BLACK, George Dow, age 72, passed away suddenly at his apartment, 212 Champion St., Sunday, March 15, (1959). Mr. Black had been a resident of this community and before his retirement had been a tugboat captain for Bellingham Tug & Barge. Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. May Olson of Sedro Woolley, and many nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Thursday, March 19, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

BLACK, Nettie J., age 90 of 1801 "I" St., passed away Wednesday, March 16, (1966). She had been a resident the past 45 years. She is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Louise Parker; 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Gleason, Sumner, and Ronald Ferry, city. BLACKBURN, Bertha Jane, age 80, of 1006 No. Garden St., passed away in a local rest home, Tuesday, May 9, (1961) following a brief illness. Mrs. Blackburn had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1910 and had made her home in the Sumas area until 1942 when she moved to Bellingham. She is survived by two sons, Chester and Herbert, both of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Tyler of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Lura Dameron of Sedro Woolley. Also five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas, Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Roddey officiating. Burial in the Sumas Cemetery.

BLACKBURN, Dorothy Maude, age 42 years, of 1006 Garden St., passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, Dec. 15, (1954) following an extended illness. Mrs. Blackburn had been a resident of this community for the past 10 years and is survived by her husband, Hubert A. Blackburn; one daughter, Sally Ann, at home; her mother, Mrs. Pearl Straw of Turlock, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Neary of Caldwell, Idaho. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. BLACKBURN, George E., age 66, of 9281 Stein Rd., Custer, passed away Tues., Sept. 6, (1977). A resident of the Custer area since 1920, he had owned and operated Blackburn's Store on the Delta Line Rd. for 25 years, he also had worked at the commissary at Ft. Graham, Alaska. He was a member of the Custer Sportsmans Club, the Rifleman's Assn. and the Delta Grange. Surviving a sister, Beatrice Johnson of Lynden; a brother, Frank of Custer; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home, Thurs., Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Hartley Christensen officiating. Burial in Haynie Cemetery.

BLACKBURN, Hubert A., age 70, of Seattle, passed away Sun. April 1, 1979. Mr. Blackburn had resided in Seattle for the past 10 years & was a former longtime resident of B'ham. in which he was a retired businessman being the former owner of the Blackburn Office Equipment. He leaves to survive 1 daughter, Sally Lundgren of 4287 King Dr., West Richland, WA. 99352. 2 grandchildren, 1 brother, C.A. Blackburn of Puyallup, 1 sister, Vera Tyler of Palmer, Alaska. BLACKBURN, Ida May, age 91, of 2428 Nevada Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, May 24, (1953). Mrs. Blackburn had resided here for the past 15 years and was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura Atwood, of this city, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. C. Eugene Sabin Wednesday, May 27, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

BLACKBURN, Lewis Alfred, age 70 years, of 1006 N. Garden, Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 24, (1958) following a lingering illness. He was a former resident of Sumas since 1909, and had resided in Bellingham the past 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Bertha J. Blackburn; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Tyler; 2 sons, Chester A. and Hubert A., all of Bellingham; five grandchildren; one sister, Eva Barnes, of Shawnee, Oklahoma. BLACKBURN, Mary E., age 96 years, of 2217 Henry Street, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, March 21, (1953) following a lingering illness. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past four years. Mrs. Blackburn is survived by two daughters, Myrtle Sehorn, of Rt. 4, Snohomish, Mrs. Opal Fry, of Sedro Woolley; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 24, at 1 p.m. within the Bakeman and Whyte Chapel in Snohomish under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Machias Cemetery.

BLACKMAN, Clemence T., age 67, of 2838 Nevada St., passed away Sunday, June 25, 1978. Mr. Blackman was a 25 year resident of the community, an iron worker, member of William Matthews Post No. 1585 VFW, and the Iron Workers Union Local No. 505. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; 1 son, Clemence M. Blackman of this city; 4 daughters, Mrs. Donna Melland, city, Patricia Torres, San Jose, Calif., Sheila M. Blackman, Ketchikan, Alaska and Jacque L. BLACKMAN, E. J., age 81 years, of Glacier Star Route, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, January 22, (1946) following a lingering illness. He was formerly operator of the stage between Mosquito Lake and Bellingham. Mr. Blackman is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva M. Blackman, and one son, Donald of Bellingham. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Thursday, January 24, at 10 a. m. with Rev. Clarence Haugen officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.

BLACKMAN, Eva, age 82, formerly of the American Hotel, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, April 30, (1961). Widow of the late Edward J. Blackman, she resided in the Wickersham and Deming areas from 1908 to 1946 and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 15 years. Survivors are one son, Donald Blackman, of Bellingham; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Sickles, in Michigan. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Don Kaelin Tuesday, May 2 at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

BLACKMAN, Merrill Dean (Rusty), 2838 Nevada St., age 26, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, (Oct. 1974). A 20 year resident of this city, Mr. Blackman was a 1965 graduate of Bellingham High School and served with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam for 4 years. He was a firemen for the Alaska Railroad. BLACKSTOCK, William Charles, age 92, of 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday, June 6, (1962). Mr. Blackstock was a retired carpenter, and had resided in this community for the past 52 years. He was a member of the Carpenters and Jointers Union, Local No. 756, and the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 31. Survivors are two sons, William H. Blackstock of Bellingham; G. Earl Blackstock, Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Case and Mrs. Rolland Paus, both of Bellingham; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Blackstock, Pennsylvania, and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Holt in Pennsylvania. BLACKSTOCK, William H., age 70 of 1313 E. Maryland, passed away Monday, October 5, (1964). Mr. Blackstock was a U. S. Army veteran of WWW I and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years. He was a member of Laurel Post No. 3685, VFW, Carpenters Local 765. Survivors include his wife, Mabel; 1 daughter, Mrs. Jane Warner of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Mrs. Harold Case and Mrs. Charlotte Paus, both of Bellingham; 1 brother, Earl of Seattle; numerous other relatives. BLACKSTONE, Ernest G., of Walla Walla, Wash., formerly of Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital, Friday, July 14, (1961). He is survived by 4 sons, Lowell of this city, Dale of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Denny of Payette, Idaho, Ernest of Fresno, Calif., 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 brother in California. The body will be forwarded to Walla Walla for interment.

BLACKSTONE, Lowell Guy, age 62 of Everett, died Aug. 10, 1978. He was born July 20, 1916 in Missouri & had come to Eastern Washington in 1927. He had lived in B'ham for 32 years before moving to Everett 5 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ & the International Woodworkers of America Local No. 3-101, Everett. He is survived by his wife, Eilene of the home; son, Beryl Blackstone of Burlington; 2 sisters, Lowene Dickenson & Loretta English both of Seattle; 3 brothers, Dale Blackstone of Kansas City, MO, Denny Blackstone of Payette, Idaho & Ernest Blackstone of Fresno, CA.; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews. BLACKWELL, Louise, age 67, of 413 Maple St., passed away as the result of an accident, Friday, Jan. 8, (1954). Miss Blackwell had resided in this community for many years and had been associated with the Y. W. C. A. and was a member of Payette Chap. No. 20, O. E. S. of Payette, Idaho. BLAIR, Frank Hill, age 57, of 1015 Samish Highway, passed away at home, Monday, Aug. 24, (1959). Mr. Blair had resided in Bellingham for the past three years and leaves to survive his widow, Pearle, at home; mother, Mrs. Effie Blair of Victor, Mont.; three brothers, Edward of Victor, Mont., Lee of Kalispell, Mont. and Louis, of Hamilton, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Johnsie Hinman of Victor, Mont., and Mrs. Lucille Smith of Havre, Mont. BLAIR, Margaret Lewis, who wrote a "Shopping with Sally" column and started an interest in recipes on (sic) The Bellingham Herald from 1928 to the early 1930s, died March 22, (1978) at her Merced, Calif., home. She had last visited Bellingham when she attended the 50th reunion of her Fairhaven High class in 1974. She is survived by a sister, Marigen Atkins, of Bellingham, and a brother in Seattle.

BLAIR, Marie Idella, age 38, of 2814 Lyle St., passed away at home Sunday, April 14, (1957). Mrs. Blair had resided in this community the past 11 years and was a member of the Congregational Church. BLAIR, Martha, age 86, of 2231 Williams Street, passed away in a local hospital, Saturday, March 5, (1955). Mrs. Blair had resided in Bellingham for the past 55 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Blair at the family home; two sons, Robert Jr. and Gerald Blair; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Placker, all of this city; six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Isabella Blair of Powell River, B. BLAISDELL, Mabel, age 60, of Ellensburg, passed away in that city, Friday, September 23, (1949). Mrs. Blaisdell was a former resident of the Lynden district. Surviving relatives include her husband, George Blaisdell; her mother, Mrs. J. J. BLAKE, Annetta, age 74 of 1475 Grant St. passed away in a local hospital on Saturday, Aug. 20, (1960) following an extended illness. Mrs. Blake had resided in Bellingham for the past 43 years. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption and a past member of the Altar Society. She leaves to survive four sons, Richard J., George T., Alving E. of Bellingham and Robert D. of Seattle, one daughter Irene V. Blake of Bellingham, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. BLAKE, Chester T., 1423 Lake Whatcom Blvd., age 61, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, (1974). A 22 year resident, Mr. Blake was owner and operator of the Geneva Grocery Store. He was a member of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 American Legion and Bellingham Lodge No. 194 BPOE. Surviving are his wife, Eileen; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George Blake, Plainfield, Illinois an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Blake. BLAKE, George N., a lifetime resident of the community, died Wednesday, December 20, (1972). he lived at 430 16th Street. He was a retired assistant manager of Seattle First National Bank, the Bellingham branch. He was 73 years of age at the time of death and a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Bellingham Bay Masonic Lodge 44, F & AM. Surviving him are the widow, Grace; two sons, Edward, Bellingham and John, Cypress, California; a daughter Jane Bourlier, Seattle; a sister Mrs. John Williams, Bellingham; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were directed by Westford Funeral Home.

BLAKE, George Washington, age 66, of Marysville, passed away suddenly at Cultus Lake, B. C., Saturday, May 14, (1949). Mr. Blake had been a resident of Sumas for the past three months. Mrs. Blake had been a resident of Bellingham for many years, and was retired from the Registrar Office & Book Store at WWU. BLAKE, Henry J., age 80 of Rt. 1, Blaine, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Feb. 20, (1970). A retired custodian engineer for the Seattle School District, he had made his home in Blaine for the past 11 years. Surviving are his wife Rose; 1 sister, Mrs. Alice Lichenberger and a niece Mrs. Marjorie Chapin, both of Seattle. Funeral services will be held at Veroske-McKinneys Funeral Home, Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Walter at 3:00 p.m. in Washelli Mausoleum in Seattle with officers of Arcana Lodge No. 87 F&AM in charge.

BLAKE, Mary Irene, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2007, in Bellingham. She was born October 30, 1919 to Gerta and Alfred Quinn in Vancouver, B.C. She grew up in New Westminster where she met and married her husband Bob. They moved to Coquitlam when their children were young. Mary was elected to two terms as president of the PTA at Mountain View Elementary School where her children were students. Mary and Bob were avid award winning golfers. They built the Orcas Island Golf Club in 1961 and owned and operated it for approximately 20 years. Mary and Bob became naturalized citizens of the U.S. in 1968. Mary continued to be active in numerous organizations. She received her Masters degree in China painting, was a singer in the choir at the Orcas Island Episcopal Church and enjoyed many winters golfing on Kauai and Palm Springs. Mary loved flowers and created beautiful gardens wherever she lived. She was also a beloved member of the "Red Hat" ladies group and loved to model in fashion shows. Everyone that knew her admired her vitality, strength and love for family, friends and flowers. She left a mark on many peoples lives. Mary was most recently and sadly preceded in death by her son Robert F. Blake. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Quinn; sisters, Gertrude Armstrong and Freda Drake. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert E. Blake of Bellingham; daughters Jeri O’Hara (Warren) of Vancouver, B.C.; Sharon Haire of Newport Beach, CA; granddaughters Chantelle Blake of Orcas Island, WA; Cherie O'Callaghan (Michael) and great-grandson Finn O'Callaghan of Haverford, PA. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Merrill Gardens.

BLAKE, Mary Jane, age 82, of 430 Sixteenth Street, passed away at the family home Thursday, October 29, (1953). Mrs. Blake had resided in this community for the past 56 years and was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church. Surviving relatives include one son, George N. BLAKE, Norman T., age 61 of Bellingham, passed away November 14, 2003 at his home. He was born August 9, 1942 in Fort Worth, TX and he served his country in the Army. Norm worked for the Tapley's at Skagit Ford Subaru for many years and his work was very important to him. He loved to golf, watch sports and his grandkids were very important to him. He was preceded in death by his wife Gei in 2001. He is survived by his son Derek and wife Suzan and their children Taylor and Katie, all of Bellingham; daughter Halee Blake of Bellingham, and sister-in-law Jan Langton of CA. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Nov 21 at 11 a.m. at Shuksan Golf Club, Bellingham.

BLAKE, Robert A., age 79 years, of 1475 Grant Street, passed away at the family home, Saturday, Dec. 5, (1953) following a brief illness. Mr. Blake had resided in Bellingham since 1917. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Elks Lodge B. P. O. E. No. 194, and the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Ass'n. Mr. Blake is survived by his wife, Annetta Blake; four sons, Robert D. of Seattle, George T., Richard J., Alvin F., and one daughter, Miss Irene Blake, all of Bellingham; two brothers, Arthur Blake in San Francisco, and Morrison Blake of New York City; one sister, Mrs. Min Bryant of Rochester, N.Y., and eight grandchildren. The Rev. James M. Wilson will officiate at funeral services Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist-Jerns Funeral Home, followed by the ritualistic services of the Elks Lodge. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

BLAKE, Thomas, age 82, 2413 Lynn Street, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, (1966). Mr. Blake had resided in this City the past ten years, and was a retired Barber. He was a 50 year member of Wilmington Lodge No. 208, F.&A.M., Wilmington, Ill.; Modern Woodmen of America, and the Barbers Local in Joliet, Ill. Survivors are a son, Chester, of this City; four brothers, Henry Blake, Van Nuys, Calif.; George Blake of Plainfield, Ill.; Richard and Benjamin Blake of Habenmoore, Sask. Services were conducted today, Feb. 4 by Chester Rutledge at 3:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. The remains will be forwarded to Aneroid, Saskatchewan for burial.

BLAKELY, David W., aged 75 years, passed away Tuesday evening in a Bellingham hospital. He had been ill for sometime and had resided in Blaine for the past 32 years. Surviving are three sons, Stewart of Blaine, Fred of Bellingham and Edward in the U. S. Navy; a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Weeman in Oregon; a brother, William in Ontario; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at the Purdy & McKinney Funeral Home awaiting word from relatives for funeral arrangements.

BLAKELY, Edward A., age 68, resident of LaConner passed away in Island Hospital, Anacortes Sat. Jan. 7th, (1978?). He was born in Fargo, N. Dakota Aug. 15, 1909. He was raised in Blaine where he graduated from high school. He attended college in B'ham. & Ellensburg. He was married to Myrtle Martin May 29, 1939 in Everett. Mr. Blakely was employed with the Columbia Cement Co. until retiring in 1967. He had been a resident of LaConner the past 9 years. Survivors; wife Myrtle of LaConner. Step-daughter Mrs. Lorraine Wargo of Enumclaw. 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Sister, Jennie Weeman of Mill Valley, CA. Brother, Fred Blakely of B'ham. BLAKESLEE, Lewis A., age 70 years, a resident of the county for the past 40 years, passed away suddenly at his home, Route 1, Ferndale, Monday afternoon, March 19, (1945). Mr. Blakeslee was a Grange member and a member of the North Bellingham Methodist Church. He is survived by the widow, Minnie; six daughters, Mrs. Florence Ross, Route 1, Ferndale, Mrs. Virginia Nelson and Mrs. Mary Larson, both of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Beth Ferri, Spokane, Mrs. Jean Kunzman, Bellingham, Mrs. Grace Bartelds, Everson; three sons, William, Vancouver, Wash., Frank, in the Middle West and Berton in the U. BLAKEWAY, Edith M., age 57, of Everson, passed away at her daughter's home on Tues., Dec. 23, 1997 from cancer. She was born May 24, 1940, in Bellingham to Mervin and Myrtle (Burdick) Armstrong and graduated from Bellingham High School. Her hobbies included bingo, crocheting, bowling, and playing Yahtzee. Edith was loved very much by her family here in Washington and her extended family in Montana. We are extremely grateful to have had her at home with us, as she wanted. BLAKEWAY, Hubert D., age 63, of Tillicum Beach, Camano Island, formerly of Bellingham-Ferndale area, died Tues. May 4th, (1976) while on vacation in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born July 30, 1912 in Blue Hill, Neb. And as a young boy moved with his family to Beattie & Summerfield, Kansas. Married to Vera Holloway in July of 1931. Living in Kansas & Neb. moving to Bellingham-Ferndale area in 1954. Worked for the Coast Truck Lines, which is now O.N.C., retiring in 1973. They had resided on Camano Island since 1974. Mr. Blakeway attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 231 of Bellingham. He is survived by his wife, Vera at home, 4 sons, Max of Jessup, Iowa, Dale & Bill both US Marine Corp Base, 20 Palms, Calif., Roger of Ferndale, one daughter, Mrs. James (Beverly) Taylor of Seattle, one brother, Gordon of Marysville, Kan. One sister, Maude Koch of Lincoln, Neb., 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 14 at the Camino Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. BLALOCK, Seth W., age 57, a resident of Ferndale for 18 years, died March 10, 1997, at his home from esophageal cancer. He was born March 5, 1940, in Greensboro, N.C. He married Carmen Lydia Cabeza on March 28, 1959, in Miami, Fla. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 19 years, and for U.S. Customs for 18 years. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, of Everson; son Wesley Blalock and wife Marie of Brewster, Wash.; granddaughter Amanda Blalock of Brewster; daughter Lydia Blalock of Olympia; sister Evangeline Parker of Florida; brother David Blalock of Florida, Paul Blalock of Colorado and Matthew Blalock of Idaho; mother-in-law Carmen Cabeza of Everson; a favorite niece, Patricia Quintana of California; and numbers other family members. Mrs. Bland was a former owner of Highland Nursing Home and owned and operated the Olympic Treatment Center in Bellingham which specializes in alcohol abuse, and Olympic Center Preston in Kingwood which specializes in adolescent drug abuse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Bland; a son Ted Rawls; and a granddaughter Bobbi Jo Trickett. Survivors include sons Robert K. Trickett of Yuma, Ariz. and Todd Rawls of San Francisco; brothers Blair West and Doyle West, both of Morgantown, WVa; sisters Thelma Currence of Wilkins, WVa, Cecile Roth of Vancouver, Wash and Joyce Nisbett of Jasper, Ga.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

BLAND, Thomas Milton, age 69 years, of 204 Flora Street, passed away at his home Thursday morning, September 18, (1947). He had resided in Bellingham for the past forty-five years and prior to his retirement he had worked as city water inspector for thirty-five years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons, Ellis, William and Clyde, all of Bellingham, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home Saturday, September 20, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ivan B. Bell of the First Baptist Church officiating. BLANK, John H., age 81 years, of 1509 East Victor St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Jan. 4, (1956). He was a former resident of the Lynden district. BLANKENBURG, Helen Lucille, age 33 of Everett, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, June 9, (1955) as a result of an accident. Mrs. Blankenburg was an employee of the Everett Pulp Co. She is survived by her husband, Ernest B.; three children, Danny, Judy and Dean, all at home; three brothers and one sister, all of Everett. Arrangements are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.

BLANKENFORTH, Howard - Burial for Howard Blankenforth of Lynden will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in New Life Fellowship with Pastor Ron Slater officiating. Blankenforth died at his home near Lynden on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997. He was 81. Born June 18, 1916, to Gilbert and Anna (Rader) Blankenforth, Howard Blankenforth lived his entire life on the land homesteaded by his grandfather in the 1800s. He graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1939 and was a dairy farmer until 1957. He was an avid collector of antique cars and farm machinery, and was a lifetime member of the Lynden Pioneer Museum and Puget Sound Antique Tractor Association. He is survived by a son, Steve, of Lynden, four grandchildren and many cousins. Services are by Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

BLANKENSHIP, George E. - Olympia, August 16. - Masonic funeral services were set for this afternoon for George E. Blankenship, 89, native-born Olympia pioneer, founder of the Olympia Daily Recorder, forerunner of the present Daily Olympian. He died Thursday (Nov. 1948) at Seattle at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. V. Abel, with whom he had made his home. He was born here July 17, 1858. His father, Col. George C. Blankenship, served under Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens in the early Indian Wars and was sheriff of Thurston County in territorial days. He was educated in the territorial university & worked as a compositor & printer in Seattle - San Francisco before starting the Daily Recorder. ...(not finished)

BLANKERS, Arnold A., 67 years of age, passed away suddenly in a Bellingham hospital Tuesday afternoon, December 21, (1943). He was born December 2, 1876, in Veen, The Netherlands. The widow, Helena, survives, and also six sons, Bertis, Arnold, Robert, Gerrit, Ernest and Ceger, all of the Lynden district; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Bajema, Lynden, and Mrs. Gladys Cook, Portland; two brothers, L. Blankers, of Lynden and Ceger, of the Netherlands; three sisters, Nellie, Pternella and Marie, all of The Netherlands, and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 24, at 2 p.m., in the First Christian Reformed Church of Lynden, by Rev. D. Hollebeck, under the direction of Knapp & Knapp. Interment will be in Monumenta Cemetery.

BLANKERS, Hilda L. - Visitation for Hilda L. (Brune) Blankers of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, followed by a 2 p.m. funeral service at Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Revs. Jack Gray and Dick Vriesman officiating. Mrs. Blankers died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 91. Born June 11, 1909, to Berendand Tjeske (Dykstra) Brune in Bemis, S.D., her family moved to Whatcom County that same year. On Dec. 2, 1931, she married Ernest Blankers in Lynden. He died in 1996. Mrs. Blankers was a charter member of Third Christian Reformed Church and she was active in the church's Faith & Hope Women's Bible Study. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Six brothers, four sisters and one great-grandchild also died previously. Survivors include sons Arvin Blankers of Lynden and Barry Blankers of Ocheyedan, Iowa; daughters Sally Bouman of San Jose, Calif., and Sheila Bolkema of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sister Minnie Osberg of Bellingham; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

BLANKERS, Laurens, age 77 years, of Lynden, passed away suddenly at his home, Friday morning, August 30, (1946). He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Rutgers Blankers; one daughter, Bertha Blankers, of Lynden; six sons, Gerrit, Cornelius, Laurens, Bert, Anthony and Maurice, all in Iowa; four step-children, Mrs. G. Hoeksema, of Chicago, Herman and Dick Rutgers and Mrs. Egbert Kok, all of Lynden; also fourteen grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with Rev. J. F. Schuurmann officiating. The remains will be shipped to Sheldon, Iowa, for interment.

BLIESNER, Clarence A. - Services are pending for 95-year-old Clarence A. "Bliss" Bliesner, 420 16th St, who died Saturday (Jan. 20, 1990) in a Bellingham nursing home. He was born Oct. 14, 1894, in Corning, Kan. He was a Whatcom County resident since 1963. Mr. Bliesner was a 50-year member of Acacia Lodge No. 9, F.&A.M., in Lawrence, Kan., and York Rite Bodies. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War I who received a Purple Heart. Survivors include: a son Clarence A. Bliesner Jr., of Bellingham; a daughter, Marian Henderson, Bellingham; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with Jones Funeral Home.

BLISS, Carolyn Sue, age 19, of 6886 Vista Dr., Ferndale passed away Thurs., Aug. 11, (1977). Carolyn had been a resident of Ferndale her entire lifetime. BLISS, Charles King, age 80 years, of East Sound, Wash., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, August 2, (1953) following a lingering illness. BLISS, Milton, age 73, of 900 Roeder Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Dec. 15, (1953). Mr. Bliss had been a life resident of this community and was a retired carpenter. BLIVEN, James Albert - Visitation for James "Jim" Albert Bliven of Bellingham will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Greenacres Funeral Home near Ferndale. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Husman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Bliven died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at his home. He was 58. Born Feb. 9, 1941, to Kenneth and Mina (Van Etten) Bliven in Bellingham, he had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident. On Jan. 18, 1964, he married Corrine Pruno in Bellingham. Mr. Bliven worked for the Bellingham Fire Department for 22 years before retiring in 1989. Mr. Bliven was a member of Bellingham Moose Lodge No. 493. An avid gardener, he loved hunting and camping and converting buses into motor homes. His brother, Harold Bliven, preceded him in death. BLIVEN, Mary E., age 74 years, of Lynden, passed away in Carson City, Nev., (July, 1951) following a short illness. She had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past 27 years and leaves to survive, four daughters, Mrs. Edna Look, of Hood River, Ore., Mrs. Della Edwards, of Puyallup, Wash., Mrs. Blanche Loucks, of Fife Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Bernice Young, of Ferndale; two sons, Leroy of Portland, Ore., and Wesley, of Bellingham; also 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. BLIVEN, Wesley J., age 83, 3226 McLeod Rd., Bellingham, passed away in Bellingham on Tues., Dec. 25, 1984. Born April 16, 1901 in St. Joseph's, Missouri, Mr. Bliven moved to Whatcom County from Montana in 1924. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated a barber shop in Maple Falls for many years. He was married to Laura Brewster in Saskatchewan, Canada on April 19, 1918. BLOCK, Ben, age 65, of 2316 J Street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday morning, April 3, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mr. Block was born in Lithuania and had been a resident of Bellingham for the last 35 years. Surviving relatives include his wife Rose, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Sullivan, both at home, and a son, Myer Block, of Olympia. BLOCK, Rose, age 74, of 2316 J St., passed away Monday, December 20, (1965) in a local hospital following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 55 years. BLOCKLEY, Susan H. - Funeral services for Mrs. Susan H. Blockley, Deming, have been scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home. Mrs. Blockley, 63, died in an auto accident Wednesday (Oct. 14, 1970). A 34-year resident of Whatcom County, she was owner of the Tel-Su-Hobby Shop, and was a member of the Baptist Church. BLOCKLEY, William Howard Sr., age 51, Glacier Star Route, Deming, passed away in a local hospital Monday, Nov. 5, (1962). Mr. Blockley had resided in the Deming area for the past 26 years; was a retired logger, had been a fire warden for the Washington Department of Natural Resources for many years, and was a member of the Baptist Church. BLODGETT, Anton, age 84, of 1509 E. Victor, passed away at a local hospital Monday, March 26, (1951) following a short illness. Mr. Blodgett was a member of the Church of the Assumption. BLODGETT, Clifford Leroy, age 58, of 2841 McLeod Road, passed away at his home Thursday, Feb. 11, (1954). Mr. Blodgett had resided in Bellingham for the past 49 years and had served with the Bellingham Police Department for many years, as police chief and in many other capacities, currently holding the position as assistant chief of police. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, had served with the U. S. Marines during the first World War, was a member of the American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, the 40 et 8, the William Matthews Post No. 1535 of the V.F.W., was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Police Academy in 1943, was a member of the Northwest Check Investigators and the Washington Police Officers Association. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Blodgett at home; a son, Clayton Blodgett; a daughter, Mrs. Ermine Hendrix; three grandchildren, Sandra, Karen and Lawrie Hendrix; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Depew, all of Bellingham; and a great number of other relatives. She leaves her husband, Tors of the family home; 1 son, William of Sultan; 4 daughters, Miss Patricia Blondell of Bellingham, Helen and her husband, Ken Hayes of Monroe, Elsie and her husband, Raymond Roberts of Lynden, Mary and her husband, Gary Novak of Sultan; 7 grandchildren. BLONDEN, Laura G., age 73, of 1618 Iron Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, May 6, (1947). Mrs. Blonden had been a resident of this community for sixty-two years, and was a member of the Maccabees, W. C. T. U., was county superintendent of schools in Island County for two years, and taught in the city and county schools for fifteen years. She was a member of the Pioneers of Whatcom County, and the Garden Street Methodist Church. Mrs. Blonden was the widow of the late M. W. Blonden, for many years circulation manager of The Bellingham Herald. Surviving relatives are one son, Milton M., of Cashmere, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Fountain, Lynden. BLONDHEIM, Eunice - Funeral services for a longtime Ferndale resident, Eunice Blondheim, 83, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Home. She died Tuesday (September 11, 1973) following an extended illness. Mrs. Blondheim formerly owned and operated a beauty shop in Ferndale. A resident since 1912, she was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Rebekah Activity Lodge Royal Neighbors of America. In addition to the husband, Maurice, she is survived by one son, Farold McCarthy of Ferndale; grandson Larry McCarthy of Federal Way; three granddaughters, Delores Grout, Ferndale, Eunice Boyer, Portsmouth, Va., Betty Garrard, Wheatridge, Colo. 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. BLONDHEIM, Maurice J.,. age 91, 1200 Birchwood Ave., Bellingham, passed away Wed. Oct. 24, 1979. He was born Aug. 1, 1888 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. BLONDELL, Bert Gustav, 78, died Monday November 2, 1992 in Bellingham, WA. Funeral will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA. at 1 p.m.mThursday. He was born April 14, 1914 in Alberta, Canada to William and Sophie (Anderson) Blondell. He married Doris Marie Scott on December 23, 1936 in Port Orchard, and moved to Whatcom County in 1944. Mr. Blondell was president of Blondell Bros. Logging. He retired in 1977. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his son James Walter Blondell and two brothers Ernest and Roy. He is survived by his wife Doris of Bellingham, daughters Carole Rauch of Bellingham and Sally Erickson of Carson, WA.; a brother Tors Blondell of Duval, WA.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

BLONDELL, Doris Marie, 82, of Bellingham died on Tuesday May 1, 2001 in Bellingham. Doris was born on October 10, 1918 in St. Paul Demitis, Alberta, Canada to George and Mary (Kelly) Scott. She had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1944. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting for family and reading books. She married Bert Blondell on December 23, 1936 in Port Orchard, WA. Doris and Bert spent 56 years together until his passing November 2, 1992. She was also preceded in death by their son James Walter Blondell on January 30, 1991; and two brothers Wallace and Alan Scott. Doris is survived by her daughters Carole and husband John Rauch of Bellingham and Sally Ann and husband William Erickson of Carson, WA., eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister Bernice Knapp of Gig Harbor, WA; brother Lewis Scott of Gig Harbor; numerous nieces and nephews.

BLOOD, Clara L., age 93 years, of 1507 Lincoln Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, October 2, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Blood had been a resident of this community for the past 48 years and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Obert LaBree, of Moxee City, Wash.; one son, William Morgan, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with Elder R. J. Winders, pastor, officiating. Interment, Woodlawn.

BLOOM, Aline, age 87 years, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Thursday morning, September 30, (1948). Mrs. Bloom had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past sixty years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland C. Richards, of Bellingham; one son, Homer, of Lynden; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 2, at 2:30 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. Cecil Barner officiating. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery at Clearbrook.

BLOOM, Emma P., age 70 of 1423 Alabama, passed away Saturday July 10, (1976). A resident of this community for the past 60 years, Mrs. Bloom was a member of Calvary Temple. Surviving 1 daughter, Mrs. Pauline Ingersoll of Bellingham, 1 sister, Mrs. Inez Leaton of Coos Bay, Oregon, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Cremation. BLOOM, Esther Maud, age 91, of 2315 Williams Street, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, January 17, (1949). Mrs. Bloom had resided in this community for the past thirty-three years and was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Surviving is one niece, Mrs. May Linton, Northfield, Minn.; three nephews, Arthur H. Pilkey, of Bellingham, Fred Greer, of Deming, and Bert Greer, of Eugene, Ore. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Everett Montgomery, Friday, January 21, at 11 a.m. Final resting place, Tacoma Mausoleum at Tacoma.

BLOOM, Homer Arnold, age 67 of 1220 1/2 State St., Bellingham passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Jan. 18th, (1959) following an extended illness. Born in Lynden May 9, 1891 he had lived in this area his entire lifetime. He leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Beverly Moreland of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Roland Richards of Bellingham; 2 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be conducted in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden Tuesday, Jan. 20th at 10 a.m. with Rev. James Updike officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery.

BLOOM, John J., age 76, Clipper, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, September 6, (1963). Mr. Bloom was a forty year resident of this community, and was a retired owner and operator of heavy construction equipment. Survivors are his widow, Emma, at home; two sons, Robert and Jack, both of Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Grout, Seattle; one step-daughter, Mrs. Pauline Ingersoll, City; eleven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. BLOOM, Lanetta Violet, age 57, of 1319 E. Illinois Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, June 8, (1952). Mrs. Bloom had resided here for the past 12 years and had attended the Baptist Church. She leaves to survive, her husband, John Bloom, at home; two sons, Aden L. Simmons, of Columbus, Ohio, and Fred E. Simmons, of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Rose Perkins, of Neah Bay, Wash.; two step-sons, Robert Bloom, of Seattle, and Jack Bloom, of Grandview, Wash.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Grout, of Puyallup, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; her father, Lee Smith of this city; one brother Fred Smith and one sister Mrs. Arlyle Sornberger both of this city. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. John E. Parrott Wednesday June 11 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

BLOOM, Melvin Sr. - Burlington - Services for Melvin Bloom, 71, a retired butcher, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hulbush Funeral Home here. Mr. Bloom, 405 S. Alder St., died Saturday following a heart attack on a nearby farm. he had lived in Skagit County for the past 20 years. Survivors include the widow, Marie, in Everett; four sons, Melvin Jr., of Camano Island, Vernon and Arden Bloom of Everett, and Army M./Sgt, Robert Bloom, stationed in Maryland; a brother, Arthur of Soap Lake, and three sisters, Miss Martha Bloom of Stanwood, Mrs. Hanna Bergoust of California and Mrs. Annie Nygard of North Dakota. Six grandchildren also survive. Burial in Parkland Cemetery near Tacoma will follow the Tuesday service.

BLOOMGREN, Alfred, age 75 years, 1725 Twenty-second Street this city, passed away Thursday evening, November 8, (1945) after about four months' illness. Mr. Bloomgren had resided in Bellingham for the past forty years and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Sweden and the F. and A. M. Lodge, No. 73, of this city. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Hannah Bloomgren, and three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Richards, of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Harriett Rangeley, of New York City, New York, and Mrs. Jennette Rudstron, of Berkeley, Calif.; also two grandchildren. BLOOMGREN, Hanna M., age 80, of 624 N. Garden, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Nov. 2, (1955) following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 51 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harriet Rangeley of Palm Springs, Calif., Mrs. Jeanette Rudstrom of Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. Mildred Richards of Seattle; two granddaughters, Carol Ann and Edna Rae Bloomgren, both of this city; one brother, Frank A. Johnson; one sister, Mrs. Ida Peterson, both of this city. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Nov. 7, at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. BLOW, Mary Edna, age 94 of Lynden, passed away September 28, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Blow was born July 22, 1909 in Clearbrook, WA to Elfred and Jessie (Clow) Alex. She was an Egg Candler at the Washington Co-op; a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary #9301 and a member of the Haynie Grange; enjoyed knitting sweaters for her family and baking wedding cakes and birthday cakes for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Nelson, of Lynden; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service, officiated by Pastor Thomas McMichael, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2003, at the Lakeside Cemetery on the Pangborn Road. The arrangements and services are under the direction of The Jerns Funeral Chapel & On-Site Crematorium.

BLOW, William Henry, age 78, formerly of Sumas passed away Friday, Oct. 15, (1976). A Whatcom County resident since 1917, Mr. Blow had owned and operated the Van Buren Store until 1953 and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Monumenta Cemetery with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

BLOWERS, Iola Oleva (Gross) Lohman, age 88 of Bellingham, died Wednesday, February 19, 1997. She is survived by a brother Robert Gross of Port Angeles; sister Alice Lorentzen of Port Angeles; step-children Betty Bailey of Birch Bay, Bob Blowers, Barbara Thomas both of Bellingham; step-granddaughter Nicki Bailey of Bellingham; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She married Howard Lohman June 1, 1929 in Everett, who preceded her in death in 1974. On January 4, 1980, she married Alvah Blowers who preceded her in death in 1991; a brother Russell Gross also preceded her in death. Mrs. Blowers played the pipe organ for silent movies in Ketchikan, AK. She was a member of the Orthopedic Hospital Guild and North Bellingham Grange. She enjoyed music, arts and crafts of all kinds. A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held Friday, February 28, 1997, 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ferndale.

BLOXHAM, Ralph E., 1717 4th St., age 75, passed away Saturday, June 29, (1974). A 55 year resident, Mr. Bloxham was a retired millworker and was a veteran of WWII. He is survived by 5 sisters, Mrs. Marion McIvor, Mrs. Bernice Mills, Mrs. Marguerite Shaw, Mrs. June Doncaster all of this city; Mrs. Helen Dimico, St. Maries, Idaho; also several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services were conducted today July 1 by Rev. Grant Whipple at Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

BLUGARAS, George, age 75, who resided at 807 W. Chestnut St., passed away in a local hospital on Thursday, Nov. 16, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Blugaras had resided in Bellingham for the past 54 years and belonged to the Greek Orthodox Church. He leaves to survive, his close friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Gimurtu of Bellingham. Also numerous relatives in Macedonia, Greece. The Rev. Father W. Robert Webb will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. BLUHM, William - Funeral services were held at the Purdy chapel Monday, December 6, (1932) for William Bluhm, age 68 years, with the I.O.O.F. lodge of Blaine, in charge. Mr. Bluhm passed away Saturday, December 3 at the County Hospital following a short illness. All that is known of his relatives is that they reside in Germany.

BLUM, Ernest, age 44, of San Jose, Calif., passed away in that city, Monday,bApril 25, (1977). Mr. Blum had resided in Calif. for the past 22 years and was a former resident of Bellingham. He was in the catering business and also was a representative of the Lutheran Brotherhood Life Insurance Co. He leaves to survive his wife, Marilyn Blum; 2 sons, Bradley and Jeffery; 1 daughter, Julie, all of the family home; his father, Julius Blum, City; 1 brother, Robert L. Blum of this city and 1 sister, Mrs. Carol Anderson of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; 5 nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Pastor Robert E. Johnson of Christ Lutheran Church of Ferndale officiating. Interment Greenacres.

BLUMSEN, Ernest - Funeral services for Ernest Blumsen, 58, Bow, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hulbush Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Hotte officiating. Cremation will follow at Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Blumsen died Saturday (Feb, 1972) as a result of a tractor accident. He moved to Skagit County in 1948 and was employed as a machine operator for Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, Local 1423 of Everett and served in the Canadian army during World War II. Surviving are his widow, Lila; a son, Frank Bingham of Port Angeles; two daughters, Janett Smith of Shelton and Mrs. Betty Backstrom of Bellingham; his mother, Mrs. Lena Blumsen of White Rock, B.C.; a sister, Lily England of New Westminster, B.C., and five grandchildren.

BLUNT, Gerald H., age 60, of 3214 Peabody, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 20, (1962). Mr. Blunt had resided in Bellingham for the past 43 years, was employed by the Bellingham Builders Supply and was a member of the Elks Lodge, BPOE No. 194; Teamsters Union, Local No. 231; Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 31; was a former member of Company E 161st Inf., National Guard. He leaves to survive his wife, Mary M. Blunt of the family home; two sons, Gerald R. and Donald B., both of Seattle; one step-daughter, Mrs. June Shilleto, city; eight grandchildren; one brother, Lynn of Ferndale; one sister, Mrs. Corinne Blevins of Hoquiam; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 25, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Irwin officiating, followed by the ritualistic services of the Elks Lodge, BPOE No. 194. Cremation.

BLY, Talmage "Tom", 618 Myrtle St., passed away Monday, May 6, (1974). Mr. Bly was a 50 year resident of this community and a retired bookkeeper in the county auditor's office. BLYTHE, Arthur J., age 80, of 2720 Cornwall Ave., passed away at home Tuesday, Oct. 20, (1959). Mr. Blythe had resided in Bellingham for the past 66 years; was founder and president of the A. J. Blythe Plumbing & Heating Co.; was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Nile Temple of the Shrine and was a 32nd degree Mason; was a member of the Birchwood Garden Club; was a member of the State Assn. of Master Plumbers. Survivors are his widow, Stella, at home, one son, Steward A., of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Wilson, of Anacortes; five grandchildren, Richard and Robert Wilson, both of Anacortes; Judith, Kathryn and Betty Blythe, all of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Arthur Bezanson, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m., followed by ritualistic services of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 at Bay View Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers will be Frank A. BLYTHE, Stella B., age 84, 2720 Cornwall Avenue, passed away Wednesday, February 26, (1964). She was the widow of Arthur J. Blythe, who preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Blythe moved to Strandell in 1889, where she resided until 1904, at which time she moved to this city. Mrs. Blythe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S., and the Broadway Park Garden Club. Survivors are one son, Steward A. Blythe, city; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Wilson, city; five grandchildren, Richard and Robert Wilson, and Judith, Kathryne and Betty Blythe, all of this city. Services will be conducted by Rev. Arthur Bezanson Friday, February 28 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by burial in Bay View Cemetery.

BLYTHE, Wesley V., age 65 years, who resided in Everson, passed away suddenly at a local hospital, Wednesday, Dec. 28, (1961). Mr. Blythe had resided in Everson for the past two years, having formerly resided in Bellingham. He was a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints and was vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Everson. He leaves to survive, his wife, Mrs. Olive Blythe at the family residence; two sons, Marion Harrison of Utah and Parley Harrison of Los Angeles, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Vesta Biendl and Mrs. June Filbert, both of Bellingham, Mrs. Velda Eaton of Lewiston, Mont., and Mrs. Luvirla Hurley of Raymond, Wash.; one brother, Alvin Blythe in California, and two sisters, Mrs. Mazie Bock of Sedro Woolley and Mrs. Ethel Perry in Idaho; also 21 grandchildren. Bishop Henry Linde will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. within the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.
