FRY, John Lindsey, age 87, of Los Gatos, Calif., passed away in that city Saturday, Oct. 15th, (1966). A pioneer resident of Sumas he had made his home in California since 1921. Surviving are two sons John and William; two daughters, Mrs. Kirby Schull and Mrs. Walter Heineman, all in California; 8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral service will be held in the Sumas Cemetery Wednesday, Oct. 19th, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Stanley Kuntz officiating. Arrangements by Gillies Funeral Home.

FRY, Herman, age 76, passed away at the family home, 2604 Yew St., Saturday, July 9, (1955). Mr. Fry had been a 64-year resident of Whatcom County and for 35 years had resided in the Welcome District, as was a charter member of the Welcome Grange. Surviving him is his widow, Mary, at home, also many nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Mr. Albert C. Gunderson Wednesday, July 13 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Saxon Cemetery.

FRY, Gertrude L., age 88 of Thermalito, Calif., passed away at her home Sunday, July 28, (1963). A pioneer resident of Sumas she had made her home in California since 1921. Surviving are her husband, John Lindsey Fry, 2 daughters, Mrs. Kirby Schull and Mrs. Walter H. Heineman, 2 sons, John W. and William L., all in California, also 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held in the Sumas Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Saturday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m., Rev. Stanley Kuntz officiating.

FRYDENLUND, Kevin, 2 years old, son of Richard & Cindy Frydenlund passed away at Childrens Orthopedics April 17, 1981. He was born April 28, 1978 in Sedro Woolley. Survivors are his parents of Mt. Vernon; 1 brother Kelly of Mt. Vernon, maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Poppe, Mt. Vernon; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Frydenlund of Mt. Vernon; maternal great-grandmothers, Mrs. Freda Poppe & Mrs. Edith Lind both of Mt. Vernon; 1 paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Julia Tewalt of Clear Lake; numerous aunts, uncles & other relatives. FRYE, George Washington, age 83, passed away at his home, 1014 Forest Street, Saturday, April 16, (1949). Mr. Frye resided in this community for the past 36 years and had been custodian of the Masonic Temple. Deceased was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F.&A.M., Hesperus Commandery No. 8, K. T., Scottish and York Rite Bodies, and leaves to survive his widow, Iceafine, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Alice Hays, of Bellingham; one granddaughter; one brother, William, of Vancouver, B.C.; and two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Newberry, of Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Margaret Orange, of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingswoth, where services will be conducted by Dr. Robert T. McFarlane and officers of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 and Hesperus Commandery No. 8, Monday April 18, at 3:00 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

FRYE, Jack, age 5, of Route 4, Bellingham, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, January 23, (1950) following an illness of three weeks. Jack was a member of the Church of the Assumption. Surviving relatives include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Macari; one sister, Linda Diane; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Welch of Bellingham, and Mrs. Violet Frye of Seattle. Requiem mass will be celebrated Friday, January 27, at 9:30 a.m. within the church of the Assumption with the Rev. Fr. John Horan, celebrant. FRYE, Sommer Lane died unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 5, (1991) while fulfilling his "awesome desire" to learn to ride a Kawasaki KX80 dirt bike for the first time. Sommer, 13 and 3/4 years old, was born Dec. 21, 1977 in Seattle, WA to Susan Lee Jantz, Christian Dale Frye and his brother Joe S. Turner, 19 years old. [text missing] He also self-adopted Robin Zell, 17 and 7/8 years old as his brother. Sommer attended eighth grade at Whatcom Middle School in Bellingham, where he lived. Sommer was an inquisitive and independent thinker whose bright and mischievous charm, impish grin and distinctive style delighted and challenged everyone he touched. His every interest and pursuit was sparked with passion from reading, writing and drawing, to reggae and rap; from baseball, football and basketball to RC-10 cars and motorbikes; from cooking pasta and a mean lemon chicken, to long showers at Grandma's and eating croissants and Frango mints. He also had a penchant for using his dad's Metropolis Cologne. Sommer believed in protecting and defending children's and women's rights and in preserving the environment and all wildlife. Because he lived his life with intensity, everyone whose life he touched will feel his absence deeply, including his many friends, and their families and teachers. His extended family includes his maternal grandmother, Corinne Sheehan, Aunt Roxane Duran, Great Aunt and Uncle Ralph and Lavonne Jantz, cousins Darlene, Scotty, Dawn and Shavonne McMurray; Craig, Sharon, Carly and Rebecca Jantz. His paternal relatives include his step-mom Karin Engler, grandparents, Viola Evenson, Werner and Betty Engler, Wayne Frye Sr.; Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Thomas Burns, Uncles Wayne and Gary Frye, Cousins Heather Burns, Brian and Wayne Frye and Tiffany Engle. FRYE, William Allison, 69, 1505 Island View Dr., community leader and owner of William Frye Farmers Insurance Co., died Saturday (August 23, 1975) of a heart attack. Mr. Frye was a member of many organizations and had been the leader of several horse riding groups in Whatcom County. He is remembered as the head chef for the annual Whatcom county Cattlemen's Association beef barbecue. Among the groups Mr. Frye belonged to were Whatcom Lodge 151, F&AM; Maple Leaf Chapter 58, Order of the Easter Star; Marietta Grange, Washington State Horsemen's Association honorary member, Western Washington Appaloosa Club, Nooksack Valley Riders and Whatcom County Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of Marietta Community Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, A. Allison Stremler in California and Mary Lou Martin of Ferndale; a foster son, Glenn Nelson, of Alderwood Manor; five sisters, Florence Grabinski of Yakima, Joy Fulton and Lillian O'Brien of Renton, Fredda Gendril of Morton and Phyllis Belt of Everett; two brothers, Joffrie of Edmonds and Truman of Puyallup, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Moles Funeral Home, Ferndale, with burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

FRYER, Howard W., age 87, Ferndale, passed away at home Tuesday, December 22, (1964), following an extended illness. Mr. Fryer had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 30 years. He leaves to survive his wife, Goldie; 3 daughters, Mrs. Frona O'Brine of Lummi Island, Mrs. Verlyn Eschbach of Ferndale and Mrs. Geneva Manthy of Bellingham; 3 sons, Donald of Ferndale; Merle of Port Angeles and Dawane of Bellingham; 25 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 26 at 1:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Chapel, Dr. Wilfred Gunderson officiating. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

FUCHS, Frederick Carl, who resided at 1724 Smith Road, passed away in a local hospital at the age of 70 years following a short illness. Mr. Fuchs resided in Bellingham the past 20 years and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Central Lutheran Church and the Darigold association. He leaves to survive besides his wife, Roceina Fuchs, one son, Frederick P.; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Wickler, Mrs. Lena Rauch, all of Bellingham; Mrs Della Fuchs, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Pauline Perry of San Jose, Calif. Also 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rev. O. A. Jacobson, pastor of the Central Lutheran Church, will officiate at funeral services Tuesday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Bingham, Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. FUCHS, Paul F., age 30, of 14028 Cascadian Way, Everett, passed away Sat. June 23, (1979). Mr. Fuchs was a former longtime resident of Bellingham, and was a printer for the Seattle PI. He was a member of the Typographical Union, Seattle Local No. 92. He was in the first graduating class of Sehome High School. He leaves to survive 1 daughter, Pauline of Ferndale, his mother, Mrs. Janice & step-father Wilber E. Krein of this city, 1 sister, Sharon Drouet of Marysville, his step-grandmother, Mrs. Ida Allen, City, several nieces, nephews & other relatives. FUCHS, Roceina, age 90, formerly of 2816 Vallette St., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, (1976). A resident of this community for the past 41 years, Mrs. Fuchs was a member of Central Lutheran Church. Surviving 4 daughters, Mrs. Adella Fuchs, Billings, Montana, Mrs. Lena Rauch, Mrs. Mary Wickler, both of Bellingham and Mrs. Pauline Perry, of San Jose, Calif; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. FUCHSER, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Fuchser, of 1715 Lakeway passed away at a local hospital Monday, August 25th, (1952). Private funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 26th, within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

FUCHSER-McKINSTRY, Megan Mae, an infant, of 8325 Fawn Crescent Drive, Blaine, died Sunday (May 21, 1989) in Children's Hospital in Seattle. The family requested no services. She was born to Michael McKinstry and Evelyn Fuchser on May 19, 1989, in Seattle. Survivors include her parents; a sister, Sarah Kathryn Fuchser-McKinstry of the family home; grandparents James Fuchser of Sedro-Woolley, Kathryn Fuchser of Bellingham, Eleanor McKinstry of Anacortes and Bill McKinstry of Seattle; great-grandparents Ella Fuchser of Sedro-Woolley and Mr. and Mrs. Gayl Bookter of Bellingham; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. FUENFSTUECK, Ida, died Friday Feb. 4, (1966) in a local Sanitarium where she had been a resident for the past 3 years. Before coming to Bellingham to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Irving E. Mill for almost 15 years, she had lived in Sierra Madre, Calif. She had been a regular attendant at the First Baptist Church in Bellingham and for several years was a member of the Twentieth Century club and the Bellingham women's Music Club. She was born in Wilkes Barris (sic), Penn. on July 18, 1873, the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. E. A. Fuenfstueck. For many years she had been a kindergarten assistant in the Public Schools of Wausau, Wisc. and a worker with the children and youth in the late pastorate of her father in the Evangelical Reformed Church - now the United Church of Christ. She is survived by her sister, 1 nephew, Dr. Neal E. Miller of Yale University; 1 grand nephew James York Edgar Miller; 1 grandniece, Sara Rose Miller. Services will be conducted by Rev. Max K. Oliphant Wed., Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home followed by entombment in the mausoleum at Greenacres Memorial Park.

FUERENCY, Mary Elizabeth age 48 of Sumas passed away Friday, Nov. 25, (1960). Mrs. Fuerency was born March 25, 1912 in Spokane, Washington. Mrs. Fuerency had lived in Sumas for the past 5 years and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Survivors include 1 daughter, Rosemary of Sumas; 3 brothers, George R. Hurley of Kodiak, Alaska, Frank B. Hurley of San Jose, California and Joseph Hurley of Spokane; 3 sisters, Miss Gertrude Hurley of Spokane, Mrs. Frank Scott and Mrs. Forrest Greif both of Seattle. Also her mother, Mrs. Nora Hurley of Spokane. Rosary will be said Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas. Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Sumas with Father James Van Gogh officiating. Concluding services and interment will be held in Holy Rood Cemetery in Seattle.

FUGITT, Patterson P., 88, a Bellingham resident for forty years, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 19, 1991) at his home in Bellingham, following a short illness. Mr. Fugitt was born in Texas, and moved with his family to Colorado when he was eleven years old. He was a school teacher for two years, then went into business. He was a member of the Civilian U. S. Coast Guard Patrol during World War II. After moving to Bellingham, he worked for Whatcom County as an employee of the elections office prior to retirement. He was an avid collector of ceramic artwork, and was active as a flower gardener. He formerly owned the historic Wardner Castle, known as "Hilltop House" in the Fairhaven district. Patterson belong to Saint Andrews Masonic Lodge in Renton, The Order of Odd Fellows in Bellingham, York Rite Masonic Bodies, and was a Past Master of Fairhaven Masonic Lodge 73, in Bellingham. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Board of Trustees, Bellingham. He traveled extensively throughout the western states and Canada following his Masonic craft. His lifetime interest was doing good to others. He is survived by two sisters in Bellingham; a brother in Seattle, and their extended families. Funeral services will be Monday, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bellingham Masonic Temple, 2626 West Maplewood, under the direction of Fairhaven Masonic Lodge. Interment will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park. FUGITT, Sandi C. of Bellingham died Sunday, May 23, 1993, in Bellingham. At the request of her family, her date of birth and age will not be published. No services will be held. Cremation will take place. She was a resident of Bellingham the past eight years. A retired school teacher, she enjoyed bird watching and flowers. She is survived by brothers Lee Fugitt of Arizona and Douglas Fugitt of Washington; sisters Betty Pickens of California and DeVoe Thomas and Roxane Christensen, both of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. FULLAWAY, William N., age 56, of 812 Wilson Ave., passed away Monday, May 16, (1977) in a local hospital. He was a member of Bellingham Elks BPOE No. 194, ILWU Local 15 of Bellingham. FULLER, Adrian Lowell - Former Bellingham resident Adrian Lowell Fuller, 68, of Olympia, died Saturday (Apr. 26, 1986) in a Tacoma hospital. He was born April 23, 1918 in Bellingham, where he grew up and married the former Verna Wood. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Fuller worked as an electrical engineer for Fishback & Moore Co. until his 1984 retirement, and had worked in Vietnam and South Africa while under that firm's employ. He had also lived in Texas, Arizona and Aberdeen before coming to Olympia five years ago. Survivors include his wife, of the family home; two sons, Adrian Vern Fuller of Tulsa, Okla., and Jeffrey Fuller of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Forrest Fuller of California; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Forest Funeral Home, Olympia.

FULLER, Alfred, age 88 of 2500 Samish Way died Tuesday December 16, 1980, in Apache Junction, Arizona. A resident of this community for the past 40 years, Mr. Fuller was a member of Rome Chapel; Grandview Lodge No. 112 F & A M, Peoria, Illinois; Scottish Rite Bodies of Bellingham; Sehome Chapter No. 17 OES; Veterans of Foreign Wars & WWI veteran. FULLER, Anna M., formerly of Lynden, passed away at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center in Bellingham on Sunday, June 27, 1993 at the age of 75. Mrs. Fuller was born in Baltimore on May 21, 1918, a daughter of James and Helen Brokos Pike. She grew up in Ohio. She was employed as a bookkeeper for numerous firms, the last of which was the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey, Calif. for four years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter on the Island of Guam. After moving to Lynden in 1980, she attended Hope Lutheran Church. Mrs. Fuller is survived by her son Donald Fuller Jr.; granddaughter Wende Fuller of Prince George, British Columbia; step-sister Amelia Burnwell of Yorkville, Ohio; step-brother Henry Sadowski of Rayland, Ohio; and numerous other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Lynden with Rev. Wesley Howell officiating. Her ashes will be placed in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. FULLER, Brittany Jo, infant daughter of Tracy & Pamela Fuller of Bellingham, passed away Oct. 9, (1986). FULLER, Caroline Maxine of Bellingham died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Bellingham Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was 74. A private service will be held. Born July 27, 1923, to Edward and Carrie Watkins Gille in Congerville, Ill., she lived in Whatcom County for 42 years. Mrs. Fuller taught ceramics and enjoyed crafts. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Guitanna Fuller. Survivors include daughters Luan Bernhardt of Mission, B.C., and Carol Fuller of California; sons Paul Fuller of Connecticut and Randy Fuller of Bellingham; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. FULLER, Harold "Pete" age 72 of Bellingham, passed away Sunday, March 7, 1993 at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. He was born October 2, 1920 in Hawthorne, Calif. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1942-1945 and married Joy Maxine Roedell in Bellingham on April 22, 1955. Mr. Fuller was a home heating oil delivery driver in Bellingham for 30 years. He loved camping at Baker Lake. Survived by his wife, Joy Maxine Fuller of the family home; son, Lawrence Fuller of Portland; daughter Judy & husband Mike and their children, Christine, Phillip, Matthew all of Gold Bar, WA, Shara of Medford, OR, and Michael of Everett, WA; sister-in-law Barbara Fuller and her daughter, Sandra Fuller both of CA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jack & Jewell Christy of Ferndale; nieces: Linda & husband Larry Montgomery and their children, Lisa, Lori and Jerri & husband Steve Williams all of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives and good friends Lee & Jane Harrington of Bellingham. FULLER, Inez L., age 61, of Carnation, Wa., passed away yesterday, Oct. 16, (1974) after a brief illness. She had been a resident of the Bellingham area until 4 years ago. FULLER, James Charles, age 75, of Wenatchee, a former Whatcom County resident died at Central Washington Hospital on July 12, 1986. Mr. Fuller was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on Sept. 9, 1910; the son of Walter & Agnes Nesmith Fuller. In 1922 he moved to Sequim; he married Inez L. Hardenbrook in B'ham on August 21, 1942. They dairy farmed in Lynden, Everson, Stanwood, Arlington & Carnation before moving to Wenatchee in 1976 following his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 10 & Wenatchee Eagles No. 264. Survivors include his 3 sons, Charles (Chuck) of Wenatchee, James (Jim) of Mt. Vernon, & Wayne D. of Entiat; his brother Lyle of Carnation; his 2 sisters, Rachel Ellis of Sequim, & Lila Bispham of Gladstone, Oregon; his nine grandchildren & his 7 great grandchildren. FULLER, Jerald Eugene - Visitation for Jerald Eugene Fuller will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sumas Advent Christian Church. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Jim Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in Sumas Cemetery. Mr. Fuller died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, in Bellingham. He was 58. Born Feb. 7, 1939, to Joseph and Frieda Mathes Fuller in Bellingham, he grew up in the Sumas area. Mr. Fuller graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1956 and attended Skagit Valley Community College and Western Washington University. He worked in agriculture and at Copeland Lumber and was a chef at local restaurants and a flagger for Security Specialists Plus for more that four years. He also worked in California and Nevada. Mr. Fuller was an avid fan of University of Washington sports and a supporter of Nooksack Valley High School sports events. For several years, he was referee for high school teams in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties. He was preceded in death by his father in 1967 and stepfather Harold Odegaard in 1991. Survivors include his mother, of Sumas, sister Shirley Nielsen of Everson, stepbrothers Harold Odegaard of Sumas and Gary Odegaard of Centralia and other relatives.

FULLER, Jerry, age 35, of 608 Magnolia, passed away Mon. July 15, 1985. FULLER, Joseph, age 52, Sumas, passed away Thursday, March 9, (1967) in a Bellingham hospital after an extended illness. A member of the Advent Christian Church, Mr. Fuller had lived in Sumas since 1937. She was born April 22, 1900 in Peoria, Illinois to Charles and Carrie Glasford Porter. Mrs. Fuller was Past Worthy Matron of Sehome Chapter #17 O.E.S., giving 60 years of service to the organization; member of Zenobia Club #2, Daughters of the Nile; Bellingham Court #25, Order of Amaranth; and WWI Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of the Bellingham Alliance Church and former member of the Rome Chapel. FULLER, Reginald H. - English-born Reginald H. Fuller, 82, of 3219 Pinewood Ave., died Thursday in Bellingham. Mr. Fuller was born June 29, 1905, in Norwich, England, and moved to Whatcom County in 1968. Survivors include his wife, Neita of the family home; three daughters, Maxine Franzke, Tacoma, Norma Muse, Freeport, Texas, and Janet Mottle, Seattle; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. FULLER, Sharon Linda - Services for Sharon Linda Fuller of DeSoto, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the West/Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel in DeSoto. Mrs. Fuller, a former Lynden resident, died Friday, June 17, 1994, in Dallas of cancer. She was 45. Born Dec. 14, 1948, to Lyfus and Flora Kelsey Davenport in Fort Smith, Ark., she was raised in Lynden and lived there until 26 years ago. She was a homemaker and had lived in the DeSoto area for the past five years. FULLMER, Ardyth N., age 72 of 5464 Bell-West drive, No. 1, Bellingham, passed away at home Monday September 14, 1987. She was born October 16, 1914 in Central Point, Oregon. She was a resident of Bellingham for the last 19 months, prior to that she lived in Montesano, Washington for 43 years. She was a member of PEO Chapter U and OES Chapter No. 21 of Montesano. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Montesano and is now a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ferndale 1st Ward. Survivors include husband, Donald of the family home; one son, Robert E. FULLMER, Donald K. – A graveside service for Donald Kitchen Fullmer of Ferndale will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ferndale, with Bishop David Walker officiating. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church. Mr. Fullmer died from complications caused by liver cancer on Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his home. He was 84. Born April 11, 1915, to Clinton and Florence (Kitchen) Fullmer in Rocky Ford, Colo, he moved with his family to Washington in 1931. On June 5, 1934, he married Ardyth Creesy in Pasco, and they were married for 53 years. She died in 1987. Mr. Fullmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II before being discharged in December 1945. Mr. Fullmer was a longtime resident of Grays Harbor County, where he lived in Montesano and worked in the insurance business in Aberdeen. After a three-year excursion to Germany to sell life insurance, he settled in Ferndale. He also was a paper carrier for The Bellingham Herald for many years. Mr. Fullmer was a member of the Grays Harbor Chorus, performed in many musicals and was a member of Bellingham Toppers and the Bellingham Blend Barber Shop choirs. He also was an active member of Aberdeen Kiwanis, where he was a former president of Montesano Lions Club; served as Republican County chairman in Grays Harbor County; and was a 50-year member of Montesano Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was very musical and loved to sing. His sister Roberta Moody preceded him in death. Survivors include son Robert Fullmer of Duvall; daughters Maxine Vogt of Ferndale and Phyllis Danielson of Vancouver, Wash; brother George Fullmer of Los Gatos, CA; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

FULLNER, Edith of Pasadena, California passed away in that city Sunday, April 18, (1982) in a rest home at the age of 93. Born May 25, 1888 in Germany, Miss Fullner was formerly of this area. Survivors include brothers Emil and wife Edna Fullner, Bill Fuller, and Otto and wife Wilma Fullner, and sisters-in-law Frances Fullner and Thelma Fullner. Miss Fullner had numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in Pasadena.

FULLNER, Emil E., age 93 of 5952 Lawrence R., Everson, passed away Thursday July 14, 1983. He was born (April 15, 1890) in Stanton, Neb. Mr. Fullner was a life time Whatcom County resident and was a retired logger. He had also owned and operated a Christmas tree farm for more than 20 years and was a member of the American Tree Farm System. During WWI he served in the U. S. Army and was married to Edna Ohlund in Bellingham on April 21, 1920. He is survived by his wife Edna; 2 sons, Raymond and wife Dorothy of Riverside, Calif. and Lee and wife Marlene of Bellingham; a daughter, Jean and husband Ole Korstad of Everson; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Otto and William both of Lynden; a sister-in-law Thelma Fullner of Lynden and numerous nieces & nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m. in Nooksack Cemetery with Rev. Lewin Clefisch officiating.

FULLNER, Otto Elwin, 87, of 1020 Liberty #B, Lynden, passed away at the Christian Rest Home on Sept. 27, 1994. A funeral service was held on Saturday at First Reformed Church in Lynden with Revs. Marc deWaard, Eric schulze and Elmer VanderPloeg officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Mr. Fullner was a lifetime resident of Lynden, both there on Oct. 6, 1906, a son of Carl and Bertha Pehl Fullner. He was a member of the 1924 graduating class of Lynden High School. Otto spent his career as a carpenter in construction and was a 50-year member of Carpenters and Joiners Local No. 756 in Bellingham. He enjoyed fishing and attending local Lynden High School sporting events. In Lynden on Feb. 28, 1936 he was married to Wilma "Wink" Roosendaal and she survives her husband in Lynden. Other survivors include: four sons, Carl Fullner and wife Donna of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dale Fullner and wife Rita of Lynden, Richard Fullner and wife Joanna of Bainbridge Island and Mel Fullner and wife Ann of Lynden; a niece, Shirley VanderPloeg and husband Phil of Lynden; brother William Fullner of Lynden; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

FULLNER, Thelma C., age 87 of 7420 Emerson Rd., Everson, passed away Friday, February 13, (1987) in Lynden. Born December 24, 1899. She had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1924. Graduating Cum Laude from the University of Washington in 1920 with a degree in Chemistry, she had been active in Collegiate Sports, winning 2 varsity sweaters & a varsity blanket. She was a teacher for over 34 years having taught in Mt. Baker High School, the Nooksack High school, & several other schools in the Northwest Washington area, California & Oregon. She was Mother Of The Year for the State of Washington in 1967, had been president of the Whatcom County Education Assoc. for 3 years, President of the Whatcom County Home Makers for 2 years, & was a former state Chairman of the Home Makers Club of citizenship, conservation & civil defense. She was a member of the Everson Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School superintendent for 9 years, a Deacon, a Choir Member, and served in many other programs of the Church. She is survived by 2 sons, Max W. (Bill) & wife Nola Fullner of Kent & Larry & wife Joan Fullner of Seattle; 1 daughter, Sharon & husband Larry Demmert of Bellingham; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. FULLNER, William F., 93, a lifetime Lynden resident, died at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Sunday, June 15, 1997. Visitation will be at Gillies Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will precede in Greenacres Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Mr. Fullner was born in Lynden on Dec. 20, 1903, one of 11 children born to Carl and Louisa Pehl Fullner. He grew up on Abbott Road and served in the Army during World War II. He worked at various jobs throughout Washington including the building of the Grand Coulee Dam, and enjoyed baseball. He was an adherent of the First Reformed Church and had been a resident of the Christian Health Care Center for the past 20 years. He married Violet Schultz on Feb. 15, 1945, in Bellingham. He was preceded in death by his wife and his 11 siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley VanderPloeg, and her husband Phil of Lynden; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. FULLNER, Wilma Roosendaal "Wink," formerly of 1020 Liberty St., Lynden, died at Christian Rest Home in Lynden on Feb. 15 at the age of 87. Memorial funeral services were conducted on Monday in First Reformed Church in Lynden with Revs. Mare deWaard and Elmer VanderPloeg officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Born in Campen, the Netherlands on Jan. 21, 1908, Wink was the daughter of Albert and Alice (Groen) Roosendaal. From Holland the family moved to North Dakota in 1913 and then to Lynden in 1925. On Feb. 28, 1936 she was married to her husband Otto Fullner of Lynden; he preceded her in death in September of last year. A homemaker, Wink also was an owner of the former City Market in downtown Lynden for five years. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Lynden and its Lydia Circle. She enjoyed her family, church, gardening, traveling and supporting missions. She is survived by four sons, Carl Fullner and wife Donna of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dale Fullner and wife Rita of Lynden, Richard Fullner and wife Joanna of Bainbridge Island and Mel Fullner and wife Ann of Lynden; daughter Shirley VanderPloeg and husband Phil of Lynden; three sisters, Margaret Van Werven and Nellie VanderMey of Lynden and Alice Bierlink of Sunnyside; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and numerous other relatives. Besides her parents and husband, Wink was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

Mr. Funk was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 56 years, serving as an elder in the Blaine congregation for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Ella, ofo the family home; brothers Ben Funk, Kenneth Funk and David Funk, all of Delta, B.C., Bernard Funk of Surrey, B.C., and Ernie Funk of Toronto; and sister Helen Esmonde of Prince Rupert, B.C. FUNK, Henry A., age 73, Rt. No. 2, Sedro Woolley, passed away Tuesday, January 4, (1966). Mr. Funk owned and operated the Shasta Park Grocery Store. FUNK, Martin Joseph - A memorial service for Martin Joseph Funk, formerly of Bellingham, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. Mr. Funk, 71, died July 10, (1988) at his Langley home after 3 1/2 years of treatment for colon cancer. Mr. Funk was perhaps best known as a saxophonist and clarinetist in dance bands which entertained from Seattle to Blaine beginning in the early 1930s. He was born in Arlington on Jan. 16, 1917, and lived his entire life in the Puget Sound area except for his years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1934, and spent most of the next five decades in Bellingham, with short periods of residence in Burlington and Lynden. He was employed in Bellingham as an accountant for Bargreen Restaurant Supply. He moved to Whidbey Island in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Morgan Funk, at home; a daughter, Pamela Jean Funk, of Puyallup; a son Ronald Joseph Funk, of Seattle; two step-daughters, Sharon Yve Martell and Janette Lemme, both of Seattle; two sisters, Irene Palmer of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Christina Rheinford of Seattle; one grandson; three step-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Hitchock-Visser Funeral Home in Langley.

A memorial service for Bellingham National Bank employee Ruth Funk, 53, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ken Daugs officiating. Mrs. Funk, of 2222 St. Clair St., died Thursday at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born Ruth Storck on April 27, 1936, in Ulm, West Germany. Mrs. Funk moved to Bellingham in 1966 with her husband, Erich, from Port Angeles, where they had lived for six years. The couple met in New York, and returned to West Germany to be married on Sept. 19, 1959. A bank clerk at the Bellingham National Bank operations center on Cornwall Avenue, Mrs. Funk also was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved animals, and enjoyed supporting wildlife organizations. ...

FUNKE, Margaret Elizabeth, age 80, passed away Dec. 8, 1993, at St. Francis Nursing home. She was born on June 4, 1913 in Victoria, B. C. [to Henry & Gertrude Dickson]. She graduated from Everett High School and went through Nursing Training at Providence Hospital. On Dec. 19, 1958, she married Harold J. Funke. He preceded her in death in 1970. FUNKHOUSER, Catherine (Ulrich), born Dec. 31, 1904 in Acme, Washington, died Jan. 31, 1982 in Spokane, Washington. Catherine lived a big part of her life in Acme and went to schools there. She was the daughter of Bertha and William Ulrich, pioneer farmers on the Mosquito Lake Rd. Services were Feb. 4, 1982, 10:30 a.m. in the Riplinger's Chapel of Flowers in Spokane. Officiating was Rev. Burton Schroeder. Merrill Womach provided musical selections "Children of the Heavenly Father" and the "Lord's Prayer". Cremation followed.

FUQUA, Cecil E., a longtime resident of Bellingham, passed away March 13, 1991 in a convalescent center in Gresham, Oregon. He moved there in November, 1985 to be near his family. Cecil was born in Oklahoma on January 17, 1905 and spent his early years in Oregon and Idaho. Cecil and his late wife, Marie operated the Big Daddy restaurant on Holly Street for many years. Preceding that Cecil owned and operated several wholesale food businesses. He also traveled for Arden Farms. He enjoyed being active in his community and was a member of the Bellingham Central Lions Club for many years serving as president in 1949-50. He was also a Master Mason of Bellingham Lodge No. 44. His hobbies were fishing, sailing and sharing his home on Pleasant Bay. He is survived by sisters Mildred Gibson and Reta Benedict of Portland, Oregon, brother E. M Fuqua of Olympia and daughter Bettee Gerdes of Portland. At his request there was no service.

FUQUAY, Patrick James, 20, an Aberdeen resident most of his life, was shot to death last weekend after giving a friend a ride home from a party in Bellingham, where Pat has been attending Western Washington University. Born Jan. 6, 1968, in Corvallis, OR, Pat had attended school at North River, Cosmopolis & Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1986. He had many friends of all ages here on the harbor, & here in Bellingham. Since graduating, he had been a full-time student at Western & had spent the summers fishing with his Great Uncle off Kodiak Island in Alaska. He had planned to become an elementary school teacher, saying "I never met a little kid I didn't like." His passions were reading, hunting, fishing and being with his friends. Survivors include his parents, Bud & Anita Fuquay and his brother, Joe from the family home on North River, in Grays Harbor County; grandparents, Robert and Eleanor Pearmain of Mt. Vernon. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday on the 29th of October at Whiteside Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA. Cremation to follow.

FURNESS, Loren E., age 65, of San Francisco, Calif., who was born and raised in Whatcom County, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 1985. He was a retired City of San Francisco employee. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two children and two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Irene Ohmart DuLong and one brother, Birch Furness, both of Issaquah, Wash.; a cousin, Mae Bradley, of Lynden; a niece, Gerry Ohmart Sleeth, of Bellingham, and a nephew, Jack Ohmart, of Edmonds. FURNESS, Walter A. 68, of Issaquah, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle May 14, (1982). Services were held Tuesday evening, May 18 at Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Lakeside Cemetery in Clearbook. Furness was born March 16, 1914 in Maple Falls, the son of Lorne and Carrie Furness. He was raised in Whatcom County and graduated from Sumas-Nooksack High School. He attended Western Washington State College, and served with the National Guard from 1933 to 1936, and with the U. S. Marine Corps. from April 1937 to July 1948 receiving several medals and citations. Furness was a member of F.O.E. No. 2643, West Seattle, American Legion Post No. 112-12528, Lake City. Furness is survived by his sister Irene DeJong, Issaquah, two brothers, Birch Furness, Seattle, and Lorne Furness, San Francisco, one cousin, Mrs. Glen Bradley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Furr had resided in this community his entire life, was a meat cutter for the Brandt Meat Co., and a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Bernice F. Furr and two sons, Milton and Rickey at home; one brother, Archie of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Messer of Bellingham and Mrs. Pearl Evans of Seattle. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Oscar A. Jacobson Monday, February 20 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place Woodlawn.

FUSSNER, Agnes T., age 93, of Bellingham, passed away Sat. July 25, 1992 at her residence. Born May 2, 1899, at East Helena, MT to Aseus and Helen Jacobson. She worked for Puget Sound Power and Light for 45 years. In 1949, she married Albert Fussner in Seattle, WA. They moved to Bellingham and were the owners of Fussner Monuments. Mrs. Fussner was a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and was active in the Bellingham Senior center and the BPOE No. 194 Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and crocheting. Survived by a sister-in-law, Frances McKinnon of Bellingham; a special friend, Vivian Fosberg of Blaine; several relatives in Norway. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 28, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at Bayview Cemetery with Rev. James Stender officiating. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.

FUSSNER, Bessie Taylor, age 54 years of Woodinville, Wash., passed away Saturday noon, July 3, (1948) at Providence hospital, Seattle, following a lingering illness. She spent her entire lifetime in Bellingham with the exception of the last 2 years when she made her home in Seattle and Tacoma prior to moving to Woodinville. Mrs. Fussner had been active in the Seattle Children's Orthopedic. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taylor. Surviving relatives are her husband, F. A. Fussner; one son, John Robert of Falls Pass, Alaska; also one sister, Mrs. Irene Mallory of LaPlapta, Argentina, So. Amer. Rosary was said at St. Brendans church in Bothell, Monday, July 5, at 8 p.m. Requiem Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 6 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Donnelly officiating. Interment in Bay View cemetery under the direction of the Westford-Beck funeral home.

FUSSNER, Frank Albert, age 56 years, of the Fussner Monument Works, passed away in Glendale, Calif., Saturday, September 26, (1953) following a lingering illness. He owned and operated the monument business for the past four years and was formerly employed by the Puget Sound Power & Light Co. for 32 years. Mr. Fussner was a member of the Church of the Assumption and the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 194. He is survived by his wife, Agnes T.; one son, Robert, of Woodinville, Wash.; three grandchildren; his father, Herman J. Fussner, of Blaine; two sisters, Mrs. Loretta Fitzwater and Mrs. Francis McKinnon, both of Bellingham; an aunt, Mrs. Claudia Slack of Brea, Calif., and other relatives. Rosary will be said Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be sung Thursday, Oct. 1, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Bernard V. Cremer, Celebrant. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

FUSSNER, Gunda Olive, age 65, of 1431 State Street, passed away at the family home early Friday morning, January 14, (1949) following a short illness. Mrs. Fussner had been a Bellingham resident for the past thirty-one years, and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include her husband, Herman J. Fussner; one daughter, Mrs. Frances McKinnon, of Bellingham; one son, Clarence Clous, of Seattle; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Nelson, of Bellingham and Mrs. Millie McClure, of Snohomish, and one brother, John Olsen, of Vancouver, B. C. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 17, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. James Martyn Wilson officiating. Interment in Bay View.

FUSSNER, Herman J., age 83 years, of Rt. No. 1, Blaine, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, September 15, (1955) following a short illness. Mr. Fussner had been a resident of the community for the past 45 years, and was the founder of the Fussner Monument Works. He was a member of St. Anne's Mission Catholic Church in Blaine. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Fitzwater, Rt. No. 1, Blaine; Mrs. Frances McKinnon, city and one stepson, Clarence Clous, of Seattle; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and one brother, August Fussner, in Germany. Rosary will be said Sunday, September 18, at 7:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Solemn High Mass will be sung Monday, September 19, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption. Interment, Bay View.

FUSSNER, Mary, age 73, of Yakima, passed away in that city, Wednesday, March 8, (1950). Mrs. Fussner was a former resident of Burlington and a member of the Fourth Order of St. Frances. Surviving relatives include a son, F. A. Fussner, of Bellingham; a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Fitzwater, of Yakima; one sister, Mrs. Claudia Slack, of Brea, Calif., and one grandson, John Robert Fussner, of Bellingham. Requiem mass will be said Friday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Father John Horan, celebrant, within the Church of the Assumption. Interment in the Burlington Cemetery, under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

FYFE, Clara Isabel - Services for Clara Isabel Fyfe, 81, of Surrey, B. C., will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Valley View Funeral Home in Surrey, with the Rev. Donald E. Walter officiating. The body will be cremated and the ashes placed at Valley View Cemetery. Mrs. Fyfe died Saturday (Sept. 3, 1988) at a Surrey hospital. She was born June 1, 1907, in Thessalon, Ontario, Canada. During much of her life, Mrs. Fyfe belonged to garden clubs and volunteer organizations. Survivors include husband, Joseph, of a Surrey rest home; two sons, Bill and Jack Fyfe, both of Surrey; three daughters, Gladys Flint of Custer, Joyce McLennan of White Rock, B.C. and Sharon Vernon of Surrey; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lorne Bowland of Manitoba, Canada, and David and Alex Bowland of Ontario, Canada; five sisters, Gladys McKague of Ashcroft, B.C., and Ella Pacey, Madeline Henderson, Lillian Trembley and Toots David, all of Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews.

FYFE, Joseph Ivan, passed away July 18, 1993 at Surrey, B. C. Pre-deceased by wife Clara in 1988 also 1 grandson and 1 brother. He is survived by his loving family, 3 daughters, Gladys (Dale) Flint, Joyce (Crawford) McLennan, Sharon (Dave) Vernon, 2 sons Bill Fyfe, Jack (Lois) Fyfe, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Valley View Funeral Home.

FYHN, Anna Maria, age 73, of 1146 Franklin St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Nov. 15, (1961). Mrs. Fyhn had been a 36 year resident of this community and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives are her husband, Adolf L. at home; two daughters, Mrs. Lewis C. Hallett of Rollins Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Lynn F. Preston of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters and many nieces and nephews in Norway. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Don Taylor, Monday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a. m. Cremation.

FYRK, Leo C., age 68, of 506 S. State St., B'ham, passed away Thurs. April 5, 1979. A longtime Bellingham resident, retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976. He was a member of Garden St. Methodist Church, past master of B'ham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM, treasurer of B'ham Bay Lodge No. 44 for the past 9 years. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Foundation, the York Rite Assembly & a member of Caribou Lodge No. 4 F&AM. Surviving are his wife, May. 4 brothers: Hugo, Earl, Leslie & Louis all of Saskatchewan. 4 sisters: Ruby Maximchuk, Hazel Taylor, Winnie Dowling all of Saskatchewan & Perl Vinner of Ontario. Services will be held Mon. April 9th at 1 p.m. in Veroske Jerns Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Guderian officiating with officers of B'ham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM participating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park.

FYRK, May A., age 62 who resided at 506 South State Street, passed away in a local hospital June 6, 1981. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 32 years; was a member of Garden Street United Methodist Church. She leaves to survive her mother, Mrs. Gordon Sumner of Burnaby, B.C.; 1 sister, Irene Ayers, 1 brother, Harry Cawsey, both of Vancouver, B.C.; 2 nephews, Robert & Dan Ayers & 1 niece Catherine Williamson, all of British Columbia. Funeral services will be held Wed. June 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Veroske, Jerns, & LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Greenacres Memorial Park. [b. Jan. 20, 1919 Saskatchewan, Canada]
