1908, in Arizona and had lived in Whatcom County most of his life. He was active in the Deming Logging Show, and was the show's 1977 "Bull of the Woods." He was vice president of the Deming Water Association. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Douglas, of Maple Falls; a daughter Janice Zender, of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. BARTER, Wilma Ione, age 80, passed away on June 19, 2002. She was born on August 8, 1921 in Bell Creek near Deming, WA to Robert and Constance (Rhuchty) Zwick. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Connie Zwick brother Jack Zwick and son-in-law Jim Brown. Wilma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Vernon daughters Peach Brown, Geri and George Valencia son Dale and Sharon Barter brother Lee and Judy Zwick sisters Jean Van Dyk, and Carol and Bill Vander Yacht 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. BARTLEY, Claude Samuel of Custer died at home Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997. He was 89. At his request, no services will be held. Raymond "Ray" Bartley of Portland, Ore., and Robert L. "Bob" Bartley of Oregon City, Ore.; daughter Sandra M. Scheffel of Richmond, B.C.; step-daughter Diane L. Burnette of Calgary, Alberta; sister Opal Bartley of Stansfield, Ore.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. BARTEVY, Joseph P., age 68, resided at 2383 North Shore Rd., passed away at his residence April 22, (1976). He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 29 years and was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of the United Mine Workers. BARTH, Mary C., age 84, of 1903 King Street, passed away at the family home Tuesday, March 27, (1951) following a lingering illness. BARTHEL, Leo F., age 47 years, 2406 Lynn Street, passed away suddenly at a local hospital, Wednesday, December 10, (1947) after a brief illness. Mr. Barthel had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-one years and was a public accountant and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Barthel; one son, Leo Carl Barthel, Portland, Ore., and a daughter, Dolores at home; one brother and two sisters in Germany, also numerous nieces and nephews. BARTHOLICK, George Ray, age 61, of 2615 G St., passed away in the Veterans hospital in Vancouver, Wash., Wednesday, Aug. 31, (1955). Mr. Bartholick had resided in this community for the past 35 years, was a shoemaker and a member of the First Christian Church and of the Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Ruth S. Bartholick at home; one son, George R. Jr., of Bellingham and one brother, Lee Bartholick of San Francisco. The remains will lie in state at Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home until time of services, which will be conducted by the Rev. C. BARTHOLICK, Thomas A., age 88 years, passed away Wednesday, March 7, (1945) at a local hospital following a short illness. He had resided at Bellingham for the past 23 years and was a member of the First Christian Church and a charter member of the "99" Sunday School Class. He is survived by two sons, George R., of Bellingham, and Otis L., of California; two grandsons, Robert H., U.S. navy and George R. Jr., U.S. Army Air Corps; one brother, George E., Wichita, Kansas. BARTHOLOMEW, E. H., age 69, of Route 3, Ferndale, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, (1956) at his home following and extended illness. He had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 25 years, and was a member of Kulshan Post No. 154, American Legion, and the Orchard Grange. Survivors include his wife Gertrude; one sister, Mrs. Esther Bardon of Toronto; three brothers, E. J. and Sam and Fred, all in England. BARTHOLOMEW, Clarence W., 75, of Sedro-Woolley died on Thursday (Sept. 5, 1991) in Bellingham. He was born on May 17, 1916, in Wichita, Kan. He and Bellingham native Lavina B. Murry married on June 3, 1947, in Everett. Mr. Bartholomew was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors in addition to his wife include: a son, Alvin Bartholomew of Angwin, Calif.; a daughter, Jean C. Kiely of Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada; and six grandchildren. BARTHOLOMEW, Mildred, age 64, of 505 Garden St. passed away in a local hospital Sunday, March 17, (1957). Miss Bartholomew had resided in this community for the past 14 years and was a Director of the Bellingham Young Womens Christian Association. Deceased was a graduate of Williamette University, and received her Master's Degree from Columbia University and was a member of the A.A.U.W. and St. James Presbyterian Church. Surviving relatives are two sisters, Miss Zola Bartholomew of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Helen B. Miller of Hillsboro, Ore.; one brother Philip J. BARTHROP, Gertrude M., age 75, of 310 Palm Street, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, September 1, (1949). Mrs. Barthrop had resided at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. K. McMillin, for the past year and prior to that time had resided in Port Townsend for 53 years. BARTL, E. Dave, age 85 of Camano Island, Wa., passed away Sun., Feb. 15, (1976) in a Seattle hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1890 in Cleark Lake, WA. and had served with the Port Townsend Police Dept. for 17 years. He was Deputy Sheriff for Jefferson County from 1936-1941 and Port Townsend Chief of Police from 1941 to 1947. He built and operated Elger Bay Grocery on Camano Island for 25 years, retiring in 1970. Mr. Bartl was a member of the Washington Police Officers Association and Camano Island Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife, Florence at home; one son, Clyde Bartl of Bellevue; one stepdaughter, Mrs. C.J. Hein of Snohomish; brother-in-law, John Hinds of Mt. BARTLESON, Ellen H., 78, a Skagit County resident died at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon Monday, April 10, 1995. She was born in Seattle, February 28, 1917 the daughter of Captain Lars and Allie Little Blackman. She was raised on Orcas Island until 7 years old and at that time moved to Bellingham with her parents. She was educated there and graduated from the Whatcom High School, now known as the Bellingham High School. In 1939 she moved to California and returned to Bellingham in 1945. She married James B. Bartleson in Bellingham, WA November 4, 1946. The couple lived in Renton, Pendleton, Oregon and Medina, Washington prior too settling in Anacortes in 1956. She came to live in Mount Vernon in 1994 where she has resided since. She had been active throughout her life in The Eagles Auxiliary, The American Legion Auxiliary, The March of Dimes campaigns and in political circles. Survivors are: 1 daughter and son-in-law, Judi and David Berlin, 2 grandchildren, John Berlin, James and his wife Elaine Berlin, 2 great grandchildren, Lindsey Rose Berlin and Nolan James Berlin all of Anacortes, a brother-in-law Eddy Barleston (sic) and a sister-in-law Margaret Shave all of Bellingham, and nieces and nephews. Her parents, her husband, and 1 grandson Charles preceded her in death. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral services. Cremation has been held at the Mount Vernon Crematory under the direction of the Kern Funeral Home.

BARTLETT, John C. "Bud", 59, of Centralia, died Friday (1973) in a Seattle Hospital. Private family services on Tuesday were followed by interment in that city's Mountainview Cemetery. Mr. Bartlett was a former production manager for Lynden Berry Growers before moving to Centralia five years ago to assume managership of Symon's Frozen Foods. BARTON, Robert O., age 72 of Bellingham, passed away October 8, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 27, 1925 in Missoula, Montana to Ernest William and Lena Mirl (McCauley) Barton. Robert married Jo Ellen Dunlap in Livingston, Montana June 4, 1944. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. Robert and Jo Ellen came to Bellingham in 1947. Bart worked as owner and operator of Fairhaven Mobil and later was owner and operator of Bonnie Rest Mattress Co. He retired in 1989. Mr. Barton was a very concerned individual who, through his company, gave many young people a start in their business careers. He was a devoted family man and was an avid outdoor enthusiast and fisherman. Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beatrice Koch. Survived by his loving wife, Jo Ellen Barton of Bellingham; sons, Robert William Barton of North Bend, Daniel Albert Barton of Spokane and Jeffery Carl Barton of Bellingham; five grandchildren, Joel Beath, Michael Barton, Reid Barton, Chandra Barton and Luke Barton; and one great-grandchild. BARTOO, Paul Ackley, age 63, of Sumas, Route 1, passed away in Seattle, November 27, (1946). He had been a resident of Sumas since 1902 and was a member of the Sumas Valley Grange and the Whatcom County Dairy Association. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Vesta H. BARTOO, Vesta Hannum, age 66 years, of 2229 James Street, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, February 24, (1948) following a long illness. Mrs. Bartoo had been a former resident of Sumas and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Floy McCann, Seattle, Mrs. Leta Edin, Route 2, Lynden; two sons, Cecil, Auburn, and Howard, of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Young, Sierra Madre, Calif., Mrs. Elsie Grant, Mrs. Sadie Scott, both of Sacramento, Calif., and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted, Friday, February 27, at 10 a.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas with H. L. Richardson, of Bellingham officiating. Burial in Washelli Cemetery in Seattle.

BARTRON, Ronald Reid, Jr., age 16, of 4810 Rural Ave., B'ham, passed away Sat., July 7, 1979. Ronald was a lifetime resident of Whatcom Co. A member of the Ferndale High School class of 1980 & was a member of the High School Wrestling Team. He is survived by his parents; Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Schuler of B'ham. Ron Bartron Sr. & his wife of Newport, Ore. Brothers; Glenn at home, 2 brothers in Oregon. Sisters; Valerie & Dawn both at home. Grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Roy Kuhns of B'ham., Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Schuler of Lummi Island, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bartron of Vancouver, WA. Great grandmother, Leah Anable of Portland. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Robert E. Johnson, Wed., July 11 at 1:30 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery. Burial under the direction of Moles Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Ferndale High School Athletic Dept. [motorcycle accident on Pacific Highway south of Slater Road; suffered head injuries when he failed to negotiate a curve and his motorcycle rolled over.]

BARTSCH, Gladys H., age 67 of Blaine passed away in a Bellingham hospital Saturday, March 17, (1962) following a sudden illness. She was born in Nova Scotia and had resided in Blaine since 1927. She was the president of the M.A.C. Club and had been treasurer of the Congregational Women's Fellowship for the past 20 years. Surviving are her husband, Frank of Blaine; 1 son, William McCool of Santa Ana, Calif.; 1 daughter, Mrs. Barbara Gerrard of Los Alamitos, Calif.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Muriel Minkner and Mrs. Averil Wheson both of Los Angeles, Calif. Also 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the McKinney Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudolph Schnabel officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the Bartsch Foundation of the Women's Fellowship at the Blaine Congregational Church.
