FIRBANK, David J., 73, of 1904 Governor Rd., Bellingham, passed away Feb. 12, 1991. He was born May 5, 1917 in Vancouver, B.C. and lived in this community for the last 20 years. He had worked in sales & repair of electronics. He leaves to survive his wife Edna of the family home; 2 sons, David Firbank of Squamish, B. C., and James Firbank of N. FIRMAN, Mildred Irene, age 78, of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 1985. She is survived by her daughters, Janice & husband Samuel Polen of city, & Carol & husband James Stevenson of Bloomington, Indiana, 4 grandchildren & two brothers. FIROS, Josephine, age 77, of 2306 I St., passed away at the residence on Jan. 6, (1960) following and extended illness. Mrs. Firos had resided in Bellingham for the past five years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption. She leaves to survive her son, Peter J. Firos of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Florence Zaprowski of Warren, Penn., also seven grandchildren. The remains will lie in state in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home from 3 o'clock, Jan. 6, until 8:30 p.m. when the remains will be forwarded to the Heenan Funeral Home in Olean, N.Y., for burial.

FIROS, Peter J., 66, who resided at 2306 I St., passed away in a local hospital Sept. 8, (1975). He resided in Bellingham for the past 21 years and was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and veteran of WWII. He was affiliated with Mobil Corp. for 33 years. He leaves to survive his wife, Stella Firos at the family residence; also 2 sons, Lt. Junior Grade U. S. Navy Peter M. Firos and Michael Firos; 5 daughters, Airman First Class Anna M., Hospital Corpman Third Class U. S. Navy Philomena, Airman First Class Marcia M., Lucille Firos and Patricia Firos, Bellingham; 1 sister (Mrs.) Donald Zaprowski of Penn. FISCHER, Alfred L., age 84, of 1000 Jersey St., passed away Sun., July 8, 1979. Mr. Fischer was a retired musical instrument instrument maker, was a resident of this community for the past 26 years, member of the First Congregational Church, Senior Activities Center, Metropolitan Opera in New York & the Seattle Opera. FISCHER, Edward George, of 2015 24th St., #50, passed away Dec. 7, 1919 in Zealand N. D. He served his country in WWII and married Pauline Hart in 1939. Mr. Fischer was a longtime member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and a member of the American Legion. Preceded in death by daughter, Genevieve, he is survived by his wife Pauline of the family home; loving son, Michael and Wendy Fischer, their children, Michael and Angela, all of Redmond; grandson, whom he raised, Glenn and Kendra Schmidt, of Seattle; granddaughter, who he raised, Deborah and Lowell Highley, their children, Garrett, Lisa, and Jenna, all of Blaine; two brothers, Lawrence and Lucille Fischer of Longview; Leo Fischer of Salem, OR; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. FISCHER, John Joseph, age 68, of 830 Drayton St., Lynden, passed away Tuesday, evening, Jan. 10, 1989, at his residence following a long illness. He was born Dec. 25 1920, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Otto and Maria Fischer. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps Division. He married Grace Beebe on July 2, 1950, in Grand Coulee. They lived in Grand Junction, Colo., until 1966 and had been resident of the Lynden area since then. John was a member of the Pipefitters Union Local #40 and was also a member of the Camel Club in Lynden. A service for Mr. Fischer was held Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lynden with Fr. Tim McKenna as celebrant. Burial followed in Lynden Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Grace, of the family home; his children, Bill and wife Pat Neidigh of Darrington, Chuck Neidigh of Bellingham and Arlina Perez of Seattle, Tom and wife Jan Fischer of Clear Lake, Calif., Joe and wife Marsha Fischer of Blaine, and Mickie and husband Chris Aldaba of Richmond, B. C.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Gaddis and Mary Cruz, both of Wapato. He was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Skelly, of East St. Louis. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

FISCHER, Katherine, age 67 years, beloved wife of Mr. Leonz Fischer, Route 3, Bellingham, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, Oct. 11, (1945) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Fischer had been a resident of Whatcom county for the past forty-three years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption. She leaves to survive, beside her husband, one son, Karl Fischer, Route 3, Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Anne Williams, of Tacoma; one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Ulrich, Bellingham; four brothers, Mr. Rudolph, of Lynden, and three in Switzerland. Rosary will be said at the Church of the Assumption, Monday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. Requiem mass will be celebrated within the church, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m., with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Stafford officiating. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home. Casketbearers will be Anton Scherno, Frank Eberli, Albert Ulrich, Louie Burgler, Frank Reichlin and Ben Karlin.

FISCHER, Leonz, age 86, of Tacoma, passed away in that city, Sunday, June 11, (1950). Mr. Fischer had been a resident of Whatcom County for 60 years before moving to Tacoma a year ago. Surviving relatives include a son, Karl, of Tacoma; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Williams, of Tacoma; one brother Arnold in Switzerland, and three grandchildren. Rosary will be said Wednesday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. within the Church of the Assumption. Requiem high mass will be Sung Thursday, June 15, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Cremer, celebrant. Interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

FISHCER, Martha (Schmidt), age 87, of 3121 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, (1989) in a local nursing home. She was a member of Church of God; preceded by her husbands John Schmidt, 1961 and William Fischer in 1977, her son, Edward Schmidt, in 1982. She leaves to survive a daughter-in-law Vaneta Schmidt, Sun City, Arizona West; 2 grandchildren Roger Schmidt of Bellingham & Virginia LaSalle, Seattle; 6 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews in the U. S. and Canada. Funeral services will be conducted Wed. Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Long, officiating.

Services for Martha Schmidt Fischer, 91, a native of Poland and a former Pacific Laundry employee, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Westford Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Westford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Fischer, 700 32nd St., died Friday. She was born Aug. 21, 1898 in Slumka, Poland, and moved with her family to Saskatchewan as a young girl. She married John Schmidt in 1916. He died in 1961. Her son, Edward, died in 1982 and a daughter died in infancy. Mrs. Fischner moved with her family to Whatcom County in the 1930s. After the death of her first husband, she married William Fischer in 1965. The couple moved to St. Joseph, Mich., where she lived until his death in 1977. She then moved back to Bellingham. Mrs. Fischer was a member of Cornwall Park Church of God and enjoyed gardening, canning and baking bread. Survivors include two sisters, Helen Gerbrandt of Saskatchewan and Lidia Gerbrandt of Fort St. John, B. C.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

FISCHER, Mary Jane, age 92 years, of Forks, passed away in a Port Angeles hospital, Wednesday, Nov. 20, (1957) following a lingering illness. She came to Sumas in 1908 and resided in Sumas for six years before moving to Richfield, Wash. She is survived by her husband Karl Fischer, of Forks; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Shirley of Sumas, Mrs. Betty Brooks of Spokane; three sons, Richard Fleming of Klamath Falls, Ore., Claude Fleming, of Otis, Ore., Lawrence of Shelton, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The remains rest in Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas pending funeral arrangements.

FISCHER, Maude Heyes - Bellingham resident Maude Heyes Fischer, whose work with the Friends of the Library helped make the Bellingham Public Library one of the most successful systems in the state, is dead at 84. Fischer, of 2927 Ellis St., died in a Bellingham nursing home. She had been actively involved in the library group until the last few years of her life, when illness slowed her. The Friends of the Library's annual book sale, held during the Ski to Sea Festival, raises money used to purchase typewriters, magazine subscriptions and other extras not in the library's regular budget, according to Richard Zarnowitz, the group's treasurer. "Well into her 80s, she was down here every day, sorting, pricing, getting ready for the book sale," said Claudia McCain, director of the Bellingham Public Library. "We thought she would keep going forever." In 1988, Fischer was given the Meritorious Service Award by the Washington Library Friends and Trustees Association. In addition, Friends of the Library offered a Maude Heyes Fischer Award for Excellence in Reading this summer to three elementary and middle school children taking part in the program. She originally was involved in the Druzea Club, organized to support library activities. It was out of that group that Friends of the Library was founded, Zarnowitz said. She also helped found the Proto Club, the Thursday Study Club. She attended Unity Church of Bellingham. Her husband, Ralph, died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Richard "Dick" Fischer of Bellingham; a sister, Edna Eastwood of Bellingham; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. FISCHER, Ralph G., age 83 who resided at 2927 Ellis Street, passed away in a local nursing home, Wed., Sept. 24, 1980. He was a former owner of the Maple Street Grocery Store, a member of the VFW, No. 3685. He is survived by his wife Maude; 1 son, Richard; 1 sister, Alma Haner, all of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. FISH, Bernice J., age 60, 2500 East Sunset Dr., Bellingham, passed away in Bellingham Monday, Dec. 28 1988. Private family services were conducted. She is survived by her husband, Jack; one son, Kit D. Fish of Bellingham; one daughters, Laurie D. Dawkins of Portland, Ore.; her father, Marvin D. Courtney of Lynden; three brothers, Foster Courtney of Lynden, Leslie Courtney of California and Alvin Courtney of Seattle. Arrangements were by Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

FISH, Christena, age 80 years, passed away at the family home, 2439 Grant Street, Tuesday, January 8, (1946). Mrs. Fish had been a resident of Bellingham for the past seventeen years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Fish, of Fargo, North Dakota, and Fred Fish, of Lawton, North Dakota; two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Roose, of Bellingham, ad Miss Isabelle Fish, of Fairbanks, Alaska; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The body rests at the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, where services will be conducted from the Cathedral Chapel Friday, January 11, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Russell Gregg Bisnett, officiating. Cremation.

FISH, Edna Earl, age 75, of 1207 15th St., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Dec. 20, (1955). Mrs. Fish had resided in this community for the past 35 years and was a member of the Fairhaven Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include three sons, Sidney of Spokane, Melbourne of Seattle, and Jack of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Holland of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Darlene Donnelly and Mrs. Jerry Guernsey of this city; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Kingen of Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Etna Bennet of Spokane. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Alfred S. Palmer Thursday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. Cremation.

FISH, Elsa L. died Wed., June 26, 1985 at the Mid Valley Hospital in Omak, Wa. Born March 4, 1916 in Molson, Wa. Elsa attended grade school at the Kipling School, then attended high school in Molson graduating in 1934. On July 6, 1934 she married Harold Fish in Republic, Wa. She and her husband moved to Tonasket living there until 1940. In 1941 the family moved to Orting where Elsa was active in community affairs some of which were in the school & in the Grange. She was a member of the Oroville Grange. They moved to the coast in 1957 most of which was in Bellingham. Following retirement thy returned to Okanagan Valley settling in Oroville. Surviving her husband Harold of Oroville, 1 son Harold "Bud" Fish of Bellingham, Wa., 1 brother Virgil "Bill" Shaw of Oroville, 6 grandchildren, & 1 great grandchild. Preceded in death by 4 sisters & 2 brothers. Memorial services will be held on Sat. June 29, 1985 at 1 p.m. at the Bergh Funeral Chapel in Oroville with Rev. Bill Peck officiating

FISH, Harold W. - Former Whatcom County building inspector Harold W. Fish, 80, of Oroville, Wash., died Wednesday, April 22, 1992, in Oroville. He was born March 11, 1912, in Minnesota. He married his first wife Elsa in July 1934. She died June 26, 1985. A Whatcom County resident from 1960 through 1978, he owned and operated the Evergreen Motel and served as a Whatcom County building inspector. H married his second wife Violet in December 1985. She survives him in Oroville. Mr. Fish was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. Other survivors include his son Harold J. Fish of Bellingham; daughter Leona Cohrs of Puyallup; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held April 24 at the Oroville Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arrangements were by Berg's Funeral Home of Oroville.

FISH, Henry Z., 91 years, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, January 13, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mr. Fish had been a resident of Lynden for the past thirty-six years and leaves to survive, one daughter, Lucy, of Lynden; two sons Thomas G., of Lynden, and Theron P. of Ogden, Utah; also two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 17, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies funeral home in Lynden. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.

FISH, Jan Marie, age 41, of Everson, died suddenly Sunday January 23, 1994 [hiking accident]. She will be missed so very much. Jan. was born November 22, 1952 in Pasadena, CA. Growing up, Jan was active in Girl Scouts and Church. She leaves behind her beloved husband, climbing partner and best friend, David Fish and her three special girls, Erin, Kim and Elizabeth, all of the family home. Jan dedicated her life to her family and was loved very much. All who knew Jan, knew her gracious spirit and her selfless attitude. She was someone who was always there for anyone who needed her. Because of her great love for the Lord, Jan would want all who knew her to rejoice with her in her home-going to Him. In Altadena, CA on March 1, 1974, Jan was married to David and they moved to Whatcom County in 1981 from Coburg, OR. She attended Centerpoint Community Church and worked as a baker at the Elephant and Castle Restaurant at Bellis Fair Mall. Besides her husband and daughters, Jan is survived by her parents, Ann and Jerry Neyenhouse of Brownsville, OR; brother Jerry Neyenhouse and wife Monica of Deshler, Nebraska; brother Jeff Neyenhouse and wife Nancy of Puyallup, WA; mother and father-in-law Dick and Shirley Fish of Eugene, OR; brother-in-law Fred Fish and wife Diep of Irvine, CA; nieces and nephews, Jerry, Richard and Krista Neyenhouse of Deshler, Nebraska and Jill and Brian Neyenhouse of Puyallup, WA. Funeral services will be held at Nooksack Valley Baptist Church on Thursday January 27 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Randall officiating. Burial will follow in Ten Mile Cemetery. FISH, Martha E., age 91 years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, August 26, (1947) after a brief illness. Mrs. Fish had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-seven years and was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She leaves to survive, one daughter, Mrs. Berton Holstine, and one son, Hesperus R. Fish, Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services were held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 27, at 3:30 p.m., conducted by Chester Rutledge, followed by cremation.

FISH, Mary Louise, of Lynden, passed away Friday, June 27, (1947) in Lynden, following a long illness. She had been a resident of Lynden for the past 16 years. Surviving are her husband, Thomas G.; one son, Milton B. Whittmore, of Washington, D. C.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 30, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with Rev. Robert Robinson of Sumas, and Rev. Robert Peterson of Bellingham officiating. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.

FISH, Willis Adolph of Bellingham died at home Friday, Jan. 3, 1997. He was 82. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Strum officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park with time for fellowship and refreshments afterward in the Cantelon Room of Calvary Temple. Born Jan. 11, 1914, to William B. and Tillie Gullickson Fish in Snohomish, he was a local resident for 60 years. He married Ruth M. Lundquist on Feb. 21, 1937, in Bellingham. Mr. Fish retired from Skagit Steel as a welder. A member of Calvary Temple, he loved outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and archery. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn, and a sister, Freda. Survivors include his wife; daughter Barbara DuPraw of Bellingham and Nina McGhee of Brier; brothers Dan Fish of Seattle, Harold Fish of Soap Lake and Troy Fish of Yakima; sisters Stella Hawkins of Vancouver, Wash., and Viola Getz of Roseburg, Ore.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

FISHBAUGH, Alice Greene, of Everson, passed away Sunday, September 23, (1945) at the age of 78 years. She had been a resident of the Everson district for the past eighteen months and leaves to mourn, two brothers, William A. Greene, of Seattle, Dr. Inslee Blare Greene of Everson; one sister, Mrs. Helen Greene Chesterley, of Yakima, and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 26, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas with Rev. Canon E. B. Smith, of Bellingham, officiating. The remains will be shipped to New Jersey for interment.

FISHBOURNE, Clayton E., age 65, a resident of Mt. Vernon, and former resident of Blaine and Bellingham, passed away Nov. 26, (1990) in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 1990, 2:00 p.m. at the View Crest Assembly of God Church in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Don Shover officiating. FISHBOURNE, Josephine, age 94 of Wenatchee, was a former resident of Bellingham, died Aug. 12, 1987 in a Wenatchee Nursing Home. Mrs. Fishbourne was born in Blaine at the family homestead, Feb. 24, 1893. The youngest child of Whatcom County Pioneers, William & Lucretia Sweet Evans. She attended Excelsior School & Blaine High School. On Sept. 29, 1910 she married Stephen Josef Kuzina. He preceded her in death in 1915 in Phoenix, AZ. On Jan. 28, 1917 she married William Francis Fishbourne in Blaine. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1935. Mrs. Fishbourne attended nursing school in 1962 & in 1963 she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital & later at St. Lukes Hospital for a number of years. Always a very giving person, she continued to use her nursing skills by working as a private home nurse & by collecting medical supplies for missions. She moved to Wenatchee in 1979. Survivors include her 3 sons, Clarence J. Kuzina of Sumner, William F. Fishbourne of Wenatchee, & Clayton E. Fishbourne of Mt. Vernon; her daughter Muriel J. McBride of Sedro Woolley; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, the Rev. Gregory Austin officiating. Concluding services & interment will be in Haynie Cemetery, Blaine. Visitation will be Friday 11 a.m. until service time. FISHER, Alfred LeRoy "Bud", age 58, former Burlington Resident, died suddenly while visiting in North Bend, OR. he was born in Mt. Vernon, WA, September 1, 1929. He was a member & past president of the Sedro Wolley Lions Club, a member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge, & the Maverick Lions Club in Carson City, NV; he was employed as an Advanced Custom Computer Engineer by the IBM Corporation. Survived by his wife Marcie of Carson City, NV; son Steve Fisher of Mt. Vernon; daughter & son-in-law Kathy & Tim Walker of Bellingham; father & step-mother Henry & Pearl Fisher of Sedro Woolley; sister Ione Carrington of Sedro Woolley; sister & brother-in-law Eileen & Jack Lauver of Sedro Woolley; 2 grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews. Ms. Fisher died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997. She was 74. Born April 15, 1922, to Edward and Elsie Beug Fisher in Chilliwack, B.C., she lived in Bellingham since 1942. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she was involved with Priscilla Circle and Fellowship Board and served as secretary for the Lutheran Aid Association. Ms. Fisher volunteered for the Whatcom County Information Center at Bellis Fair mall and for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She also knit socks and caps for homeless people, and enjoyed baking, cooking, travel and picnics. Survivors include sister Helen Fisher of Springfield, Va., and niece Lori Wagner and nephew Valentine Wagner III, both of Manassas, Va.

FISHER, Alma Leistiko, age 73, of Kirkland, died at her residence Jan. 30, 1985 following an extended illness. She was born on March 16, in 1911 in Heimdal, N. Dakota. She moved to Woodland, WA with her parents at the age of four. In 1917 they moved to Portland where she attended the public schools. Later in 1927 she was married to Anthony Fisher in the Portland area and in 1930 they moved to Everson, WA and resided there until 1955. Mrs. Fisher attended the Bellingham Beauty School, graduating in 1948. She established a beauty shop in Everson the following year. In 1955 she and her husband moved back to the Portland area to reside. She continued to work as a cosmetologist until 1974 at which time she retired. Upon retirement she moved to Kirkland, WA where she has since resided. She is survived by 4 sons, Anthony of Bellingham, Loren of Everett, Joseph of Kirkland and Michael of Vancouver, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, Mrs. Marie Wright of Ferndale, WA. Her husband preceded her in death in 1972. Funeral services will be held Sat. Feb. 2, 11 a.m. at the Overlake Christian Church in Kirkland, WA. Inurnment will follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor, WA. FISHER, Alva E., age 61 of 1442 Smith Rd., passed away at his home Monday, January 27, (1964) following a brief illness. He had been a resident of Whatcom County the past 60 years and for the past six years had been employed by Whatcom County. He attended the North Bellingham Community Church, was a charter member of the Sumas Valley Grange and a member of the Teamsters Union. Surviving are his wife, Caroline; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Wifler, Mrs. Betty Erickson; 1 son, Fred Fisher, all of Bellingham; 1 brother, Glenn Fisher of Sumas; also 11 grandchildren. FISHER, Augusta, age 89, of 324 N. Commercial Street, passed away at her home Monday, May 8, (1950). Mrs. Fisher had resided in this city for the past 15 years. The Fishers had earlier, from 1910 until 1935, resided in Lynden and upon the passing of Mr. Fisher in 1935, Mrs. Fisher moved to this city. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Evangelic Church. Storrey, of Richmond Beach, Wash.; one grandson, Kenneth G. Jenkins, of Olympia; one granddaughter, Mrs. Paul Winters, of McMinnville, Ore.; three stepsons, Henry C., of Amherst, Neb., William E., of Kearney, Nev.(sic) and Fred H. Fisher, of Triplett, Mo. FISHER, Carl W., age 76, 1970 Main Street, Ferndale, died July 9, 1990 in Bellingham. He was born March 20, 1914 in Alladin, WA. He was a Whatcom County resident since 1931. Mr. Fisher was a volunteer for the Ferndale Fire District No. 7, had been on the Ferndale City Council and was a past Mayor of Ferndale. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Amelia S. FISHER, Clarence Appleton, age 66 of 2309 Eldridge Avenue passed away at home Sunday April 10, (1960). He taught in the Bellingham Schools for the past 41 years, the last 23 as Industrial Arts Instructor at Fairhaven Junior High. He was a veteran of World War I, a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where he had served on the Board of Trustees, the Board of Deacons and for many years was Church Clerk, which office he had held at the time of his death, was an active member and past president of the Mt. Baker Club and served as guide for climbing parties at various times. He was a past president and member of the Board of the Washington Teachers Credit Union and was an active member of the Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 American Legion for 41 years. The remains will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home until Wednesday at 1 p.m. Memorial services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church by Rev. James B. Hughes, Wednesday April 13 at 3 p.m. Officers of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 will conduct ritualistic services at Bayview Cemetery. FISHER, Edna McKinnon, ae 96, of 2600 Old Fairhaven Parkway, Bellingham passed away Tuesday, February 25, 1992 at a local resthome. She was born June 23, 1895 in Mt. Vernon, WA to Daniel and Margaret McKinnon. She married William A. Fisher, former superintendent of schools for Lynden, in 1922 and they were married for 34 years until his death in 1956. She graduated from Western Washington State College and taught school at Lynden High School for 40 years, Sedro Woolley High School, and Western Washington State College. The Fisher Elementary School in Lynden was so named for the dedication of service in education. Her hobby was politics and she was a precinct committeeperson for the Republican party. Edna will be remembered for leading the prayers at the annual Lincoln Day dinner and for her speeches. She was a member of Garden Street Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of P.E.O. and a very active Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. She is survived by 4 grandchildren, Brent Walker and wife Cherie, Scott Walker and wife Kathie, all of Bellingham, Karl Fiser and wife Kathie of Hoopa, CA and Robert Anthony of Boston Mass.; 4 great-grandchildren, Regan, Trevor and Heather Walker of Bellingham and Alanna Fisher of Hoopa, CA. FISHER, Ethel B. - A graveside service for Ethel B. Fisher, formerly of Bellingham, will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Bayview Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Fisher died Saturday, July 12. 1997, in a nursing facility in Los Altos, Calif. She was 100. Born in Wahoo, Neb., she graduated from Bellingham Norman School, now Western Washington University. She married Harold Fisher on Sept. 14, 1921. He died in 1981. Mrs. Fisher was a member of Bellingham Women's Music Club, Aftermath Club, St. Luke's Assistance League and First Baptist Church since 1920. She also was affiliated with Wally Byam Travel Club. She enjoyed travel and singing with the music club and in the church choir. FISHER, Helen P., Edmonds, age 90, died May 9, (1980) in Edmonds Hospital. She was born in Tantoul, Illinois on March 29, 1890. She resided in Blaine & Lynden, Wash. for many years, until coming to Edmonds 12 years ago. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors & Rebeckah Lodge and the Methodist Church. FISHER, Larry R., of 2101 H. St. died Wednesday, June 30, 1993, of a heart attack. He was 48. A memorial service will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the north shelter of Cornwall Park in Bellingham. Born Oct. 26, 1944, in Seattle, he served in the U.S. Navy for three years. A Bellingham resident for more than 25 years, he worked at Bellingham Cold Storage. Mr. Fisher loved music, and played keyboards and piano. He also enjoyed fishing and clamming. Survivors include his parents Frank and Virginia Mariotto of Bellingham; a son Jason Fisher of Bellevue; brothers Terry Fisher of Everett, Robert J. Fisher of Bellevue; and a sister C. J. FISHER, Lucille M., 90, former Whatcom County resident, died Friday (Dec. 9, 1988) in Albany, Ore. Mrs. Fisher was born July 27, 1898, in Tacoma and lived in Whatcom County from 1917 to 1980. She was a secretary with Fisher Flour in Bellingham and the YMCA in Bellingham. She was a member of the Arlington Congregational Church. Survivors include two sons, David Fisher of Oakville and Charles Fisher of Santa Ana, Calif.; a daughter, Lila McQueen of Sweet Home, Ore.; three step-daughters, Clarice Haynes of Bellingham, Lucille Sevier of Port Orchard and Grace Woodruff of Port Ludlow; 10 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 32 step-great grandchildren. FISHER, Lucy Louise - A funeral service for Lucy Louise (Ensch) Held Fisher of Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Westford Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jay DeFolco officiating. Mrs. Fisher died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Shuksan Health Care. She was 97. Born Feb 11, 1903 to Nicholas and Maria (Gengler) Ensch in Luxembourg, Germany, she lived in Seattle before moving to Bellingham in 1957. Mrs. Fisher married Ludwig Held and they were the former owners of Swiss Chalet (now Cliff House Restaurant). He died in 1973. Mrs. Fisher later married John A. Fisher. He died in 1995. Survivors include so Charles T. Held of Deming, daughters Margaret J. McCormick of Issaquah and Elizabeth L. Gifford of Yakima, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

FISHER, Mary, age 78, of Sumas, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, Feb. 14, (1954) following a lingering illness. She had resided in the Sumas district for the past 50 years and was a member of the Sumas Valley Grange. She is survived by two sons, Alva of Bellingham, Glen B. of Sumas Rt. 1; one brother, Calvin Ramsey, of Alameda, Calif.; three sisters, Rose Beino of Seattle, Helen Kueline of San Francisco, Violet Erickson of Sumas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. FISHER, Maybelle, age 36 years, 2030 James Street, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday morning, March 20, (1945). Mrs. Fisher had spent her entire life in this community and was a member of the Broadway United Presbyterian Church. Surviving relatives include her husband, Mr. Emmett W. Fisher; two sons, Merlin and Lane P. of the home; her mother, Mrs. Lena Powell, Bellingham; two brothers, Jesse and Galvin Powell, of Bellingham. FISHER, Mona Jeanne - Services for a former Bellingham resident, Mona Jeanne Fisher, will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at St. Mark's Cathedral, 1245 10th Ave. E., Seattle. Mrs. Fisher, 86, died Thursday in Seattle. She was born March 25, 1900, to Minor and Nora Mouso in Nashua, Iowa. The family moved to Bellingham four years later, where her parents operated a local grocery store. After graduating from high school in Bellingham in 1919, Mrs. Fisher attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied interior decorating. She later returned to Bellingham and married Rudolph Matthes. Together they designed and built the Riverside Golf Course in Ferndale and operated it until 1931. After her husband's death in 1937, Mrs. Fisher moved to Seattle, where she operated a gift and arts shop from 1942 until her retirement in 1964. In 1946, she married Folsom Fisher in Seattle. He died in 1977. Mrs. Fisher was active in the Sisterhood of PEO and was a volunteer for the Seattle chapter of the American Red Cross. Survivors include two daughters, Marvlyn Matthes Dehn of Seattle and Jo Ann Matthes Lysak of Olympia; two cousins; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

FISHER, Morrison W., age 55, passed away at home in Seattle April 30, 1984. He was an owner of an auto parts store. He leaves to survive his wife, Diane Fisher of Seattle; father of Rev. Morrison P. FISHER, Thomas H., age 87 years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, January 15, (1946). FISHER, Walter F., age 70, of 812 16th St. passed away in a local hospital Sunday, February 19, (1961). A resident of Bellingham for the past 51 years, Mr. Fisher taught at the Whatcom High School from 1916 to 1918 and was a practicing attorney for the past 40 years; was a member of the Whatcom County Bar Assn.; member of the St. James Presbyterian Church; was manager and secretary of the Bellingham Association of Credit Men for 20 years. Survivors are his widow, Myra, at home; one sister, Mrs. Roscoe C. Jenkins, of Everett; numerous nieces and nephews. FISHER, William F. - Services for former Northwest Washington Fair Association board member William F. Fisher will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hulbush Funeral Home in Burlington. Th Rev. Douglas Huston will officiate. Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery. Mr. Fisher, 90, of Bow died Monday (Jan. 1, 1990) at a nursing home in Burlington, after a three-week stay. He was born July 19, 1899, in Morill, Kan. A resident of Washington since 1901, Mr. Fisher moved to Skagit County in 1922 with his parents. He married Ethel Swanson on Nov. 9, 1943 in Seattle. The couple lived in Skagit County ever since they were married. A thoroughbred horse breeder and farmer, he retired in 1966. He was on the board of the Northwest Washington Fair Association in Lynden for 17 years, was past president of the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association, and was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife, of the family home, and two daughters, Bernice Schroegel and Lola Fisher, both of Seattle.

FISK, Alice, age 63, Port Orchard resident, passed away at her home (Nov. 10, 1987). She was born July 3, 1924 in Everett & attended schools in Bellingham. Before her retirement about 7 years ago, Mrs. Fisk was an Assistant Manager for the Bremerton Office of the State Employment Security Department. She & her husband of 42 years Raymon were avid miniature enthusiasts & belonged to the Gulliver's Guild & Kitsap Miniaturists. Mrs. Fisk also was especially fond of English History & made many trips to England. She is survived by her husband; son Patrick of Seattle; daughter Gillian Waxler of California; brother Maurice Jensen of Bellingham; and 4 grandchildren. FISK, Ida K., age 79, of 1904 Harris Ave., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 13, (1962). FITZGERALD, Catherine E., age 86, of 2203 Elm Street, passed away at her home early Tuesday Morning, September 6, (1949) following a short illness. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a pioneer resident of the county, having resided at Ferndale since 1890 with the exception of the last 2 1/2 years when she has made her home in Bellingham. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, the American Legion Auxiliary Post of Ferndale and of the Pomona Grange. Surviving relatives include one son, Leo C. Fitzgerald, of Long Beach, California; one daughter, Cecilia M. Zaremba, of Bellingham; three grandchildren, Robert and Geraldine Fitzgerald, both of Long Beach, and Robert Zaremba, of Yakima. FITZGERALD, Earl A., age 77 years of 2032 Ellis Street, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, June 7, (1959). Mr. Fitzgerald had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 15 years. He was an honorary member of World War II, having operated a listening post relaying messages from Allied prisoners to their families. He was the author or two books, "Voices in the Night" and "Out of the Mist." Surviving his his wife, Mary J., at the family home; six sons, Roy R. of Everett, Thomas A., of Seattle, Robert M., of Blaine, John W., of Seattle, Arthur E. and Earl E., both of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Barrica in California; Mrs. Ila Miller of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Winona Wheeler of Oak Harbor; also 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. FITZGERALD, Earl Ellsworth, age 78 of Bellingham, passed away January 12, 2005 at St Joseph Hospital. He was born August 1, 1926 in Nebraska to Earl and Mary Fitzgerald. Earl graduated from Lynden High School in 1944 and married Patricia Jansen in 1949. Earl served in the Merchant Marine, worked for Northern Pacific Railroad, the Sewer Dept of the City of Bellingham, and for Grenier Oil. He enjoyed traveling, rock hounding and woodworking. He is survived by his wife Patricia of the family home; daughters Jackie Buck of Bellingham and Kathy Fitzgerald of Ferndale; son Michael Fitzgerald of Bellingham; and grandchildren Melissa and Kyle Buck and Johnye Williams. FITZGERALD, Kathleen, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Fitzgerald, who resided at 3849 Alabama, passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, July 22, (1958). Besides her parents Kathleen is survived by two half-brothers, Bobby and Billy Gebo and one half-sister, Judy. Also many other relatives. Rev. Private burial will be in Greenacres Cemetery in Bellingham. He was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Burwell, Neb., to Earl A. and Mary Fitzgerald. The family moved to Lynden when he was 16. Mr. Fitzgerald lived and worked in Whatcom County until his retirement from Del Monte in 1975. He had worked as a maintenance electrician for Alaska Packers Association for many years. Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by a son, James L. Fitzgerald, in 1986. Survivors include sons Patrick M. Fitzgerald of Blaine and Robert L. Fitzgerald of Port Orchard; daughters Sharon Pearl Richardson of Maryland, Sandra Joy Kaplan of Florida, Sallie Jean Killebrew of Port Orchard and Susan Pauline Just and Shirley Anne Sebastion, both of Wenatchee; brother Earl Fitzgerald of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters Ida Miller of Everett and Winona Wheeler of California; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. FITZGERALD, Sheryl, age 18, of 5023 Noon Rd., Bellingham, passed way Sunday, July 2, 1978. Sheryl was a resident of Whatcom county for 18 years and is survived by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Rohde, of Bellingham, Robert Fitzgerald of Marysville; 2 brothers, James Lee Fitzgerald in the U. S. Navy, Leroy Walter Rohde of Bellingham; a sister Diana Lynn Cartwright of Bellingham; her grandparents, Byrl Akers of Miami, Okla., Rev. and Mrs. Benton Sutton of Bellingham; numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thurs., July 6, at 2:30 in Moles Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. [auto accident]

FITZGERALD, Vern Fred, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Fitzgerald, of 2323 F Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, July 25, (1954) at the age of 2 days. Besides the parents, he leaves to survive a brother, Gregory; two sisters: Penny Jo and Margie Alice, all at the family home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Anderson of Bellingham; and a great many other relatives. Graveside services were conducted by Dr. W. Carl Calhoun at Woodlawn Cemetery, Monday, July 26, at 2 p.m., under the direction of Harlow-Hollingsworth.

FITZGIBBON, Laird D., age 70, of Portal Way Apts. No. 2, Ferndale, passed away in Ferndale Dec. 3, 1986. He was born in Tobias, Nebraska, Feb. 16, 1916. He was a Whatcom County resident for 28 years. Attended Evergreen Community Church of Ferndale. Survivors, 2 sons, Larry & Gary Fitzgibbon of Nebraska; daughter Sherry Fitzgibbon of Nebraska; 2 step-sons, Hilary Whaley of Everson & Clinton Whaley of Oregon; 3 step-daughters, Cheryl Kennard of Seattle, Mary Lou Ahlstedt of Ferndale, Donna Dee Schweitzer of Blaine; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be Sat., Dec. 6, 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Community Church with Pastor Steve VanVleck & Rev. Wilfred Gunderson officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. FITZGIBBON, Richard – A service for Richard Fitzgibbon of Kenmore, formerly of Bellingham, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle. Mr. Fitzgibbon died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 in Kenmore. He was 51. Born Oct. 14, 1949 in Seattle, he lived in Bellingham from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Fitzgibbon owned and operated the fishing vessel "Erin Lynn" and fished in Alaska.

FITZMAURICE, George F., age 76, of 3121 Squalicum Parkway, passed away Mon. Sept. 5, (1988). He was a retired U. S. Naval veteran and leaves to survive a niece Liz Bennett (of Chico, CA). Funeral services will be Fri. Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at Westford Funeral Chapel, Father John Madigan officiating.

FITZMAURICE, Helen - Retired St. Joseph Hospital nurse Helen Fitzmaurice, 74, 2602 Henry St., died Thursday, (July 14, 1988) at a Bellingham hospital. Born Aug. 2, 1913, in Minnesota, she lived in Bellingham 69 years. Mrs. Fitzmaurice was a member of Sister Xavier's Auxiliary and Elks Emblem Club. Survivors include her husband, George, of the family home; and three half-sisters in Minnesota. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Westford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

FITZPATRICK, Amelia, 61, passed away Thursday (Jan 1, 1942) after a year's illness. She had resided here since 1935 and was a member of the Psychic Research society. Surviving is the husband, Edward Fitzpatrick. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m in the Harlow-Hollingsworth chapel. Cremation will follow.

FITZPATRICK, Edward, age 69, 1228 State Street. passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Jan. 23, (1956). Mr. Fitzpatrick had resided in this community for the past 20 years; was a retired prospector and also had been employed by the N. W. Steel Casting Co. There are no surviving relatives. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Father W. Robert Webb, Friday, Jan. 27, at 10:45 a.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

FITZPATRICK, Elizabeth Roessel, age 71, of 2312 Dean, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, December 9, (1953). Mrs. Fitzpatrick had resided here for the past 61 years and was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans. Surviving relatives include two brothers, Fred Roessel of Bellingham, and Henry Roessel of Kent, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews including George Bonner of Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. E. M. Butenshon Friday, December 11 at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

FITZWATER, Loretta E., 87, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 1986) at St. Francis Health Care Center, where she had been a resident since the home opened last year. She was previously a resident of the old St. Francis home and other nursing homes for several years. Mrs. Fitzwater was born Sept. 18, 1898, in Minnesota. Her father was the late Herman Fussner, who founded the Fussner Monument Company in 1922. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph Hospital's School of Nursing in the 1920s. She had been a resident of Bellingham most of her life and worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital. She was married to the late Albert Fitzwater. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for more than 25 years. Survivors include a cousin, Pauline Barbo, of Bellingham; and a lifelong friend, Helen Walsh, of Bellingham, who cared for Mrs. Fitzwater for many years. The rosary will be recited at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, in the Church of the Assumption, with Father Paul Dalton as celebrant. Burial will be in Bayview cemetery. [other surviving cousins: Rose Hastin, Joe I. Kussman, Irene Baker, all of Bellingham, and Marjorie Slack of New Mexico.]

FITZWATER, Nellie B., age 98 of 919 Fawcett Ave., Tacoma died Wed. July 21, 1982 in a Tumwater Nursing Home. Mrs. Fitzwater was a graduate of Oak Harbor, Ohio High School in 1902; attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, later teaching first grade in Oak Harbor. She came to Bremerton in 1906 and taught the primary grades there. She married her husband Esker, June 30, 1909 in Bremerton, moving to Bellingham in 1912. Mr. Fitzwater died in an accident on a trip to Indiana in 1938. Mrs. Fitzwater returned to Bremerton that same year & worked for Thompson's Stationers Store, her brothers store in Bremerton. She moved to Tacoma 8 years ago and then came to Olympia 10 months ago. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Bremerton, Reliance Chapter, No. 70, OES in Bremerton for 50 years, Gama Study Club, Leisure Club, The Pioneer Teachers Association & The Retired Teacher Association. She is survived by twin daughters, Mrs. Bert (Helen Lucile) Oliver of Olympia, Mrs. John (Marion Virginia) Monroe of Bellingham; three grandchildren, Marian Bremmer of Bellingham, James Oliver of Richland & John Oliver of Olympia; 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ralph Poulson, Saturday July 24th, in Moles Funeral Home. Family interment services will be held Tues. July 27th, in Woodlawn Cemetery. [b.
