FEATHERKILE, Daniel Webster, age 77, of 2529 King Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 9, (1953). Mr. Featherkile had resided here for the past 51 years, was an attorney and was justice of the peace and Police Court Judge at the time of his passing. He was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church; the Knights of Pythias and its Order of D.O.K.K.; the Junior Order of United American Mechanics; Whatcom County and State Bar Associations; the Washington Club, and was past president of the Sons of Norway. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara H. Featherkile, at home; three sons, Melville W., of this city, Ivan R. of Bothell, and Ernest M. Featherkile, of Wenatchee; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Rogers and Mrs. Della Mayhew, both in Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel E. Taylor Wednesday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

FEATHERKILE, Melville W., age 68 of 3412 N. E. 11th St., Renton passed away Thurs., March 20, (1980). Mr. Featherkile was a retired engineer for the Boeing Co. & a resident of B'ham. & Renton for most of his life. He was a member of the Garden St. Methodist church & The Knights of Pythias. Beloved husband of Nancy, beloved father of Marlene Wooten, beloved grandfather of Kathy, Bret & Michelle Wooten, all city. Beloved brother of Ernie Featherkile of Wenatchee. FEATHERS, Charles L., age 43, of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away Saturday, November 8, (1952) following a short illness. Mr. Feathers had been a resident of Whatcom county for the past 37 years and was employed by the Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Co. He was a member of the First Advent Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Fay; four children, Charles Luther Jr., Dennis Craig, Janis Charlene, and Lynette, all at home; nine brothers, six sisters; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. John Feathers, of Tennessee, and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 12 at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Tom Tate, pastor of the First Advent Christian Church, officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

FEATHERS, Mindy Sue, 29, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Bellingham, died, Monday, November 21, 1994, at home. She was born September 21, 1965, in Bellingham, daughter of Steve and Carole Johnson. Mindy was raised in Whatcom County and graduated from Meridian High School in 1983. Mindy attended Trinity Western University and graduated from Shoreline Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She was employed as a dental hygienist both at Dr. Cooley's office, in Mount Vernon, and Dr. Quesnell's office in La Conner. She married Charles "Chuck" B. Feathers November 18, 1989, in Bellingham. Mrs. Feathers was devoted to Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends, and loved serving others. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, and Good Shepherd Community Church of Bellingham and was an active member of The Dental Hygienist's Association of Washington. She is survived by her husband Chuck and daughter Charissa of Mount Vernon, her mother and father, Steve and Carole Johnson of Laurel, 2 sisters, Stephanie Johnson of Bellingham and Kristal Johnson of Laurel, mother-in-law and father-in-law Joyce and James Avinger of Bellingham, grandparents, Irene and Ben Holleman of Lynden, Max Burton of Ferndale and Elrose Schnabel of Bellingham, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. FECHER, Chancie L., 2425 Smith Road, age 69, passed away at home Tuesday, January 17, (1967). A sixty-three year resident of this community, Mr. Fecher was a farmer, and was a veteran of WWI. Survivors are three brothers, Paul, Everson; Bill, Westboro, Mo.; John(?) of Shenandoah, Iowa, and a son-in-law, Elmer E. Chase, at home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ellis Honaker Friday, January 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

FECHER, Helen W., age 64, of 2425 Smith Road, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, May 16, (1962). Mrs. Fecher had resided in this community for the past 50 years; attended the Lutheran Church; was a member of the Rome Grange. Survivors are her husband Chancie, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Chase, city; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Shoop and Mrs. Ella Jones of Bellingham, Mrs. Minnie King, Walla Walla. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Grant Whipple on Monday, May 21, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

FECHER, Lila M., age 82 311 E. Main St. Everson, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 17, (1988). She was born on January 3, 1906, in California & came to the Everson area when she married her husband Paul in March of 1929. Mr. Fecher died in 1970. For 25 yrs Mrs. Fecher managed the Washington State Liquor Store in Everson & had retired in January of this year. She had also been active in the Everson Senior Citizens. She is survived by numerous nieces & nephews; Royce & Velma Sharp of Lynden; Ray & Don Rensink & Hazel Sherwood all of Burlington; Doris Robinson of Marysville & Lois Woodcock of Leavenworth. She was also preceded by a daughter, Irene in 1945. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 18, at 1 p.m. in Nooksack Cemetery with Mr. Tom Umporowicz Sr., officiating. Visitation hours will be at Gillies Funeral Home 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, or from 9 a.m. till noon on Monday.

FECHER, Lola Margaret, age 51 years, of Everson, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, September 5, (1951). Mrs. Fecher had been a resident of the Everson district for the past 36 years, having formerly resided in Lynden. She is survived by her husband, Edwin J.; her mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Davis, of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Helen M. Osbrink, of Lancaster, Calif., and Miss Myrtle Davis of Lynden; also four brothers, Ross E. Davis of Everson, Earl E. Davis of Burlington, Russell V. Davis of Lynden, and Oscar C. Davis of Toledo, Ore. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 7, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies funeral home in Lynden with George Weston, of Everett, officiating, followed by cremation.

FEEMSTER, Robert E., District Manager for Cascade Natural Gas Corp. in Bellingham, died Tuesday, September 20, 1988, in Bellingham, WA. He had been a resident of this city for 18 years & worked for Cascade Natural Gas for 32 years. Mr. Feemster was born on October 17, 1923 in Nashville, Arkansas. He served in Patton's Third Army, 95 Infantry Division during World War II. He married Shirley Witherell November 2, 1957. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bellingham and had served on several boards. He also was an active member with the Chamber of Commerce Board of Government Affairs and a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club for 18 years. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Shirley and mother Ruth Feemster; 6 children; Jeffrey Feemster of Bellingham, Bobby Feemster and wife Ann of Nashville, Arkansas; Mike Feemster and wife Sue of Ashdown, Arkansas; Peggy Holland and husband Thomas of Midland, Texas; James Witherell and wife Elizabeth of Denver, Colorado; John Witherell of Denver, Colorado; 2 sisters, Alta Gallaher and husband Tom of Nashville, Arkansas; Lois McLarty & husband Charles of Nashville, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. FEENEY, Stephanie – There will be no funeral service for Stephanie Feeney of Bellingham. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be in the spring in the Feeney's garden. Ms. Feeney died of complications caused by breast cancer on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000 at her home. She was 52. Born in Billings, Mont., she graduated from Western Washington University and then lived in Nairobi, Kenya; the Aleutian Islands; Eugene, Ore.; and Juneau, Alaska, before returning to Bellingham with her husband, Larry Feeney, in 1987. Ms. Feeney was a founding member of the Whatcom Horticultural Society and was the author of "The Northwest Gardeners' Resource Directory" and "Gardeners on the Go: Seattle," which appeared on bestseller lists for The Seattle Times and The Oregonian. Her own garden, on the shores of Lake Whatcom, was featured in many books and articles, including the Public Broadcasting System's production, "Northwest Garden Style." Ms. Feeney lectured on horticultural topics and was active in most of the region's horticultural organizations, including the Master Gardener Foundation, the Northwest Horticultural Society and the Northwest Perennial Alliance. Survivors includes her husband of the family home and brothers Jeffry Scowcroft of Seattle and Jock Scowcroft of Truckee Calif. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

FEENSTRA, Carrie Amelia, age 75 years, of 1441 Grant Street, passed away in a local hospital Friday evening August 22, (1952). Mrs Feenstra had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 55 years and was a member of Evangelical United Brethren Church. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; three sons, Henry R., Robert F., and Thomas R., all of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy J. Zigler, Anacortes, and Mrs. Gloria J. Armstrong, city; seven grandchildren; one brother, Homer Markhart, Bellingham, and one sister, Mrs. Kittie Ohse, of Mesa, Ariz. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 25, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilmer N. Brown, pastor, officiating. Cremation.

FEENSTRA, Henry R., Jr., age 31 died Monday, Dec. 30, 1991 in Seattle of a long illness. Mr. Feenstra was born April 10, 1960 in Bellingham and lived most of his life in the Bellingham area. He lived in Seattle the last 12 years and was employed at Virginia Mason Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Henry was a loyal and loving person and will be missed by many friends and his family. He was preceded by his father Henry R. Feenstra Sr. who died in 1983 and is survived by his Mother Sally R. Feenstra of Winthrop, WA. Sister Moureen House and husband Larry of Burns Lake, B. C. Brothers Ira Feenstra and wife Linda of Bellingham, Mike Ingalls and wife Berdine of Sultan WA. David Ingalls and wife Linda of Ferndale, WA and numerous Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews in the Whatcom County area. There will be no funeral or memorial service by his and the family's request.

FEENSTRA, Henry Raymond, Sr. - Funeral service for Henry Raymond Feenstra Sr., age 66, of 4442 Guide Meridian Rd., will be held Thursday May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with Mr. John Engholm officiating. Mr. Feenstra passed away Sat. May 14, (1983). FEENSTRA, Peter, age 63 of 2440 Cedar Court, Custer, passed away suddenly Thursday Aug. 18, (1977). Born in Holland, Mr. Feenstra moved to the Lynden area in 1955. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Reformed Church in Lynden. He is survived by his wife, Lucy, 2 sons, Hank of Custer and Dick of Ferndale, 1 daughter, Mrs. John (Jennie) DeKubber of Custer, 3 brothers, Fred of New Jersey, Adrie and Bouke, both in Holland, a sister Mrs. Afke VanDijk of Holland and 3 grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted on Wed. Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Sunrise Baptist Church with Rev. Hartley Christenson officiating. Cremation was at Greenacres Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

FEENSTRA, Robert F., age 69, of Bellingham, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Feenstra was born Apr. 10, 1922 in Bellingham. He attended local schools & later jointed the U. S. Army and fought in WWII and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He later married Dorothy Chapin in Anacortes on Apr. 6, 1948. Mr. Feenstra had been a machine operator at Georgia Pacific Corporation for 37 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of the Purple Heart and Elks Club #194 of Bellingham. His survivors include his wife Dorothy, of the family home; 3 sons, Tom Chapin and wife Annette of Greenville, PA, Neil Chapin and wife Carole of Billings, Montana, Ray Chapin and wife Sharon of Bellingham; a brother Thom Feensra and wife Dorothy of Bellingham; a sister, Gloria Armstrong of Bellingham; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. At the family's request no services will be held.

FEENSTRA, Thomas Russel, 2-day old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Feenstra, of 311 E. Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 7, (1950). Besides his parents, Thomas leaves to survive, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Feenstra and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson, of this city; great-grandfather, Leonard Dixon, also of this city; and the great-grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Anderson, of this city. FEENSTRA, Timmy, 20, of 4754 Aldrich Road, died Tuesday, (Aug. 23, 1988). He was born Dec. 17, 1967, in Bellingham. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Yoshi Haskins, at home; his father, Ira Feenstra, of Bellingham; a brother, Eddie Feenstra, at home; his grandmother, Katie Feenstra of Bellingham and Kayoko Fujimoto of Shimizu City, Japan; and many other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard C. Ericksen of Central Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park.

FEGLEY, Amy Victoria Forbes, age 95, of 2600 Old Fairhaven Parkway, passed away Sun. July 22, 1990. Born 1894 in Newago County, Michigan. Lived in Cadillac, Michigan until she was 17 years old; came to Seattle with her mother in 1912 after her father Ernest Forbes died. Graduated from Lincoln High School in 1913; enrolled in the Home Economics Dept. of the Univ. of Washington after 2 years at the College of Puget Sound; taught Home Economics in Eastern WA. She married Walter Rush Fegley in 1918; came to Bellingham to live in 1922; played piano accompaniments for all the outstanding vocalists of that time; taught piano, organ and violin; volunteered for 35 years in all the charitable drives including being Colonel on the Community Fund Drive; past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was also District president; past president of the Bellingham High School PTA; helped Jessie Brinson organize 17 auxiliaries to help St. Lukes Hospital, including the gift shop. The auxiliaries raised enough money to buy the second elevator or the hospital - later they bought remote control televisions for each room, then surgical instruments and later space for parking cars. She was active in A.A.U.W. life member organizing a Reading Club, a recent graduate group, and she and Mrs. Bernice VanAver started the Book Sale by asking members to bring books to sell to each other at the meetings. From that beginning the idea was enlarged by Ruby Dillon and each year it has become a big money raising event for scholarships and Fellowships. She was Past President & life member of The Aftermath Club; Past President of the Music Club and also the Kiwanis Wives; served on the Y.W.C.A. Board; organized the Bayside Garden Club; helped organize the Queen Esthers of Garden Street United Methodist Church when Rev. J. C. Harrison was pastor; also taught the High School girls Sunday School class and organized a Christmas Pagent; 2nd chairman of the Cancer Drive. One auxiliary of St. Lukes Hospital is named for her and it is still active. She was president of the League of Women Voters the third year it was organized by Mrs. Axtell and Mrs. Durwester. She belonged to Bellingham Yacht Club; Bellingham Golf & Country Club; and Retired Teachers Assoc.
Survived by 2 daughters, Virginia-Ann and husband Paul F. Mercy of Bellingham, Geraldine and husband Alfred Dunn of Pasadena, CA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Francis and Ethel Fegley of Bellingham; numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Walter Rush Fegley in 1972. Funeral service Thursday, July 26, 3:00 p.m. Jones Funeral Home. Interment Bayview Cemetery.

FEGLEY, Elizabeth Ann, age 80, of 1414 Humboldt Street, passed away at a local hospital, Sunday, November 24, (1946). Mrs. Fegley had been a resident of this community for the past forty-five years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mary Hamilton Circle, Women's Music Club and Sehome Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Surviving relatives are two sons, Walter R. and Francis B., of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Lena F. Montgomery, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Mabel E. Tatman, of Vancouver, B.C.; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. C. Weir, of Orlando, Florida, and one brother, Galen F. Biery, of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Dr. R. T. McFarlane Tuesday, November 26, at 10:30 a.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

FEGLEY, Ethel G. - A celebration of life for Ethel G. Fegley of Bellingham will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at St. James Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mary Robinson-Mohr officiating. Mrs. Fegley died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Bellingham. She was 83. Born May 15, 1916, to Henry and Mary (Rahm) Green in Bellingham, she was a Bellingham High School graduate, attended Western Washington University, and was a lifelong Bellingham resident. Mrs. Fegley taught piano to Whatcom County residents for most of her life. She was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, where she played the organ for many years. Her husband, Francis Biery Fegley, died previously. Survivors include daughters Marybeth Smith-Clumpner of Anacortes and Julianne Fegley-Scordelis of Concord, Calif. sister Lillian Keim of Bellingham three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

FEGLEY, Walter R., age 79, 901 N. Forest St., died June 29, (1972). A 72-year resident of this city, he was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church and Albert J. Hamilton Post 7 American Legion for more than 50 years. He attended Sehome Grade School and graduated from Whatcom High and Bellingham Normal Schools. He was a teacher in both Hawaii and Eastern Washington and worked as a cashier in a Winthrow bank in 1923. He returned to Bellingham and was an insurance broker and adjuster for 45 years. Survivors are his wife, Amy; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Mercy, Yakima, Mrs. Geraldine Dunn, Pasadena, California; seven grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Mabel Tatman, Richmond, B. C.; and his brother Francis Fegley of Bellingham. Services were conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Guderian July 1 at the Jones Funeral Home. Cremation.

FEIERABEND, Angeline, age 40, of 1314 D Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, June 25, (1949) following a lingering illness. She had been a resident of Bellingham for about 15 years. Surviving are her husband, Joseph R.; three brothers, F. S. Rhoades of this city, Donald Rhoades of the U. S. Navy, and Buckley L. Moore of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Felix Rodgers, whose husband is with the U.S. army; and a stepfather, William J. Rhoades, of this city. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. Harlan Stone, pastor of the Eureka Methodist church, officiating. FEIERABEND, Joseph "Little Joe" R., age 84, 211 1/2 E. Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, December 28, (1963). Mr. Feirabend (sic) had resided in this community for many years, and was a member of the United Cement, Lime & Gypsum Workers International Union, Local No. 41, a member of William Matthews Post No. 1585, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a veteran of World War I. He is survived by a niece in Switzerland. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where the services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 2 at 10:30 a.m., by Rev. W. Robert Webb and officers of VFW, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

FEIGHNER, Louis S., 80, of 1664 Lake Samish Road, Alger, died on Wednesday (Oct. 16, 1991) at his home. He was born to George and Christina Feighner on Feb. 18, 1911 in Canby, Ore. Mr. Feighner met his wife Winifred, in Bellingham and they were married on June 3, 1943 in Seattle. He worked for Bellingham Plywood Co. in the 1940s, but spent most of his life working with his own landscaping company. Mr. Feighner was an avid sports fan and enjoyed his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, of the family home; a son Donald Peterson, of Everson; a daughter, Shirley Nyland, of Buckley; four sisters, Mona Douglas of Bellingham, Rachel McLeod of Bellingham, Katherine Boehringer of Sumas and Martha McPherson of Kent; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Greenacres Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Al Currier officiating.

FEIGHNER, Wesley M. - Funeral services for Wesley M., age 67 of Alger, will be Thurs. Oct. 15, 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Al Currier officiating. Mr. Feighner passed away Sun. Oct. 11, 1981. FEKETY, Joseph, age 81, passed away April 14, (1976). He was a retired shingle weaver and had spent his life in Whatcom County. FEKETY, Mary, age 86 years, of Rt. 1, Maple Falls passed away at her home Friday, Nov. 12, (1954) following a lingering illness. She had resided in that community the past 50 years and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Weatherby, Rt. 1, Sumas, and one son, Joseph, of Maple Falls; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FEKETY, Nicholas, age 93 years of Maple Falls Rt. 1 passed away at a local hospital Sunday, June 20, (1954) following a lingering illness. He had resided in the Maple Falls district for the past 50 years. He is survived by his wife Mary, one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Weatherby, Sumas, Rt. 1; one son, Joseph of Maple Falls, five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. FEKKES, Frank, 21, of Kent died near Sumner Oct. 9, (1981) in a two-car accident. He was born in Bellflower, Calif. on Oct. 3, 1960 and came with his family to Kent in 1969. He graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1978 where he was active in soccer, baseball and wrestling. At the time of his death he was employed by his brother at Fekkes Dairy Farm in Orting. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fekkes of Everson, three brothers, Bill Fekkes of Orting and Sid and John Fekkes of the Fred Fekkes home; one sister, Mrs. Jerry (Gertie) Jurgens of Everson and a grandfather, Bill Fekkes of Holland. Also surviving is his fiance, Miss Debbie Matteson of Kent. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Trinity Reformed Church in Kent under the direction of Price-Helton Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, with Rev. Jack Hilbrands officiating.

FEKKES, Fred - Visitation for Mr. Fred Fekkes of Everson will be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Graveside committal services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church in Nooksack with Rev. Charles Kleinhesselink officiating. Mr. Fekkes died at St. Joseph Hospital on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the age of 80 after an extended illness. The son of Bouke and Hotske (Plantinga) Fekkes, Fred was born in Hieslum, The Netherlands on July 12, 1922. He grew up in Holland and was married there to Shirley Folkertsma on May 7, 1948. They moved with their family to Cypress, California in 1953 and then to Kent, Washington in 1969 and to the Everson area in 1980 where he operated a dairy farm on the Mission Road. He was a member of the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church and enjoyed playing pool with his friends and watching the Mariners. He was preceded in death by an infant son, a son Frank Fekkes, his parents and a sister. He is survived at home by his wife Shirley; daughter Gertie Juergens and husband Jerry of Everson; three sons, Bill Fekkes and wife Bobbie of Ephrata, WA, Sid Fekkes, John Fekkes and wife Diane all of Everson; eight grandchildren; sister Marie Ouderkerken of Chino, CA and three sisters and one brother in Holland. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

FELL, Vera J., known as Sue, formerly of Ferndale and Bellingham died Sunday, Aug. 19, (1984). She was in a hospital in Norco, California. She was 75 years of age and was the daughter of the pioneer family of Walter ad Julia (Wynn) Smith of Ferndale. Survived by sons: David L. of Rochester, Washington, James W. of Norco, California; 2 brothers, Frank of Salem, Oregon and Robert of Centralia, Wash.; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth, Michael, Susan & Regan; 3 great-grandchildren, Marcia, Michelle and Samuel. FELLER, Daniel, age 63, of 1942 Hampton Rd., Everson, passed away suddenly on Fri., Sept. 16, (1977). Born in Granum, Alberta, Mr. Feller was a retired farmer and moved to the Lynden area from Idaho in 1928. He was employed by the Lynden Dairy & Farm Supply and prior to that had been employed by Surge Dairy Supply. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and also the Puget Sound Antique Tractor Assoc. On Dec. 1, 1937 he was married to Helen Meenderinck in Lynden. Besides his wife, Helen, he is survived by 4 sons, Bill in Auburn, Kenneth in Everson, Edwin of Bellingham and Perry also of Everson; 3 daughters, Delores Feller in Minneapolis, Minn., Marlys, Pullman and Gladys at home; he is also survived by 2 brothers, Louis of Lynden and William DeHaas, Grangeville, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Jenny Vrieling in Ephrata; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. FELLOWS, Ethel May - Memorial services for former newspaper proofreader Ethel May Fellows, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Unity Fellowship Church. The Rev. Peter Rhea will officiate. The body will be cremated and ashes placed in Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Fellows, of 2625 Moore St., died Sunday (Dec. 20, 1987) in a local hospital. She was born May 12, 1898, in Round Hill, Va. She had lived in San Diego from 1925 until last September, when she moved to Bellingham. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a member and past post commander of the Early bird Post No. 451 American Legion in San Diego, and had worked for 12 years at the San Diego Union Newspaper. She and her husband Paul, who preceded her in death in 1966, were proofreaders for the paper. Mrs. Fellows retired in 1966. Mrs. Fellows enjoyed knitting and had made sweaters for each of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia I. Fellows of Bellingham; a son, Harry C. Fellows of Lancaster, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

FELMLEY, Wendall E., age 92, of 1509 Victor St., and formerly of 4457 Dewey Rd., passed away at a local nursing home on Feb. 28, 1991. Wendall was born March 20, 1898 in Whatcom Co., and was a resident of Whatcom County all of his life. He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church, retired mill worker from the Larson Mill and later Robinson Mill. During the 1930's, he drove a school bus for Harmony School District. His first love was farming, which he kept as a hobby all of his life. He was a Veteran of WWI. Wendall was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen. They had 64 years of happily married life. He is survived by one son Robert W. Felmley of Bellingham; 2 daughters, Marion Willkie of Bellingham & Joan Ryan of Spokane; 9 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Private family burial will precede a memorial service to be held at the Bellingham Covenant Church at 1 p.m. Mon. March 4, 1991. Arrangements by the Westford Funeral Home.

FENENGA, Minnie G. of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, in Bellingham. She was 97, born in Seattle on November 18, 1907, to George and Minnie J. Gibb. The family moved to Aberdeen in 1912. Minnie graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1925 and from the University of Washington in 1929. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, past president of Grays Harbor Branch of American Association of University Women, past president of Grays Harbor Branch of Altrusa International, and a co-recipient of the Sears Foundation Award in advancing vocational education. During WWII, she was "Acting Woman Supervisor" for Boeing sub-plants in Aberdeen-Hoquiam. For 43 years, Minnie taught in Washington public schools. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Assoc., a Knife and Fork Club board member; a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Aberdeen Chapter #45; and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving a Deacon and Elder. After her retirement in 1973, Minnie volunteered in several charitable groups. Her hobbies were cooking, flower gardening and crafts. She also enjoyed hostessing at the Willows. She was preceded in death by her husband Julian Fenenga in 1978 and her sister Georgina Thompson. She is survived by cousin Violet Goheen of Aberdeen, nephew Gifford and wife Yvonne Thompson of Bellingham, and four great-nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2004 at Whiteside Family Mortuary, 109 E. Second St., Aberdeen. Arrangements are by Whiteside Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.

FENNEY, Emily C., age 82 years, of Lynden, passed away at her home Wednesday, October 19, (1955) following a lingering illness. She had resided in Lynden for the past 50 years and was a member of the Altar Society of Lynden. She is survived by one niece and one nephew in Minnesota. Requiem High Mass will be offered for the repose of the soul by Father M. P. Murray in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lynden, Friday, Oct. 21, at 10:30 a.m. Rosary will be said Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Interment will be in Waseca, Minnesota.

FENNO, Richard L., age 71, of 3214 Cherrywood passed away Weds. May 9, 1979. Mr. Fenno was a retired member off the B'ham. FENNO, William Henry, age 75, of 2715 Peabody St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday,May 20, (1956). Mr. Fenno resided in Skagit County 22 years before moving to this community 8 years ago, was a member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., and attended the Advent Christian Church. Surviving relatives include the widow, Emily at the family home; a son, Richard of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Hall of Doe Bay, Washington, and Mrs. Bernice Morrison of Blanchard, Wash.; four grandsons; three great grandchildren; two brothers, E. T. Fenno of Spokane and Horace Fenno of Anacortes, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Joe Tom Tate Tuesday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. Whatcom Lodge No. 151 will conduct graveside services at Greenacres Memorial Park.

FENSKE, Arthur R., age 80, of Burlington, died Mon., Jan. 15, 1979 in a Sedro Woolley hospital. He was born August 5, 1898 in Shawano, Wisconsin. His marriage to Gladys Rowley took place Sept. 7, 1918 in B'ham. Mr. Fenske moved to Burlington in 1935. He was a retired mechanic and former employee of Seattle City Light. He was a member of Burlington Lodge No. 254, Free and Accepted Masons; life member of Independent Order of Oddfellows and a retired member of the Burlington Fire Dept. Surviving are his wife Gladys at home; 2 daughters, Alta Grondahl, Burlington and Beulah Wilson, Santa Barbara, Calif.; 1 son Kenneth Fenske, Burlington; 4 sisters, Ina Thomason Waldron, The Dalles, Ore., Ethel Druce, Riddle, Ore., Mary Fenske and Ellen Richter both Hood River, Ore.; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. At his request no services will be held. Cremation was held wit inurnment to be in the Kendall Cemetery, Whatcom County. Arrangements are by Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.

FENT, Terry, age 14 years, beloved son of Mr. Willard Fent of Everett, Wash., passed away Sunday, July 21, (1946) from drowning in Lake Whatcom. Terry had only lived in Bellingham a few months, making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, of Route 4, and was a pupil of the Mount Baker Junior High School. Besides the father he is survived by a brother, Willard Jr., with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fent, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; also numerous other relatives. The remains are at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where services will be conducted Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. Interment, Bay View Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Rollin Roberts, Kern McDonald, David Williams, Dean Moors, Ronald Bowhay and Dick Pearson.

FENTON, Alzada R., age 75 years, passed away at a Bellingham hospital, Wednesday, March 6, (1946). Mrs. Fenton had been a resident of the Blaine district for the past 55 years and is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ed Kale, Mrs. Roy Lunger, both of Everson, Mrs. J. Cline, of Blaine, Mrs. George Whitman, of Custer, Mrs. Creed Noah, of Centralia; four sons, George Fenton, of Tacoma, Elbert Fenton, of Hoquiam, Alton and Melvin Fenton, of Blaine; twenty-three grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Pratt and Charles Summerville, both in Ontario. FENTON, Melvin James "Melly" age 83 of 1978 Somerset St., Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 1984. Mr. Fenton was born in Blaine, WA and had lived his entire lifetime in Whatcom County. FENTON, Roy C., age 69, of 1019 15th St., passed away in a local hospital Friday April 6, (1962). A retired machinist, Mr. Fenton was a 60 year resident of Bellingham; was a member of the Fairhaven Lodge 73 F&AM; was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Survivors are two sons, Donald Fenton and Duncan Fenton; one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Lula Marshall all of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Obed L. G. Vold, Wednesday April 11th at 11 a.m. followed by cremation.

FENTON, William H. - Visitation for William H. Fenton of Bellingham will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Westford Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Fenton died Sunday, March 12, 2000 at his home. He was 70. Born Sept 25, 1929 to John William and Dorothy (Langhrer) Fenton in Jersey City, NJ, he attended Emerson High School there. On Sept 11, 1948, he married Joan Anna Bussanich at St. Michael's Monastery in Union City, NJ. Mr. Fenton served as a police officer from 1956 to 1962 and received bravery decorations. He then worked as a service manager for UPS from 1963 to 1977. He also was a sergeant for the New Jersey National Guard. Mr. Fenton lived in Pompano Beach, Fla. from 1970 to 1986 before moving to Bellingham. While in Bellingham, he served as facilities maintenance coordinator for the city of Bellingham from 1988 to 1996. Mr. Fenton was a 26-year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, serving as exalted ruler for two terms in Margate, Fla. He also was a member of the Police Benevolent Association in Union City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening and crossword and picture puzzles. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons James H. Fenton of Riverside, Calif; and John Fenton of Vernon Hills, Ill; daughter Joan Carlin of Vancouver, B.C.; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and many other relatives in New Jersey, Florida and California.

FERCH, Raymond A., age 72, passed away Sept. 28, (1977) in Seattle. Mr. Ferch was from a pioneer family who settled in North Bellingham in 1879, son of the late William and Minnie Embury Ferch. He is survived by his wife, the former May Hansen of North Bellingham; he has 1 daughter, Mrs. Shirley Hansen; 2 granddaughters; 2 brothers, C. W. Durgin of Bellingham and Francis Ferch of Seattle; 1 sister, Mrs. Zella Spurkland of Seattle; 1 sister-in-law Wella Hansen, Bellingham. Burial will be from Washington Memorial at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 16445 Pacific Hwy. So., Seattle.

FERRIBY, Steven Douglas born October 16, 1951, died January 16, 2000 at home in Custer, Washington. Medic, mechanic, motorcyclist, skier, diver, healer of men and machines, he was a man who made his own path in life. A proud individualist, at heart and in deed, he never believed you cannot fight city hall. He spoke up for his beliefs and stood tall in his place. He was loved by many who will miss him, friends and family alike. Among his family who will always hold him close to their hearts are: his wife Cathy, mother Bettie, siblings Carla, David and Lauren, brother and sisters-in-law Casey, Penny, and Ruthanne, stepchildren Tony, Florence and Clayton and his nieces and nephews Kevin, Amanda, Cameron, Margaret, Alexis & Meredith Kathryn. A memorial party in celebration of his life will take place Saturday, January 22, 2000 at 4 p.m. at the Secret Garden bed and breakfast, Bellingham.

FURGURSON, Murray William, age 72 passed away at the family home, 2537 Toledo St., Friday, Aug. 19, (1955). Mr. Furgurson had resided in this community for the past 23 years, was a retired barber, and was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F.&A.M., Bellingham Bay Chapter No. 12, Royal Arch Masons, and a member of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S. Surviving relatives are his widow, Alta, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Holt of Big Lake, Wash., and Mrs. Hazel O'Hara of Bellingham; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services were conducted by the Rev. Harold E. Penhalurick and officers of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F. & A.M. Monday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

FERGUSON, Anne P. of Edmonds, died April 10, 1984 in Seattle. She was born July 17, 1904 in Bellingham, where she had resided for 77 years. Anne was preceded in death by her husband John Ferguson & daughter Kathleen Hughes & brother Nicholas Cambley, who was born in Ireland & sisters Genevieve Burnside & Josephine Chatterton who were both born in Bellingham. She is survived by daughter Gladys Beal of Edmunds, 5 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren. Rosary vigil & mass of Christian burial were held today April 13th at Assumption Catholic Church, followed by burial at Bayview Cemetery under the direction of Beck's Funeral Home of Edmonds.

FERGUSON, Charlie L., age 58 years, of 1222 State Street, passed away at a local hospital Monday, May 26th, (1952) following a short illness. Mr. Ferguson had been a lifetime resident of this community and was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by one brother, Earl and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lange and Mrs. Pearl Smith, all of Bellingham. FERGUSON, Ella J., age 86, formerly of 1345 Iron St, passed away Sat. Jan. 14, (1978). A resident of this community for the past 80 years, Mrs. Ferguson was a member of Central Lutheran Church. FERGUSON, Floyd Donald, age 60, of 337 So. Forest Street, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, September 24, (1962). Mr. Ferguson had resided in Bellingham the past year, prior to which time he was a fifty-year resident of Kellogg, Idaho, where he was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge. Survivors are his widow, Helen Ann, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Sherman B. Kirkham of Bellevue; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Flossie Akers and Mrs. Iren DeLane, both in Idaho. The remains were flown to Kellogg, Idaho, today, September 25th by the Jones Funeral Home.

FERGUSON, Grace, a former resident of 27 Ontario Street, Bellingham, passed away Feb. 22, (1954) in Seattle. She was born in Chester County, Penn., on Feb. 6, 1866, and came to Bellingham in 1899 from Minnesota. For the past two years she had resided in Seattle. She was a former member of the Bellingham Garden St. Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary A. Davenport of Seattle and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Forkner Funeral Home Chapel of Seattle at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, with concluding services and interment at 3 p.m. in the Bay View Cemetery in Bellingham.

FERGUSON, Holmes H., age 75 years, passed away at his home, 2315 Lynn Street, Monday, December 23, (1946). Mr. Ferguson had resided here the past sixty six years and was formerly in the employ of the Brooks Lumber Co. Deceased was a member of the Bible Students Association and is survived by the widow Lily Belle at home; two daughters, Virginia Davidson and Vera Dunsford at Seattle; one brother, George Ferguson, Hayward, Calif., and two grandsons, Keith Davidson and Billy Dunsford at Seattle. FERGUSON, Hugh, age 91, of 2701 Ontario Street, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, May 25, (1950). Mr. Ferguson had settled in this community in the 1880's and for many years was a timber cruiser for Larrabee and then moved to Canada, where he farmed for 23 years prior to returning to this community 18 years ago following his retirement. Deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and leaves to survive his widow, Cora Grace at home, and several nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Harold E. Penhalurick, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Saturday, May 27, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

FERGUSON, Ian M. – 4/9/16 – 6/26/07 – On the afternoon of June 26, at his home and in the company of family, Ian passed on peacefully at age 91. He was a San Francisco native. He attended Galileo High School and Marin Junior College, prior to earning a B.S. in Entomology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1938. Ian represented Ford Motor Company as a lecturer during the 1939 World's Fair. That is where he met and fell in love with his wife, Jenesta. On March 1, they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. His work with Ford led him toward a career in personnel management that spanned nearly 40 years. During that time, he worked for the Paraffin Co, Western Pacific Railroad, Soule Stee, and retired as Vice President of Hibernia Bank in 1981. Ian was a veteran of WWII where his active duty was with the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He served in the Pacific with COMCARDIV Eleven as an aide and flag secretary to Admiral Radford and later as aide and flag lieutenant to Admiral Ginder. He remained in the USNR until 1959. Ian was a member of the Railroad Personnel Managers Association, San Francisco Businessmen's Garden Club, Sons in Retirement, and served on the San Mateo County Grand Jury. Ian and Jenesta raised their family in Redwood City, CA. In 2003, they left behind many of their friends to relocate in Bellingham, WA. His hobbies included gardening, home projects, and all outdoor activities. He was a talented problem-solver and enjoyed assisting family and friends whenever possible. His gregarious personality, his courage, wit, positive attitude, and love of life, will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jenesta; two sons Craig and wife Missy; Scott and wife Della; his grandson Ian and wife Shannon; his great-granddaughter Mackenzie; and many loving members of his extended family. At his request, no memorial service will be held.

FERGUSON, Irene M. of Bellingham died Friday, Aug. 6, 1993. She was 85. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview Cemetery with the Rev. Al Currier of First Advent Christian Church officiating. Born May 3, 1908, in Isleworth, England, to George and Ada Jones, she lived in Calgary, Alberta, prior to moving to Bellingham on March 17, 1936. She became a U. S. citizen in 1937, and worked for Bellingham Furniture Factory from 1941 to 1943. Mrs. Ferguson worked as a furrier for Skagit Fur Company for 25 years, and also worked for St. Luke's Hospital. Later she worked for Needham's Nursing Home, retiring in 1980. She was preceded in death by husband William Ferguson on June 2, 1968, and also by brothers Frederick and Charles Jones. Survivors include son Cecil A. Ferguson of Las Vegas; a daughter Marie E. Pederson of Bellingham; a sister Elsie Hovde of Bellingham; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

FERGUSON, Jack H., age 75, who resided at 235 45th(sic) St., passed away at the family home Thursday, April 7, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Ferguson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a retired millwright. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Sawmill Workers Union Local No. 2667, a charter member of the Moose Lodge. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Matilda Ferguson at the family home; two sons, John Henry Ferguson of San Diego and Francis L. Bates of Bellingham; six daughters, Mrs. Louise Skuija of San Diego, Mrs. Della Anderson, Seattle, Mrs. Kathleen Guyer, Bellingham, Mrs. June Porter, Canada, Mrs. Patricia Kink and Mrs. Charlotte Doolittle, both of Bellingham; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The Rev. Carl H. Johnson of Seattle will conduct funeral services on Monday, April 11 at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home. Interment at Bay View Cemetery.

FERGUSON, James, age 84, Mt. Vernon resident, died June 30, 1985 in Mt. Vernon. He was born in Ireland Aug. 5, 1900. In 1920 he came to this country settling in Los Angeles. He had been active there in civic affairs, the Masonic Lodge and the operation of the Rose Parade. He married Ena Hamilton in Yuma, Arizona Nov. 30, 1940. The couple moved to Ferndale in 1943 and later moved to Mt. Vernon where he had resided since. They were active in faming with purebred Guernsey cattle and he had also been active as a salesman in real estate. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles, member of the American Guernsey Cattle Club and the Farm Bureau. Survivors are his wife, Ena of Mt. Vernon; nieces & nephews in Toronto and B.C. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral services. Cremation was conducted under the direction of the Kerns Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

FERGUSON, John R., age 79 of 2242 Dean St., passed away Wed., March 10, (1976). Mr. Ferguson had been a resident of Bellingham for many years and was retired from Brooks Lumber Co. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption and Knights of Columbus and a veteran of WWI. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Anne P. Ferguson of the family home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Hughes of Ferndale and Mrs. Gladys Beal of Edmonds; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Eleanor DeWitt of Idaho and Mrs. Helen Gurkey of Minnesota. FERGUSON, Mabel M., age 75 of 409 York St., passed away in a local Convalescent Center, Sunday Aug. 8th, (1976). She had been a life time resident of Bellingham & Whatcom County and leaves to survive her husband, Earl Ferguson and one son Bert Ferguson both of Bellingham. One daughter Betty Bissett of Alaska. FERGUSON, Margaret, age 73 years, passed away Thursday, March 29, (1945), at the home of her sister, Mrs. Kate Readleston, of Point Roberts. Mrs. Ferguson was visiting here from her home at Harris Saskatchewan. She leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Grant, of Harris, Saskatchewan; a sister, Mrs. Jane Birnie, of Scotland; a brother, William Taylor, of Scotland, and two grandchildren. FERGUSON, Mary Powell, age 61 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert F. Kaiser, 509 Fieldston Road, Sunday, July 10 (1949) following a five weeks' visit at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Robert F. Kaiser. Deceased was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, Pa., where she made her home at 2725 No. 5th St. Surviving relatives are the husband, Dr. William N. Ferguson Jr. of Philadelphia, at present at the Kaiser home; two daughters, Mrs. Robert F. Kaiser of this city and Mrs. Julian Story, Morristown, N.J., one sister, Miss Harriet Powell, Cape May Courthouse, N.J., and eight grandchildren. FERGUSON, Shirley N., age 67, a lifetime resident of Bellingham, died Tuesday, September 9, 1997 at her home in Bellingham. Mrs. Ferguson was born on August 22, 1930 in Bellingham to parents Byron and Rosemary (Swabody) Baird. She attended local schools and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1948. On December 28, 1951, she and Clayton L. Ferguson were married in Bellingham. Shirley loved sport fishing, owl related art and traveling, especially to Hawaii. Relatives include her husband Clayton L. Ferguson of Bellingham; daughter Cheri D. Benson of Bellingham; a son Bradley L. Ferguson of Bellingham; and 3 grandchildren, Erin Marie Ferguson, Erica Ann Ferguson and Tammy Marie Singer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Dean Baird. FERLAND, Walter George, 68, died Friday (Apr. 14, 1989) in Clinton, N.C., while at a family reunion. Mr. Ferland, of 2927 St. Paul St., was born in Norwood, Mass., April 7, 1921. FERNGREN, Clara Marie - Funeral services will be held here (Sedro Woolley) Wednesday for Mrs. Clara Marie Ferngren, wife of William Ferngren, furniture store owner of this (Sedro Woolley) city, who died Sunday (July 31, 1960) in Memorial Hospital. FERNGREN, Wilma E., age 76, of 1128 Undine St., died in a Seattle hospital Sat. (Oct. 3, 1987) following a short illness. She was born in Bellingham on Aug. 19, 1911, the daughter of Theodore & Amanda Edberg. She graduated from high school in Duluth, MN. An older brother, Wendell Edberg died in 1924. She married Al B. Ferngren on Oct. 8, 1938. Mr. Ferngren passed away in 1974. In 1976 she retired after 16 years as a receptionist for the Bellingham School District. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and of Bible Study Fellowship. FERRIE, Betty L., passed away April 9, (1990) in White Rock, B.C. She is survived by her loving children, Janice (Ole) Hedahl of Maple Valley, David of Phoenix, Cindy & her friend John of Redmond, Jim (Shannon) of Phoenix, Denise (Bill) Zuidmeer of Lynnwood. She was born March 12, 1932 in Victoria, immigrated to Bellingham in 1967 where she lived until 1987 before moving to White Rock. Betty served on the Board of Directors for St. Luke's Hospital, the YWCA and the Whatcom County Crisis Center. She was a Pink Lady at St. Luke's for 20 years, and a volunteer at the Crisis Clinic for 10 years. She also worked as a Welcome Wagon Lady for many years and was promoted to Area Manager. Memorial service to be held at St. James Pres. Church, Bellingham, Fri., April 20 at 1 p.m.

FERRIE, Robert – A memorial for Robert Ferrie of Bellingham will be held at a later date. Mr. Ferrie died of complications following heart surgery on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at his home. He was 75. Born Nov. 3, 1925 to Robert C. and Isabel Ferrie in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he had been a Whatcom County resident since 1964. Mr. Ferrie served in the Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945. Following his military service, he earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. Mr. Ferrie worked as an engineer from 1952 to 1961 in Kitimat, B.C., and Olin Mathesen in New Haven, Conn., from 1962 to 1965. From 1966 to 1981, he worked for what is now Alcoa Intalco Works, serving as president from 1969-1981. From 1981 to 1989, he worked for Alumax Corp., which owned Intalco. From 1989 to the present, he worked as a private consultant. In 1989, he married Lee Brown on Lummi Island. Mr. Ferrie was a member of Rotary, Junior Achievement and Bellingham Yacht Club. He enjoyed sailing and traveling and had visited every continent in the world. His former wife, Betty (Anderson) Ferrie, died in 1990. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Denise Zuidmeer of Everson, Janice Hedahl of Bellevue and Cindy Rasmussen of Redmond; sons David Ferrie of Mesa, Ariz., and James Ferrie of Long Island, NY; sisters Edna Hutton of Vancouver, B.C., and Maude Shiner of Nanaimo, B.C.; 10 grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.

FERRILL, John G. - Funeral services for John G. Ferrill, 80, of 2875 Fox Rd., Ferndale, were held Nov. 11 in Moles Funeral Home. He died Nov. 8, (1971). Mr. Ferrill has lived in the Ferndale area the past 24 years. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Barbara Carpenter. The Rev. Marvin Jordan officiated at the service. Burial was in the Enterprise Cemetery.

FERRIS, Gerald Durward, died Monday, March 15, 1993, in Eugene, Ore. He was 82. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home with the Rev Leonard Erickson officiating. He was born April 3, 1910, in Scapoose, Ore., to Lilly and Percy Ferris. A former Bellingham resident, Mr. Ferris worked as an auto mechanic and was a member of Central Lutheran Church. Mr. Ferris' first wife, Esther, died in 1974. He married Margaret Thompson in 1974; they lived in Mount Vernon until she died in 1985. He married Beth Steward in 1985. Mr. Ferris taught auto mechanics at Skagit Valley College until he retired in 1974. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Alan Lane of Campo, Calif., James Leonard of Federal Way and Douglas Lee of Forks; sisters Elaine Largin, Irene Sinclair and Gertrude Magner, all of Bellingham, and Eleanor Powers of Anacortes; brother Ted Ferris of Bellingham; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. FERRIS, Lillie, age 73, 1416 16th Street, passed away Wednesday, March 9, (1966). Mrs. Ferris was born in Michigan, and had resided in this city the past forty-three years. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Magne, city; Mrs. Irene Banks, city; Mrs. Eleanor Powers, Anacortes; Mrs. Elaine Murray, Lester, Wn.; two sons Gerald D. and Theodore R., both of this city; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. FERRIS, Margaret Solay, a longtime Bellingham resident, died April 24, (1985) in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Ferris was born July 21, 1912, in Blaine and was raised in Bellingham where she graduated from the old Fairhaven High School. She was employed for more than 10 years at Skagit Valley College, where she was an office manager and secretary to the president. She enjoyed literature and music and was active in the foster grandparents program. In later years, Mr. Ferris and her husband, Gerald, traveled extensively. In 1937, she married Silas V. Thompson who died in 1967. Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of Mount Vernon; a son, Gerald Thompson, of Marysville; a daughter, Lois Thompson, of Marysville; two brothers including Ausberg Einarson of Bellingham; four sisters, including Sigrid Laxdall of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

FERRIS, Theadore - A service for Theadore "Ted" Ferris of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Westford Funeral Home. Mr. Ferris died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 80. Born July 3, 1917, to Percival and Lilly Fitzpatrick Ferris in Everett, he lived in Coos Bay, Ore., and Kaynes Lake before moving to Bellingham in 1926. He married Jule Johnson Apirl 1, 1940, in Seattle. Mr. Ferris worked as a logger until 1959 and then for Columbia Cement. He retired in 1982. A member of the American Legion and B.P.O.E. of Bellingham, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and children. Mr. Ferris was preceded in death by brother Gerald Ferris in 1994. Survivors include his wife of Bellingham; son Michael Ferris of Auburn; daughter Kay Morse of Bellingham; sisters Gertrude Magner and Irene Sinclair, both of Bellingham, Eleanor Powers of Anacortes and Elaine Largin of Copalis Beach; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

FERRY, Anna L., age 72, of 2508 Moore, passed away at home Monday, March 21, (1960). Mrs. Ferry had been a resident of Maple Falls for 26 years before moving to Bellingham 16 years ago and had attended St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include the husband, John H. at the family home; a son, Orville C. at Maple Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Aileen Bartel of Kendall; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Breitkreitz of Marysville and Charles Breitkreitz of Seattle, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Gilhousin of Bellingham. FERRY, Benedict William "Ben", a 25 year resident of Lacey, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004 surrounded by his family. Ben was born on March 9, 1943 in Seattle to William and Jessie Ferry. He moved to Bellingham in 1950 where he graduated from Bellingham High School and then began an apprenticeship as an optician. Through a mutual friend he met Earla Freeburn; they married on August 2, 1969 in Seattle. Ben worked as an optician for 40 years until he retired in 2002 from Professional Optical in Olympia. After his retirement he and a few friends volunteered as grounds keepers at American Lake. Ben had previously been a president of the Washington Board of Opticians and on the board at the Sunshine House at St. Peter Hospital; he was a member of the Lamplighter's Lions Club and a very active member at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lacey. Ben thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and his gambling, whether through lottery or at the casinos. He and Earla had recently enjoyed traveling with friends to Scotland and on a caravan trip to Alaska. Known for his ability to help others without wanting recognition, he will be missed and forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Earla; daughter Christine Een, Lane Hobbs, and granddaughter, Erin Een; daughter and son-in-law, Lara and Jeff Dabbs and new grandbaby due in December; son Ron Ferry; his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Cindy Ferry; his uncle and aunt, Jack and Phyllis Sigurdson; numerous cousins and many family and friends. FERRY, Joseph Charles, age 67, of 2907 King St., Bellingham, passed away July 4, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. He was born July 17, 1923, in Bellingham and has been a local resident all his life. Mr. Ferry was raised in the Catholic Faith at Assumption Church; graduated from Bellingham High School; served in the Army during World War II, and was co-owner of Ferry Bros Meat Company. He was a musician who played part time professionally from the age of 13 in Bellingham and surrounding areas. He was a loving husband and father whose family was very special to him. Survived by his wife, Lovell; sons: Grant Allen Ferry & Michael Dixon; daughter Diana May Luke and husband Ronald; brothers, Frank & Mike Ferry, Jr.; several grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; uncle Gus Tenaglia; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held Mon., July 8, 11:00 a.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Father Justin Garvy officiating.

FERRY, Natalia, age 83, of 1805 Monroe St., passed away Fri., Aug. 23, 1985, Mrs. Ferry moved to Bellingham at 18 years of age and had been a resident of Bellingham and Ferndale for 65 years. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption; St. Anne's Womens Circle; preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ferry Sr. in 1971 and is survived by 3 sons, Mike Jr. and wife Maxine Ferry of Ferndale, Frank and wife Beany Ferry of city, Joe E. and wife Lovell Ferry of city; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Charles and wife Margaret Tenaglia of city, Gus and wife Oleta Tenaglia of Moses Lake, WA. FERRY, Nicola, age 65, of 2311 J St., passed away at his residence Tuesday, April 2nd, (1963). Mr. Ferry had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years and was a retired assistant foreman for the Great Northern Railway. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of [Rail]way Employees, Everett Local No. 1426. He leaves to survive two brothers, Joseph in Tucson, Arizona and Louie in Chicago, Ill.; three sisters in Italy and many other relatives. Rosary will be said Thursday, April 4th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 5th in the Church of the Assumption. FERRY, Nicola (Nick) Edgar, of Ferndale, WA passed away Fri, Oct 4, 1996 at United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley, WA. He was 74 years of age. Mr. Ferry was born May 15, 1922 to Joseph and Florence Ferry in Bellingham, WA. He was a graduate of Bellingham High School and served in the U. S. Navy throughout World War II, then subsequently served in the U. S. Navy Reserve until 1962. Mr. Ferry began his lifetime grocery career at Ferry's Market with his father and brother. He continued his grocery profession in partnerships working at Nick's Thrifty Market and the White House Market. Mr. Ferry finished his 62 year commitment to the grocery business when he retired from Brown and Cole's Ferndale Thriftway. After retiring, he worked as a security officer for Security Specialists Plus at Birch Bay Village. Mr. Ferry was a lifetime member in the VFW; enjoyed outdoor recreation and socializing with people. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Violet, of Ferndale and 7 children born to Nick and Patricia Ferry; Stephen J. Ferry and his wife Mary; Patrice W. Ferry; Sharon C. Ferry; Susan C. Robinson and her husband Del; Gayle F. Neher; Christopher N. Ferry and his wife Kathy; Anthony J. Ferry; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; step-children Glen Steinbach Jr.; Sharon Steinbach, all of Ferndale; Greg and wife Sharon Steinbach of Deming; Kenneth Steinbach of Ferndale; Michaelle Gates and her friend Mike of Bellingham; James Steinbach Sr. and friend Amy of Ferndale; Laureen and husband Jim Keough of Lynden; 15 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandson; mother-in-law, Erma Pierson; sisters-in-law and husbands Verna and Mike Parrish; Janice and Bob Pfannenstiel, all of Bellingham; brothers-in-law Kenneth Pierson and friend Carol of Lynden; Edwin Pierson of Laurel; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral will be held Wed., Oct 9, 1996 1 p.m. at Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

FERRY, Orville C., age 68, of 2418 Cherry St., passed away in a local hospital, Friday June 28, (1974). A resident of Maple Falls area since 1918, he was a retired farmer and logger. He was past master of the Fidelity Lodge No. 105 F&AM, Sumas, past patron of Northwester Chapter of No. 104, OES and past patron of Nooksack Chapter No 171, OES, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and Nile Temple. Surviving are his wife, Elva; a daughter, Elaine Kendall; his mother-in-law, Alma Ivester all of Bellingham; a son Frank Ferry of Seattle; a sister, Aileen Bartl of Maple Falls; also 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 nephews. Funeral services will be held in Veroske's Bellingham Chapel, Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bobby O. Edwards officiating. Ritualistic rites will be provided by Fidelity Lodge No. 105 F&AM of Sumas with private burial services in the Maple Falls Cemetery.

FERRY, Ronald D., age 44 off 758 Larson Rd., passed away Sat., Sept. 26, (1987) at home. He was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County & had just celebrated his 24th Wedding Anniversary. He had worked for Sound Beverage Distributors for 20 yrs & had invested many hours in Greg's Tap Cleaning, a private business he owned w/his son. He was a sports enthusiast who especially loved the outdoors, spending time fishing & camping. He was a member of B.P.O.E. & bowled in the Traveling Elks Bowling League. He is survived by his wife Karen; 2 sons Greg & Jeff at home; his mother Louise Ferry of Ritzville, WA; 1 sister Rochelle Sulkosky of Puyallup; numerous uncles, cousins & other relatives & friends. Funeral services will be held Tues., Sept., 29, 1 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home w/burial at Greenacres Memorial Park.

FESSER, Otto Frank - Graveside services for Otto Frank Fesser, 73, a building contractor, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Justin Garvey, chaplain of St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Fesser, 924 N. Garden St., died Saturday (May 20, 1989) in Bellingham. He was born July 11, 1915, in Saskatchewan, and lived most of his life in Whatcom County. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Fonja Fesser of Bothell, Donna Griffing of Bainbridge Island and Susan Fesser of Issaquah; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Brandt and Polly Vaughn, both of Bellingham. FESSER, William, age 41 yeas who resided at 702 W. Holly Street, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, Feb. 13, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Fesser was a lifetime resident of Bellingham and was a retired sheet and metal worker. He leaves to survive his mother, Mrs. Sophie Fesser; 2 sisters, Mrs. Harry Vaughn and Mrs. George Brandt; and one brother Otto Fesser, also 5 nieces, all of Bellingham. Rev. D. W. Taylor, pastor of Our Saviours Lutheran Church will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, February 16 at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Bayview Cemetery.

FETHERSTON, Ruby I., age 83, of 2501 E St., Apt. 404 passed away Tues. March 23, 1982. FETTERS, Richard M. of Anacortes died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1993, in Bellingham. He was 45. A private family service was held. He was born July 5, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, to Edward and Garnett Fetters. Mr. Fetters was a caretaker on Center Island, Anacortes. Survivors include his wife Nancy of the family home; son Nathan Fetters of Seattle; daughter Anna Larson of Seattle; his mother, Garnett Fetters of Columbus, Ohio; brother Edward Fetters of Columbus; and sister Donna Powell, also of Columbus. FETTY, Ellen Everist, age 73 of 5775 Golden Eagle Drive, Ferndale, passed away Friday March 11, 1983. Mrs. Fetty had been a resident of Whatcom County for many years and is survived by 2 daughters, Judy and her husband, Dr. Gary Edmonds of Gunnison, Colorado; Kay and her husband Martin Owens of Baldwin, Kansas; 1 brother Emil Johnson of Ottawa, Kansas; 2 sisters, Esther Godwill of Portland, Orego; Beda Johnson of Lenexa, Kansas; 4 grandchildren; numerous other relatives. FEUER, Violette D., 93, died Sunday (May 8, 1988) in Bellingham. At her request, there will be no services. Cremation will be at Greenacres Crematorium and the ashes will be buried in Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside, Calif. Mrs. Feuer was born Oct. 18, 1894, in Minneapolis. She had lived in Bellingham for one year. Survivors include two sons, Owen of Bellingham and Murray of Houston; a daughter, Betty Lou Mohan of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

FEVIG, Hannah C., age 97, of 2733 Lynn St., died Thurs. April 19, (1990). She was born March 23, 1893 in Fargo, No. Dakota. She was raised and educated in Ulen, MN and then attended Fargo Conservatory of Music in Fargo,N. Dakota. She married Dr. William Fevig in 1916. She taught music for many years and played the church organ for 25 years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Uland, MN. Following her husbands death in 1945 she moved to Bellingham with her 2 younger daughters to be with her mother Carrie Moebeck. She was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church and she enjoyed playing the piano, reading and crocheting which she continued to do until January of this year. She was preceded by her father & mother, brother Harry, granddaughter, Mary Michaelson; grandson William Evans and infant great-grandson, Joshua Michaelson. She leaves to survive 4 daughters, Lois and her husband Robert Nelson of Bellingham, Helen & husband Charles Hoehner of Bellingham, Betty Evens of Yakima and June & her husband Clarence Erickson of Waukegan, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Mon. April 23 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, Rev. Curtis Atneosen officiating. Arrangements thru the Westford Funeral Home.
